I’m Spellbound by the Natural Flush and Light Sheen These Pixi All-Over Magic Powders Deliver

September 27th, 2011 by Karen 39 Comments

pixi all over magic
Wearing Pixi All-Over Magic Powder in No. 2 Rose Radiance on the apples of my cheeks and No. 3 Brightening Radiance on my upper cheekbones

These new Pixi All-Over Magic Powders ($24 each) take me back to my teens, and those kinder, gentler days when I’d wake up every morning with a built-in youthful glow.

Subtlety and sheen characterize the three brightening blushes and highlighters (one isn’t shown here), each of which contain five colors designed to be swirled together when applied.

No. 2 Rose Radiance (applies as a warm pink with shimmer)

pixi all over magic brightening radiance
No. 3 Brightening Radiance (applies as a light pinkish peach with shimmer)

Swatches of No. 2 Rose Radiance on the left and No. 3 Brightening Radiance on the right

Normally, I would have added these soft, blend-able textures into my regular rotation of blushes without a second thought, but dayum! — they’re powdery as all heck. When applying them I have to be sure to hold the pan over the sink, and well out away from my clothing, because the grains get all over the place when I swirl the brush in the pans.

They’re a recipe for a messy counter, but I sure adore the natural flush and light sheen these lend my cheeks.

PRICE: $24 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Target stores
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B (they’re also on the expensive side for Target)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Good morning and happy Tuesday, babe! How’s your day coming along? I can’t believe I actually dug out my Halloween decorations from the closet last night. Can you believe it’s already that time again? Seems like only yesterday we were talking beehives, and now here it is again!

Pixi is actually having an amazing sale on hautelook- a lot of things are up to 75% off! I know it ends soon though so if you have a pixi craving hurry on over!

Happy Tuesday to you, too! 🙂

Hmm…these are pretty, but they sound really messy. I guess that shouldn’t really bother me, though, since I wear loose mineral foundation. 😛 But having one messy makeup item in my morning routine is enough for me.

I have friends who wear loose mineral foundation and swear by the stuff! What brand do you wear? Bare Minerals?

I don’t like it when products get messy/crumbly in the pan.

It’s a shame that the Pixi blush and highlighter have alot of fallout in the pan because they actually look nice when worn on the cheeks.

It doesn’t really get crumbly — the powder’s very fluffy and tends to fly once the brush picks it up.

These look so pretty in the pan, but it’s too bad they’re messy.

I can’t believe how September flew by! I actually don’t mind, b/c I have a girls trip to Miami planned for November. 🙂

They’re even cuter in person, believe it or not! 🙂

So jealous of your Miami trip. What’s the occasion, and how long will you and the girls be there?

I’m going with two of my best friends I’ve known since middle school. We all live in different cities and hardly see each other, so we thought it would be fun to take a trip together. We’ll just be there over the weekend (leaving Friday, returning Monday). I haven’t had a real “getaway” vacation in a while and I’ve never done a girls only trip, so I’m really looking forward to it. 🙂

Oh, you gals will have so much fun! The last girl’s trip I did was Maui years ago and we had a blast. Do you guys have the weekend all planned out, or will you be winging it?

I remember your beehive post! I loved that one.

I’m not sure how I feel about Pixi’s products. The price doesn’t bother me so much as I have no problem plunking down that much at Sephora. If something works, it works, I’m not going to set different price limits just because of where it’s sold. I have 2 of Pixi’s boxed powder things and they disappointed me a little. I thought I would be able to use them as blushes, but they are more highlighters than anything. My favorite Pixi product is their Lip Twin in Coral Camellia. I use it all the time.

      Hey Jessi,

I’ve got a Lip Twin on my to-test list. How do you apply yours?

The top tint part I apply straight to my lips like a lip balm.lipstick. The lip balm (tube) part is more tricky. Make sure to shake it because they pigment tends to separate out from the base! I’ve tried using my finger but I think my fingers are too far, haha. It’s easier if I just put a little dab on the back of my hand and use a lip brush. Or if I lazy just squirt it directly on the lip brush.

Gah, all your beautiful Pixi swatches make me want to try the brand! However, considering the usual prices at Target, I can’t justify spending Sephora-esque prices there 😡

They do look really pretty on you, especially the Rose Radiance. I’m not sure why I feel this way, but the Pixi logo always kind of creeps me out. Rationally, I see there is nothing wrong with it. I guess it’s just one of those weird things. 🙂
