Be a Dear, Burt, and Thank Your Bees for Me: I Love Burt’s Bees Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme

December 27th, 2010 by Karen 47 Comments

You remember Burt’s Bees Lemon Butter Cuticle Cream, right? My cuticles fell madly in love, and because they loved it so much, I’ve been interested in trying more of Burt’s hand products.

I picked up their Almond Milk Beeswax Hand Creme ($9) the other day on a whim. I was at Target at the time, buying toilet paper because I can’t trust El Hub to do it anymore (he always gets the cheap stuff that feels like sandpaper), and spotted Burt’s familiar packaging.

This thick, moisturizing cream, which feels almost like a salve (read: REALLY thick, like cold butter), has been around for a while as part of Burt’s permanent collection. It’s made from all natural ingredients, stuff like sweet almond oil and aloe, and has a light almond fragrance that’s easy on my sensitive nose.

It takes a little longer to absorb than a your run-of-the-mill hand creams, but my paws just love this stuff to pieces. I can hear them let out a hearty “Ahhhh…” when I massage it in, LOL! Right after, the product appears to leave behind a slightly greasy residue, but it completely disappears within a few minutes.

I wash my hands often, especially during cold and flu season, and that does a number on my paws. Burt’s Almond Milk quenches their thirst and keeps them supple and soft.

Burt, if you’re reading this, let me start by saying thanks for making such a great product (thanks!)…but if it’s not too much to ask, would you consider a version with tougher packaging? The glass jar doesn’t feel tough enough to toss into a clutch, so how about something built a little better for travel? Just an idea. 🙂

This is one of my favorite hand products of all time. I picked up a sampler set from Amazon awhile back & fell in love! I like the smaller size jar too although you get considerably less product. I wish they could put this in a squeeze tube!

A squeeze tube would be awesome. 🙂

You’re up late! Are you a night own naturally?

Unfortunately, yes. I find my most productive hours are between 6pm & 12am…I thought that would’ve changed after having a baby but he sleeps in till 9am so I don’t have to worry about getting up early. Are you a night owl too?

I am naturally, but I’ve trained myself to become a morning person because I find I write better in the AM. I’m up unusually late tonight… damn insomnia!

I went to bed but never fell asleep – guess I’m having a bout of insomnia too.

Maybe right side brain-ers think better in the AM and left side brain-ers think better in the PM!

Have you tried Burt’s Beeswax & Banana hand cream? It’s equally as awesome (although my husband would vehemently disagree as he can’t stand the smell of bananas).

I’m with your hubby on the banana thing. I’m SUPER picky about mine — I can only stand them when they are just a little green, with absolutely no spots. The minute they start getting spotty then I pass ’em on to El Hub.

I stayed up really late watching TV last night! Did you get any sleep at all?

Not only does he hate the smell of bananas, he’s allergic to them too. I guess the Beeswax & Banana would make you run for the hills then! 😀

After tossing & turning I finally got up at 3:30am for good. I’m paying for it today though! I’m so sleepy I can barely keep my eyes open….the recliner in my office is totally calling my name.

      Hi Heidi,

I wish I found this lotion sooner. It’s amazing! I think I’m officially hooked on Burt’s Bees. 🙂

Do you love any other products from the line? Would love to hear about them!

Well, let’s see… They make a couple of great cleansers: for drier skin there’s an orange cleanser that smells just like fresh squeezed orange juice, it’s amazing and really hydrating. For oiler skin their deep pore cleansing cream is great. I also love their radiance body lotion, it adds a nice shimmer to the skin. And my mom swears by their peppermint foot lotion.

This looks nice 🙂 I like the white content + white packaging. Would you happen to know if this bottle is similar to the one used for Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream? ‘Coz that bottle can take a lot of trashing. I carry it with me all the time, just chucked into my handbag and it always survives.

Oh, the Eight Hour Jar? Man, that’s good stuff. I know that Elizabeth Arden’s is a smaller 1-oz., which makes it easier for travel. This one’s kinda bulky and awkward (but still cute).

Does anybody tote this stuff around?

I wouldn’t know 🙂 It does seem weird to tote glass bottles around as most brands have To-Go versions of their stuff like L’Occitane’s hand cream tubes and Clinique’s Moisture Surge spray. Hopefully Burt will get there as well.

They do sell this brand in Oslo but not the full range I believe. A girl can never have too many hand creams so I’ll take a peek next time I’m out 🙂

This sounds wonderful, I’ll check it out. I wash my hands a lot and they can get quite dry in winter so I’m always looking for a good moisturizing hand cream to keep them soft and supple. The jar packaging is cute, but I would rather it came in a squeeze tube too.

It’s not overwhelmingly banana scented, in my opinion – but it’s definitely noticeable.

It reminds me of ripe bananas with just the slightest hint of banana Laffy Taffy. The scent fades after you rub it in, but if you put your nose right next to your hand (I do this a lot for whatever reason) you can still smell the banana. Oh, and when you open the jar, you can most definitely smell it.
