I’m Hungry for More From L’Oreal Magic Smooth Soufflé Blush

February 17th, 2012 by Karen 14 Comments

Loreal Magic Smooth Souffle Blush

Depending on how ravenous I am at any given moment, I’m enjoying this trend of makeup that looks good enough to eat. Like the new L’Oreal Magic Smooth Soufflé Blushes ($12.99 each). If I didn’t know better…I’d think they were dessert!

Available in four potted shades that look like mousse (the kind you order after dinner) in their serving platters/pots, they feel firm and dense when I tap them with a finger, and yet feel smooth, dry and something like silicone when I get them on my cheeks.

I’ve been wearing two of the four shades this week — Celestial, a cool matte pink, and Angelic, a light matte peach — and both produce a faint flush of very natural-looking cheek color, especially in pics.

But upon closer inspection, these delicious-looking blushes pose a few challenges for me.

First, I find them a little tricky to apply. A tad too much, and they start to ball up on my skin.

The product also seeks out every dry flake (how rude!) and settles in my pores, resulting in uneven color, and this happens on both bare skin and atop foundation or primer.

Not cute.

I’m guessing that to successfully pull these off, one would need porcelain perfect skin…and that does not describe me.

Points for very pretty colors and packaging, but I suspect I’m not the ideal candidate for these. If you’re blessed with a crystal clear, smooth complexion, you’re a lucky girl or guy, and these might work better for you than me.

PRICE: $12.99 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at drugstores, Ulta stores and also online

its too bad they don’t perform well, i liked the look of them even though the shades a bit pale for my NC 40 skin tone!

This would probably be a better fit for gals with really great skin. Alas, my dry flakes…

Ok the packaging of this looks so pretty! I wonder if we will get them over here? It is very unfortunate they’re a bit unforgiving though. I don’t think I’d be able to work it either with the state of my skin!

Happy Friday! Only an hour left in my workday. Yay! Hope you have a great weekend!

Oh, and about the blushes, perfect skin is absolutely not me, either. They do look fluffy and delicious, though. 🙂

Mmm… speaking of frozen treats, did I tell you that the frozen yogurt shop down the street now has dulce de leche flavor? It’s my few fave thing.

Also — I’m finally caught up on Top Chef (have you been watching?). That challenge with the skiing and the target shooting… CRAZYPANTS!

These look really pretty, but too bad they did not work out. TGIF! I took a half-day vacation from work, so I’m going to do my best to get all the house cleaning done today so I can enjoy the rest of the weekend. 🙂

They are pretty blushes, shame that they didn’t work out. I’m particular when it comes to how something performs, too. I’ve stuck by Nars the Multiple in Orgasm for a few years now as my staple blush. It lasts all day, and doesn’t latch on to dry skin or problem skin areas. It’s also very flattering on most skin tones (it wins the Makeup Awards yearly in Allure and Glamour magazines).

Man, I hate it when companies do this. They name their products something so delicious that you can’t help but to want to buy it, sometimes just so say you have a product with such a name haha

They look really nice and I am so unhappy they didn’t work for you. My skin is sometimes dry and sometimes oily, so I guess it wouldn’t work for me either. Sooooo glad it’s Friday. Love your blog!
