A Highlight in the New Printemps Précieux de Chanel Spring 2013 Collection: The Limited Edition Chanel Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder

December 28th, 2012 by Karen 16 Comments

Wearing Chanel Poudre Signée de Chanel Highlighting Powder ($68), from the new Printemps Précieux de Chanel Spring 2013 Collection

A few things I firmly believe that all women should have:

  1. Access to funny movies after a long, hard day (some of my favorites: Clueless, Blue Crush and The Wedding Singer)
  2. A friend or family member who will always pick up the phone, even in the middle of the night, when you just need someone to talk to
  3. At least one piece of makeup so breathtakingly beautiful that it comforts you every time you see it, and for this, might I suggest the new Poudre Signée de Chanel Illuminating Powder?

I know there are far, far less expensive comforting treats out there than a $68 highlighter, but let me tell ya, when I’m feeling extra agitated/orange alert/ready to shank strangers at the drop of a hat, there’s just something to be said for Chanel.

With Chanel’s seasonal collections, they typically release one really expensive signature piece, and it’s the piece that many collectors and die-hards look forward to the most.

Sometimes, I think these extra extravagances are way too overpriced, or just kind of “meh,” but in the case of this warm peachy beige powder, Coco and crew did us a solid.

Check out the design on that pan… I mean, really!? It’s like a work of art! See the camilla flowers (Mademoiselle’s favorite!) and the tiny little makeup tubes??

I love those little details…

Once you get over the heartbreak of disrupting the design for the first time, you’ll feel better about using this rare gem, and before you know it, you won’t even want to leave the house without the soft luminosity its satiny finish gives to your skin. 🙂

Have you ever looked up from under a cherry blossom tree on a sunny day and seen the way the light filters through the branches and petals? That’s how I think of this powder’s effect, like a soft, glowing halo, instead of a harsh shimmer, and I think it’s beyond beautiful, especially on mature skin.

I primarily wear Poudre Signée as a basic highlighter, swiping it across my upper cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose, and along my brow bones and cupid’s bow, but I think it also works great as a powder all over the face, where it perks me up like a triple espresso. 🙂

PRICE: $68
AVAILABILITY: Available now at Chanel counters, stores and chanel.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+ (I think it’s absolutely gorgeous, but it costs an arm and a leg)

Karen

I just got this 2 days ago and I am in LOVE!!! I haven’t used it yet of course (it’s still being photographed) but I played with it at the counter and it’s pure perfection!! 😀 It’s also REALLY fun to photograph with the gorgeous embossing and raised texture, don’t you think? 😛

That looks beautiful! I wish it wasn’t that expensive. Btw, have you ever made it to the hair salon before Christmas?

You look so glowy and elegant! This is definitely not in the grad student budget!

I’ve seen the Wedding Singer more times than I can count. My middle school/high school BFF and I watched it almost every time we had a sleepover.

This looks so beautiful, but I am trying to resist! I have so many highlighters, I would rather pick up some other things from Chanel Spring. But, we’ll see what happens, as I’m on my way to check it out in person…

I think I will stick with my Benefit Watts Up! and also Too Faced Candlelight Glow. These are very similar without the heavy price tag.

glowy! Love it! I am always shy of these highlighters since their effect sometimes accentuates, rather than airbrushes flaws on my face. Same with too sparkly eyeshadows. BUt on your word I will have to check it out in person. Love your eye look in this- what products did you use?

The first thing I did when I got to work yesterday was stop by the Chanel counter to pick this up. I’m so glad I did! It’s my birthday gift to myself 🙂
