The Secret to Exceptional Lash Length, Curl and Definition Resides in Every Tube of Clarins Be Long Mascara

August 23rd, 2013 by Karen 14 Comments

Clarins Be Long Mascara
Super smiley because of new Be Long Mascara by Clarins ($25)

I gotta give credit to Clarins for getting straight to the point when they named new Be Long Mascara. Just one coat of this stuff on my fringe, and I’m yelling “My lashes be hella long!!” at the top of my lungs in the bathroom.

That’s usually how I know a mascara has crossed over from pretty good to great. 🙂

Be Long banishes jet lag even better than melatonin! You might not think that a three-hour time difference could throw off your sleeping schedule, but it totally can.

I look and feel tired…and over the years, after many mascara trials, I’ve learned that one of the easiest ways to look perkier/less exhausted is to apply a layer of a lengthening, curling mascara to your lashes.

On the left: no mascara; on the right: one coat

Nothing fakes a bright, doe-eyed look like a little extra lash length and curl. I think the extra length and curl work even better for this than specialized lash volume/thickening mascaras.

And formulas that also separate and define every lash work even better. When the goal is looking less tired, I don’t want bundles of long, clumpy lashes (which, yeah, do have their time and place, like at night when I’m feeling a little artsy).

Be Long delivers the exceptional length, curl and separation that work together as a tonic for sleepy eyes.

I’m totally enamored with this stuff and how it stretches, grabs and defines even the shortest stubs. One coat after a quick curl from my Shu Uemura Lash Curler, and my fringe looks fabulously full and lifted all day, no flakes or smudges.

The brush, which picks up a perfect amount of product (no need to remove any excess by wiping it across a paper towel), must be the secret sauce. It gives each lash the special treatment, coating it individually from base to tip and combing through every hair without leaving behind any clumps or bumps.

But that’s not all! Clarins says their Be Long Complex growth-activating formula will also make your lashes grow longer over time.

Yeah…we’ll see. I don’t expect to see a difference after a few days (mine still look just as short and stubby as ever!), but if/when I do, you’ll be the first to know.

But even if my lashes never grow another millimeter, I still love this mascara, especially in Intense Black, the color I’ve been wearing. It’s a true black without any blue, gray or green tones, and it makes my naturally black lashes look much more intense.

It also comes in a brown shade, if that’s more your style.

I don’t think you can go wrong with Be Long Mascara, especially if you crave lash length, curl and definition. It’s an exceptional mascara worthy of any makeup bag.

Your lashes really be hella long!

I just picked up the Le Volume in Khaki Bronze, and the Bare Minerals Locked and Loaded waterproof topcoat, because I want the Le Volume look for my wedding, but can’t risk running mascara! I’ll be putting the Locked and Loaded through a battery of tests.

The Khaki Bronze is perfect with my blue eyes and fair complexion.

September 21st, so 4 weeks from tomorrow!

Need to start experimenting with eye makeup looks – I got the skin/blush/lips portion pretty much down, I think. (Becca Beach Tint in grapefruit will be involved – that’s become a go-to lip and cheek product for me!)

Yeah, I’m really, REALLY happy with this one. I can’t remember the last time I got lashes this long with hardly any work. 🙂

Woah, it really looks nice with only one coat! I’ve never tried Clarins’ mascaras before, would you say this one is the best they have? 😀

Does it easy to remove/wash off, Karen? I hate mascara that sticks and I have to wash it like 3 times to get it off my lashes (part of the reason I don’t like waterproof mascara). If it’s fairly easy to remove then it looks like a winner!

WOW. Karen, this makes your lashes look amazing! I’m all about getting really punchy lashes that still look natural, so I might just have to give this one a go 😉 It really does give you beautiful length and separation!
