I guess Lancome really wanted to cover all of their bronzing bases this summer because they released a whopping six Star Bronzers ($35 each) — three with their Natural Matte finish, and three with a finish called Natural Glow.
Gotta love having a wide range of options, right? Especially when it comes with a cool design on the pan.
One option, however, that Lancome did not include with these is a less expensive one, as $35 seems like a lot (the MAC Bronzing Powders cost $23; Urban Decay Baked Bronzers, $26).
For these, Lancome used a blend of mineral pigments and something they call “absorbent micro-spheres,” which is fancy talk for something that’s supposed to keep them looking and feeling smooth for a long time. I gotta say, the shade I tried, Natural Matte in 03 Sunbath, does look and feel pretty great — silky, and not heavy or chalky at all. It’s a warm orangey brown with red undertones, and I’m a little surprised by how much I like it, considering the finish is matte (I usually prefer bronzers with a little shimmer because I think it makes them easier to use).
But this matte works fine. I didn’t have any trouble blending it and even used it today to add a subtle warmth to my face.
03 Sunbath on cheeks, across forehead and along jawline
If you’re around my shade or darker and interested in doing some subtle contouring, or looking like you just spent a quick 15 minutes in the sun, keep 03 Sunbath in mind. I’m disappointed in the price, but this one has sparked my curiosity about the other five shades.
PRICE: $35
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Lancome stores, counters and also online

I really like the one blush I have from Lancôme (Mandarin sky–SO gorgeous), so if I’m ever rich and want a tan, I’ll totally try these out!

This looks perfect on you!

How do you feel about powder vs. cream bronzers? I just got a cream one from Stila (their Marigold duo) and it just feels really weird and hard to blend in properly, vs. my powder ones :/ I dunno if I’m just doing it wrong though!
Karen says
Hi Ada,
I like both but prefer powders for days when I’m in a hurry just because I can work ’em faster. What are you using to apply/blend your cream bronzer? I’ve tried a bunch of different things and find that a skunk brush works best for me.
Ada says
I’ve just been blending with my fingers! I’ll try the skunk brush tip, thank you so much 🙂

This looks really nice on you. I would love to buy one of the lighter shades but here in Germany I would have to pay 40 € = 56 $
*Sigh*
Karen says
Hmm. Do you currently have a bronzer? If you use this every day I think you might be able to justify the cost if it becomes a staple.
LPunkt says
No, I’m still searching and torn between Bronze Universel by Chanel, Duo Poudre Effet Bronzant by Annayake, (Refined) Golden Bronzer by Mac and – since your post – the Lancome Star Bronzer 😉
Phyrra says
It gives you such a nice subtle glow.
Karen says
Thanks, Phyrra!

I felt that way when I first heard about the Kindle- I didn’t really love the idea and I love to read- I read an average of 3 books a month but sometimes I can read 2-3 a week if I have time. I ended up wanting an E-reader once I knew more about them and now I have a Nook. It’s comfortable to hold, has plenty of memory and I love that I can shop for new books from my couch, lol! I have a huge e-wishlist on B&N.com and it’s easy to browse for new material.
The Nook I have isn’t the color one, but the one with wifi and 3g so you always have a connection..the next step down you need to be in a hotspot to shop or download new books.
I don’t have color but I don’t read magazines or anything on it so I don’t mind. Most books are 9.99. They also have free and discounted books available and if you bring your Nook into a Barnes and Noble store you can read books for free and get special deals and features. It holds mp3’s too.
My only complaint is that it freezes sometimes :/ I’ll be reading and the page forward button suddenly won’t work-when that happens you just hold down the power button and it restarts. It has a short start-up time so this isn’t a big problem but it’s annoying enough to mention. It seems to happen mostly when I’ve had it on for awhile, like around two hours of it being active and online. It’s up to you if that’s a problem you can deal with or not.
I don’t have any experience with other E-readers so I don’t know if this is a problem exclusive to the Nook… or if maybe it is but the other brands have their own little issues? If I were you I would read the online reviews and try and ask people about the pros and cons of other models.
Overall I am loving having an E-reader and as someone who said the same thing you did about books, I feel like I had to share! Sorry it’s so long!
