Is this a 10-minute makeup look because it took me 10 minutes to do…or is it a 10-minute makeup look because I only had it on for 10 minutes?
I don’t know!
Oh, goodness… I’m wearing lots of NARS Erdem Strange Flowers in these pics, and there’s a certain irony to this because I was outside walking among the flowers and the nature for approximately 10 minutes before I had to rush inside and wash everything off. Because my allergies went OFF!
It’s been particularly bad so far this year. My eyes started watering like Trevi Fountain, man. So, yeah. Didn’t get to wear this look all day long, which is what I wanted to do, but at least I had 10 minutes of semi-glamour, and sometimes that’s enough.
Couple things about the NARS Erdem pieces I’m wearing in this look…
I mean, you might recognize most of the “greatest hits” items in this pic because I’ve talked about most of the face products before, but if there’s anything you’re curious about, lemme know.
As for the NARS Erdem pieces, both the Fleur Fatale Eyeshadow Palette and Poison Rose Lip Powder Palette look like they could lean neutral, or maybe even slightly warm, but on my skin (I’m somewhere between NARS St. Moritz and Cuba), both the eye palette and lip palette appear extremely cool-toned, so that’s something to keep in mind if you were considering either of them.
Also — oh, my gosh — the blush? Loves Me? It’s hella bright and SO PIGMENTED. I dabbed a bit on my cheeks and was like, yeah, I should probably take that down a few steps.
I took the foundation brush I used to apply my base makeup (a MAC 187S… It’s a’ight. I used it because it was clean and convenient.) and ran it across the tops of my cheeks to lift some of the blush off and blend it down into the skin a little more.
There are also two dual-ended Chanel brushes in this pic — the Definer/Smudger Brush and the Blender/Shader Brush — and they’re both epic. Both are sensationally soft and feel luxurious in my hands. If you’re into quick looks, they’re great because you can just flip them back and forth to go between the brushes. Plus, they never shed.
They are kind of expensive, though, at $42 each, but I love them and use them all the time.

Karen

Another pretty look! I love that lipstick. Perfect for spring. I’m sorry about the allergies! Do they get better after spring is over?
Hope you have a great weekend!

Hey lady! I think this lippie would look great on you!
Did you come back from vacay with a tan?
Ruchita says
I’m experimenting more with bold lip colors. This would be a fun one to try!
I actually got quite dark on vacation even with wearing sun screen. The sun is very intense down there. I’m not complaining, though! It was amazing compared to the weather back at home.

Your pics were amazing! I’m so glad you were able to enjoy your time there. I bet the kitties were so happy to see you when you got back, too.
Did your hubby have fun geeking out?
Ruchita says
Thank you! It was really nice to get away for a relaxing vacation. And I always love being near the ocean.
My husband had a very geeky time! There were around 40 people from around the world who came to geek out. It was fun meeting new people!
And I got to let some kitties too, so overall it was a great vacation. 🙂

Oh, me too. I live near the bay and can see it from certain spots in my neighborhood but there’s nothing like dipping your toes into the waves. Did you do much swimming?
Glad to hear your hubs enjoyed himself too. I bet he learned a lot as well!
P.S. Beach vacation kitties are the best. 🙂

I was able to swim one day. Unfortunately the surface was too high the other days. There’s something about bobbing around in the ocean that puts a huge smile on my face!
Do you have any plans for the weekend? I need to get caught up on real life stuff like laundry and grocery shopping.
Karen says
Well that’s good! Were you able to hop in a pool at least on the other days?
This weekend is a home improvement weekend. El Hub and I are going to Home Depot to get plants for the front yard and the back deck (tomatoes!), and we’re also gonna buy a new faucet. I’ve got my eye on a touchless one but ugh, so $$$!
Ruchita says
Oh fresh, garden tomatoes! That’s one of the things I love about spring/summer. Can’t wait til it’s warm enough here to plant veggies.
Is Tabs enjoying time on the catio?
The pool at the hotel was kind of small, but I still spent time on the beach and walked along the beach. My legs got a good workout!

So sorry to hear that your allergies are so bad this year. I am (fingers crossed) not affected so far, but that might change now that spring has finally arrived to Germany.
Karen says
Thanks! And thank goodness for allergy meds. 🙂

Gorgeous look! Sorry your allergies are bothering you so much.

Such a stunning look on you. Can something look simple yet dramatic? If so, you nailed it. Sorry that you didn’t get to enjoy it for the rest of the day but at least you got a picture! The shadow on the inner eye looks light lavender on you–it’s not what I expected the palette to look like on.

I feel like I start almost every post with “that’s a great look on you and your skin looks amazing”. I’m thinking of cutting and pasting to save time! 😉 But, seriously, I’m sorry you had to take it off so quickly and that your allergies are bad. Hopefully it will be a short allergy season. And you really do look great!
