Oh, happy day, ladies! Illamasqua’s *finally* available on the Sephora website. :)

If you’re thinking about picking up a tube of Sheer Lipgloss ($19) and the color I tested today is any indication, brace yourself for serious sheerness. Today I wore Rouse, a creamy light pink. It’s one of the 10 shades currently available through Sephora online.

Subtle hint of color

Despite how deliriously bright it looks in the tube, Rouse applies as a subtle pink tint — so subtle, in fact, that it almost looks like I’m wearing clear gloss.

I’m on the fence about Rouse on account of her pigmentation (or lack thereof). My lips aren’t uber-full or pigmented, so I usually lean toward glosses with more color payoff, you know? — brighter colors that draw more attention to my otherwise uninspiring lips.

But women like my BFF Jen — blessed with full, luscious lips — may prefer a sheer, low-key color like Rouse, especially for work.

If you’re one of those ladies, then haaay — jackpot!

Everything else

As for texture, I’d say Illamasqua Sheer Lipgloss feels slightly thinner and less sticky than a MAC Lipglass (in a good way), and I kinda like the faintly fruity flavor and scent (reminds me of hard candy, yum!).

The texture keeps me interested in Rouse despite how sheer it is, so I’m gonna keep the color around for days when I’m not in the mood for a high-maintenance pink or red lip.

Sometimes you just want a non-fussy lip look, and those are times when Rouse will do me just fine.

  • you like tasty, fragrant lip products.

Oooh nooo, Karen. I’ll be sticking to the intense glosses. My sephora wish list is very long right now. I can’t wait to order friday. By the way, sephora now has the makeup forever hd concealer. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and I really like it. Interested?

  2. shontay says:

I get paid tomorrow, so that’s when I’m going to place my order. I don’t have enough at the moment to haul everything I want. I like to order big. That’s one of my faults. Lol
I want at least 3 glosses and 1 cream blush.

I want the intense glosses in Fierce, Fume, Mistress and Temper. So that’s bright grape, dark rose, bright coral orange and bright tangerine. I also want libido cream blush and sephora describes it as vibrant reddish orange. I’m drooling while typing this. Lol

I am a merchandise coordinator at Saks Fifth Avenue. That’s a fancy way of saying I’m responsible for the look of the store. I merchandise all the merchandise that comes in. So that means I see everything first because I also open all the boxes when shipment arrives! Not a good line of work for a shopaholic, but there’s a rockin’ discount and I go in early and get out early. I really like my job and the people I work with. Thanks for asking, Karen :).

      Hi Shontay,

I was *this close* to hauling Libido. I ended up going with Lies, a light pink. :)

Your job sounds cool (um, can I just live in Saks? LOVE!). It’s probably really fun to see what stuff is coming out from the lines before everybody else sees it, huh? I bet your closet is amazing! I used to be a clothes horse when I worked in the corporate world, but now not so much since I’m at home most of the time and my only co-worker is a chubby tabby cat. I still appreciate a well put together outfit, though.

Thanks for the review – I think I’m gonna pass. I’m more excited for a few of the upcoming MAC releases and some of the Lancome indigo line. I will definitely try Illamasqua’s eyeshadows though… and maybe the funky eyelashes. So pretty.

  5. Catherine says:

Hm. I was kind of hoping for a little more kick haha. I have fairly pigmented lips so I’m guessing this won’t show up on me at all. The texture sounds nice but $19 is a bit too steep for a clear gloss.

I really like this.. but I’m unsure if something so sheer is worth 20 big ones. I have highly (very highly) pigmented lips so this would literally wind up being clear on me. I wonder if it would work on top of a brighter colour(?)

Such a pretty color………can’t get this brand here though…:(

That’s a pretty gloss! Though I’d go with the intense colour ones for the price. This helps us learn to not judge by looks alone! LOL

      Hi Marcela,

Yeah… I like how low-maintenance this is, but I dunno. I’m gonna wait to see the other colors. Hopefully they’ll have more oomph. :)

    Hey Karen,

Seeing everything before all the customers is the best part of my job. It’s funny, though, because I don’t buy clothes from saks. I buy up the Chanel makeup and designer bags. My clothing style runs more toward urban outfitters and h&m. Today we got in some new burberry scarves and I thought I would die. They are a must have! :)

  10. hmmm the sheer factor is not wooing me at the moment.

if i wanted supersheer i could just go with a drugstore brand… it’s more the illamasqua lipsticks that i can’t wait to get my hands on!

This is one of the glosses I really want to try from this line. Even though it’s sheer, it looks pretty!

I’m not so much of a sheer girl, myself! I can see that looking very pretty over a lipstick though, like UD lipstick in Naked, maybe?

  13. Brigitte says:

Yepp, I tried Rouse and it was definitely a bit too light for me. :\ I’m more into the pigmented glosses, I suppose. I’m also sort of sad the intense glosses are more matte than super shiny. Ah, but the Illamasqua lipsticks are godly. :D
