15 People or Things You’ll Resemble When You Wear MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion in Golden Elixir

May 3rd, 2013 by Karen 51 Comments

MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion Golden Elixir
Here I’m wearing the new MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion Golden Elixir ($31) from the limited edition MAC Temperature Rising summer collection

When you wear MAC’s Strobe Liquid Lotion in Golden Elixir ($31) you’ll look radiant and golden like…

MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion Golden Elixir

  1. A Grecian goddess soaking up the last rays on a summer day
  2. J. Lo after running a 5K in Christian Louboutin pumps and a gold lame catsuit
  3. A sequined Oscar gown on the Best Dressed list
  4. A Beyonce-themed Christmas tree
  5. Jeremy Renner’s glistening arms after saving a family of stray kittens from drowning
  6. A mega millions lottery winner the moment right after she tells her bosses to suck it and walks out of the room in a dramatic exit
  7. An extra in a Britney video circa the golden years, aka BF (Before Federline)
  8. A proud kitty stage mom who just found out her baby cat won the award for best actor in a gravy commercial and is dabbing tears from her eyes with a lace hanky
  9. A reflection in a mirror after easily slipping into those goal-weight skinny jeans that you’ve been holding onto for months
  10. A room full of Skarsgards
  11. A room filled with 1000 birthday cakes, each cake miraculously calorie-free (so you can eat as much as you want!) and topped with 1000 candles
  12. MC Hammer after he tried on his first pair of gold Hammer pants
  13. Someone who just discovered Nutella
  14. A girl on vacation laying on a beach towel in Kauai reading The Great Gatsby
  15. A lightning bolt tattoo streaking across Channing Tatum’s tanned stomach

MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion Golden Elixir

Babe, you know I love me some MAC Strobe Cream, so I feel like I’ve been waiting all my life for Golden Elixir. It’s a lightweight, golden liquid highlighting lotion that you can wear on bare skin and/or layered underneath or on top of makeup (foundation, blush, face powder, bronzer), and it’s bomb for getting that dewy, golden Cat on a Hot Tin Roof type of glow without looking too metallic.

MAC Strobe Liquid Lotion Golden Elixir Swatches
Unblended on the left and blended on the right

I wear it everywhere: my face, shoulders, neck and arms. I trust you won’t tell the Makeup Hoarders Police that I plan to stockpile more than a few back-up bottles when they finally arrive on counters later this May.

PRICE: $41 for a 1.7-ounce bottle
AVAILABILITY: Limited edition, coming May 16 to maccosmetics.com and May 23 to MAC counters and stores
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A+

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Tomorrow Brian and I are headed to the coast. There’s a Kites and Castles event going on. Very elaborate kites being flown and sandcastles being built. Should be fun.

Sunday I’m taking my friend Jeanette out to lunch for her birthday.

Yes, I’ve already been “talked to” about this by Brian. I’m really bad at the whole layers thing and I never think ahead about temperature differences. But, I’ll be wearing a t-shirt topped by a lightweight sweater, and bringing a jacket with me. And Brian always has about 3 or 4 sweaters along in the truck in case I forget about the whole thing….

So, Brian just left. He’s taking over the remainder of the renovations here in the backyard so he was taking measurements and dropping off equipment. Next week he’ll be pouring some concrete to give me more paved surface to get around on, and he’s going to put together a garden for me. He envisions me growing herbs and vegetables. We’ll see how that goes…..

Oh, that’s so nice of him! Next up: teaching Missy how to walk on a leash so she can enjoy the backyard too. 😉

I’ve been to Stockholm, and there are lots of gorgeous guys!

Zack and I just went out to dinner and bought The Game of Thrones Board Game (apparently it exists!) so we’ll probably do that tonight, very exciting. My mom might be coming to town this weekend, so that’d be fun!

Aw, have fun with your mom this weekend if she comes. It’s always nice to have your mom nearby. I bet she’ll also be thrilled to see her “grand-cat” and “grand-bunny” LOL.

That’s sweet. I have a younger doggie “sister” — my dad’s dog, Shauna.

Fur families are the best. 🙂

Hope you’re winning in Game of Thrones! We just finished watching a couple eps of Scandal.

      Hi Breyerchic04,

      Here’s a quick swatch.

That’s Golden Elixir on the far left, Becca Opal in the center and Benefit’s Sun Beam on the far right. Sun Beam is lighter, more yellow and more metallic.

Looks like I’m finally going to get to go to Napa this weekend. Wine tasting and lunch tomorrow, yay! I just hope the weather holds up. It’s been phenomenal here — upper ’80s, but the weather gal says it might rain on Sunday so BOO TO THAT!

Thank you! We were supposed to go to a food truck event and hang out outside but it’s raining 🙁 it’s supposed to rain here alllll weekend 🙁 we went to a place called chow baby instead. It’s a place where you build your own stir fry. I didn’t really go dressy but I feel cute (which isn’t easy at 5 mos pregnant). I got this new dress so I wore it – http://m.oldnavy.gap.com/product.html?dn=op649446032&dv=0&shopid=1&pdn=oc15292 I got it in store for $20! Score! Of course I’m wearing coral blush to match 🙂 Oooh napa sounds awesome, I am way jealous! I love wine tastings. Have fun!!!

Oh that’s a super cute dress! Hmm, I might have stalk Old Navy to see if I can find one in my size (the cute stuff is ALWAYS sold out). I hope you were wearing cute shoes.

Napa is cool, it’s one of the reasons why I like living where I live. It’s literally like a hop, skip and a jump away!

I totally love it! They literally had only one and it happened to be my size. I think the lady said it was an online return so it might be online only 🙁

It’s really cute. I love the print! Okay, I’ll look online. Maybe we’ll be dress twinsies.

      Hi Lori,

Golden Elixir is more bronze and less peach than Opal. I also think it’s more sheer and less metallic. I built it up in this swatch pic so you can see the differences in color. That’s Golden Elixir on the far left, Becca Opal in the center and Benefit’s Sun Beam on the far right. HTH
