Here’s a Face of the Day that I did with Lola Laptop’s Color to Go in “Joy.” I’m a sucker for packaging, and I love how sleek and sophisticated this looks.

What I liked about it
– Cute packaging
– Captive Eyeshadow is a beautiful, highly pigmented bronze.
– Gloss has a great texture and is not sticky
– Huge mirror in compact
– Unusual color combo

What I didn’t like about it
– Lots of large chunky glitter in the gold enchant shadow (too disco for me)
– No lip brush

So I never wear pinks on my eyes but this palette helped to push me out of my regular makeup comfort zone, which I appreciate. Here’s what I used:

– Enchant on the brow bone
– Captive on lid
– Charm on outer third of lid
– Cherish on lash line

On my lips I first applied a layer of Allure, which looks dark in the pan but is actually very sheer. I popped a thin layer of Entice on top.

I have to admit, it took me a while to figure this palette out. These shadow colors are shades that I’m not normally immediately drawn to, but after some practice (and lots of blending) I liked the result of the eye very much. I felt like I had to use a lot of color to get it to show up, but that may just be because I have darker skin.

If you are lighter then I suspect you’ll have an easier time with this. Oh, and while it’s not quite my style, if you like big flashy glitter gold glitter than you’ll love the highlight color, Cherish.

The Lola Laptop Color to Go Palette is $36.00.

Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B

I’m exhausted, ya’ll. The last two days have really taken a lot out of me. I think I’m crashing from the adrenaline rush, plus I’ve had very little sleep and too much coffee.

I’m glad it’s Friday because today is my day off and I’m looking forward to digging into more of the Lola Holiday/Fall loot today. Perhaps I’ll even pop by the movies to catch the new Resident Evil flick, too.

Hope your Friday so far has been fun and that wherever you are that your feeling rested, happy and loved. Oh, and I also hope your brows look good, too! =)

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Looking good, Karen! Ha, I was drawn to Enchant shadow, too bad you say it’s chunky and too disco-like 🙁

Hope you’re vegging out and refueling!

I love golds, too. Especially soft golds!

Oh, no way! I was done at noon, thankfully. I’m falling asleep, so I’m gonna go check out the handbag selection at Ross (damn if I wasn’t cheap!!). Otherwise, totally stopping at Corte Madera tomorrow!

I don’t think one can have enough golds! Do you have a favorite? Right now I love Woodwinked and Mulch!

Did you find anything at good at Ross?!? (I’m secretly hoping NO so you can get that bag!)

Gold Dusk pigment is my favorite gold! Rye is probably my favorite gold shadow.

No! I did find a cute bag, but I was afraid it wouldn’t be thick enough, and sure enough, it wasn’t (bought it to try).

You really don’t mind if we end up with similar bags?!

Mej, wow, what a lovely complements. 🙂 I’ve read your blog and I enjoy your writing too!

And who knows…maybe your blog will lead you to freelance assignments in your neck of the woods. You never know!

In this look I went sans blush. Part of it was laziness. I wanted to use MAC Ablaze and I couldn’t find it so I didn’t put any on, ha ha ha.

One of these days I’ll get around to taking pics of it all. One reason why I haven’t done it so far is that I’d have evidence as to the amount I’ve got around, and then I’d have to *really come clean*! I like to live in the fantasy in that I always need more stuff.

OH! Today to “relax” I went to the Chanel Counter and drooled over all the Fall stuff! I somehow got conned into going back to get a makeover with a Chanel National artist in a week. Seriously, I am my own makeup pimp.

Have a wonderful weekend, girl! Talk soon!

Yay! Okay, I’m going to try and go tomorrow on our way up that way. We’re probably spending the night, which means (according to my boyfriend) that we have to stay for football on Sunday, too. So if I’m stuck doing that, he can wait 15-20 minutes while I go get my sweet new bag!

I can’t believe there isn’t a store in the south bay. They need to open one!

What are you doing to relax this Friday night?

We just got back from watching the new Resident Evil. I gorged myself on popcorn, candy and an Icee. Yum…

Earlier today I broke down and bought a clear plastic drawer unit (*not* from Container Store) and HALLELUJAH is all I have to say. No more plastic bags full of makeup.

How about you? Are ya blogging away?

AND yay, for your bag! I peeked in there today and saw the one I almost got – the black with white piping. SO CUTE, and goes with everything.

How was Resident Evil? We had uhh, apple crisp that I baked ourselves.

Ohh, sounds like picture time may be soon!

I’m good, getting tired, will probably head to bed soon. I did blog some more! Cranked out two for tonight and have one set to post tomorrow.

They’re so reasonably priced you could get multiples! Haha 😉

It was okay. I liked the first and second one more. There was some serious photoshopping of Mila’s closeups…it was really obvious. El Hub noticed too, and he’s clueless!

Apple crisp sounds delicious! (And there’s fruit and fiber in it.) Did you have it with ice cream?

Yeah, if there’s time for football, there’s time for you to get you a bag! And while you’re at it go next door to the Blue Mercury store and peep all of the NARS shadows. OMG…heaven.

And sadly, I think I will have to get at least one more clear plastic unit. This one is nearly filled to the rim and with Matte2 and our trip to the Pro Store (now I want Gold Dusk and Rye, ha ha ha) around the corner … well, I can already see where this is going.

Have a good night! Dream of MAC!

    Hey Etirv!

Aww, thank you for coming by, girlfriend! Dunno what your skin tone is like, but there might be other versions of this palette that might work for ya – I know that on the Sephora site there’s one with summer-inspired colors.

Are you a palette kinda girl? Got any recommendations that I should check out?

Wow, photoshopped? Interesting. I’ve only seen the second one, ha. If I can get me a bag real quick, I might be able to swing by the store without getting the boyfriend all antsy. I told him he could stay in the car while I can in!

    Don’t forget Mattene…. Alexander McQueen… all the holiday stuff…

    Lisa T!

Truth be told, these were some great shadows, *except* for Enchant (the highlight) which really stressed me out. I don’t really understand why they were paired together this way, but I could forsee using them with other Brands to make a soft pretty eye, like:

Cherish (the taupe) with MAC Shroom or Ricepaper.
Captive (the bronze) as a light wash all over the lid, then with black liner on the top lashline or black on the top and bottom waterline
Charm (the pink) as a blush by itself, or combined with Brun MAC shadow.

I think if you have a good working base of other colors it’s worth it. However, if you don’t really have a lot save your money and invest in a few key shadows first!
