Straight From Strutting Down Catwalks in New York and Paris, the Limited Edition MAC Fall ’13 Forecast/Lips Palette Now Hopes to Sashay Along a Boulevard With You

April 8th, 2013 by Karen 43 Comments

MAC Trend Forecast Fall 13 Forecast/Lips
The forecast calls for lips! — MAC Fall 13 Forecast/Lips, that is ($40)

If any brand’s got their finger on the pulse of makeup lovers like me, it’s got to be MAC. Especially when it comes to [INSERT ANY MAKEUP CATEGORY HERE OR] lip palettes. They’re hands down one of my favorite lip palette lines…and I don’t even consider myself a big lip palette fan!

It’s the colors they choose to put together — they just have a knack for it — like does this one go with that? Why yes, MAC, it does, and I can’t even figure out how/why!

Take their new $40 Fall ’13 Forecast/Lips palette, for instance, and its six fashion-forward fall shades. None of the colors, all of which have MAC’s preternaturally pigmented Amplified lipstick finish, seem wasted or like they’re merely taking up space.

The colors that come with the chic limited edition set stalked New York and Paris fall fashion week catwalks, and now they’re looking for love on all of our faces. 🙂 From colors for work lunches (I’m thinking any of the neutral colors on the palette’s left would do well) to drinks at a stylish lounge (any of the shades, really), this palette has it covered.

And even though the dark purple and burgundy shades might be a little much for a quick Petco run or a walk around the neighborhood to visit Charlize, I don’t care. 🙂 Cue the curtain please! I’m diggin’ them both.

Heck, I bet you could combine any of the darker shades with the lighter shades, too, and create your own custom colors. All of them seem to harmonize pretty well.

PRICE: $40

Guess who had a little too much caffeine today (BUZZ!).

Sure got a lot done, though. Now I just have to try to get to sleep…

Yup.

How are things over there? Nice to get Monday out of the way, isn’t it? I have a pack of gold star stickers here on my desk. Can I interest you in one?

I’m just getting ready to watch the U.S. version of Being Human on SyFy. You ever watch that?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Ooh, would definitely love this! Would you say the amount of product in it is worth the price?

      Hi Solangel,

The palette’s 0.21 total ounces total; a full-size MAC lipstick is $15 for a 0.10-ounce tube. It’s a little pricy considering you could purchase 2 lipsticks for $10 less, but you do get the added convenience of having all six the colors in one place, and the ability to mix/match shades. I do think these all work together fabulously. I mixed a few of the neutrals today in with the red and had a good ol’ time!

      Hi Alison,

I gotta give it up to my friend who does my hair, Alis. She works MIRACLES. Without her I’d be a hot mess.

Anywho, Rich New Mood is cool. How about it with some cat liner? 🙂

Hope you had a nice Tuesday. Anything new to report?

I’ve watched the original BBC Being Human which I loved. It’d be interesting see how the US one compares.

      Hi Tracy,

I’ve heard the BBC version is good! I just wonder if I’d get all the cultural references/jokes. The US one has them and it can be pretty funny at times.

As for the lip palette, I can’t wait to see that deep plum on you!

Love those colors on you, Karen!

I’ve seen both the UK and US versions of Being Human. I saw the UK version first (not caught up with either series), but I thought the US version was good too.

I gotta catch the UK one soon…I wonder if I’d get the jokes! Do you watch any other SyFy shows? I’ve heard Lost Girl is pretty good, but I haven’t had the chance to look into yet.

From what I remember with the UK version, there is more “Would you like a cup of tea?” (because the English do love their tea, hee!) I actually don’t know of any other SyFy shows right now. Lost Girl does sound awesome though!

Oh yeah! She mostly goes for the nail polishes. She mostly likes to look at them and carry them around lol. And if I’m using a powder/blush brush she likes me to pretend to put it on her as well 🙂

          • Karen says

            April 9th, 2013 at 7:20 pm

Oh gosh, that’s SO CUTE! If I was a kid I’d probably want to stuff my purse full of polishes too, now that I think about it, haha! Must be the whole bright and shiny thing. 🙂

            Do you paint her nails?

          • Tiffany says

            April 9th, 2013 at 7:28 pm

It’s like ingrained in us ladies… Ooooh shiny! Haha. She loves the glitter ones. I haven’t tried to paint hers yet. I want to get the kind that peels off for her and I keep forgetting to look when I’m at the store!

          • Karen says

            April 9th, 2013 at 7:35 pm

So true! I was at the YSL counter today and I think may have made grabby hands when I saw all the bright and shiny summer pieces! 🙂

Good idea to get the peel-off polish. That way there’s no drama when it comes time to take it off (unlike the glitters, argh). I can only imagine the conversation when you tell her no glitter just yet, LOL! You can’t keep a girl away from her glitter.

Random, but I thought of you a while back when I read this story about photographing children. Are you still taking pictures?

          • Tiffany says

            April 9th, 2013 at 7:43 pm

Yeah I am still working on photography and still loving it! I feel like I have spurts where I practice a lot and other times (like recently) I get lazy 🙂 I did maternity photos for a friend and have done three baby sessions for friends so it has been good practice!

Oh, I think Rich New Mood is great for you anytime – even for runs to Petco! Actually, it’s my fave color out of the bunch, full stop. 🙂

I’ve never watched the US version of Being Human but did watch a few seasons of the BBC version and liked it quite a bit. Whenever the plot became less than interesting, I always had Aidan Turner to look at. 🙂

      Hi Kim,

Check out the US one sometime. It’s pretty good. Although now it has me paranoid about what I wear. If I had to spend all eternity as a ghost in some mis-matched, ratty pajamas, I would go completely insane.

HAHA! And it’s not even like when you turn into a zombie and you can have your loved ones groom you occasionally. 🙂

I just checked the BBC version and Annie is wearing gray leggings and boots with a white tank and a gray hooded sweater. I could definitely live in that (or be dead in it, in this case). Of course, you know I’d actually be in sweatpants and sneakers, so I’d be happy.

These colors look gorgeous for Fall, but we haven’t even gotten to Spring or Summer yet. I live on the east coast and it’s been feeling more like winter, except for today, which is suppose to be in the 60s/70s. I’m still in the mood for bright Spring/Summer colors.

      Hi Vanessa,

Great question! I usually use an old flat concealer brush with a pointed tip from Sonia Kashuk that I use to apply lip color as well. If I’m traveling, then I’ll take a portable lip brush like MAC 316.
