9 Pastels, a Panini Press and the Butter London Spring 2013 Sweetie and Starkers Collections

February 26th, 2013 by Karen 25 Comments

Butter London Sweetie and Starkers Spring 2013 Collections
The nine-piece Butter London Spring 2013 Collection ($15 each bottle), available now online and at Butter London counters and Nordstrom

Today my brain politely offered me two options. One, I could spend the afternoon experimenting with my new Sunbeam Panini Press (and eating said food experiments)…or two, I could catch up on spring nail polish swatches.

Panini Press Madness!
The Sunbeam Panini Press, my new BFF

Tough decision…

But technically, the panini press isn’t new. I’ve had it since Christmas (of 2010!) and just kind of forgot about it.

Whoops!

Over the past few days, I’ve made a couple of grilled cheese sandwiches with it, a delicious grilled shrimp burrito (!) and a quesadilla with brie and pear.

But again, it’s not new, so I opted for the swatches…in part due to my muffin top, which has been feeling extra muffin-y lately…

I’ve also been going through a pastel nails phase, and the colors in the Butter London Spring 2013 Collection are scratching the itch. 🙂

This year, Butter London divided their spring launch into two parts — the six-piece Sweetie Shop collection and three-piece Starkers collection. Each bottle goes for $15 a pop.

Butter London Kerfuffle Swatch

Butter London Jasper Swatch

Butter London Fiver Swatch

Butter London Molly Coddled Swatch

The Starkers sub-collection

Butter London Shandy Swatch

Butter London Crumpet Swatch

Butter London Tea & Toast Swatch

I’m diggin’ the colors and eye-catching shine, but I’m having a little trubs with the brush…

It’s not a big deal, but I wish it had a sharper, crisper edge that could lay down the colors more evenly. The formula also feels a tad too thick for my liking, but c’est la vie, right?

What do you think? Do any of these shades catch your eye?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

OMG, I love that there’s one called Crumpet! I really like the first 4 pastels, and I’ve seen Five Spot everywhere! I really love pastel nail polishes. Makes me think spring is unfurling soon! Woohoo! I still want to get Butter London’s Trout Pout at some point; the color AND the name are awesome…

Hi Kristen, I have Trout Pout, and even though it’s a really pretty bright salmon pink, I find that the formula is not as nice as other BL nail polishes.

This is just the sweetest collection ever! They kind of remind me of ice-cream colours or macaroons. I’m really loving the peachy shades, very wearable and amazing on warmer skin tones. And Karen, how can you forget about your panini maker? It’s awesome! ^^

Quesadilla with pear and brie?! Well aren’t you just a fancy pants! Sounds delish! I agree with Teri about the peachy shades on the warm skin tones. As I was scrolling through the pix I was totally thinking, “Oooh, those might look pretty awesome on me!”

Yes! I am definitely lusting after Kerfuffle, Jasper, and Fiver…as well as your panini press. Well, any panini press. I have been wanting to get one for a long time, but I don’t want to shell out a ridiculous price for it. XD Perhaps Black Friday? 😀

And I have a cream crimson on my nails today, not a big fan of pastels 🙂

I totally agree with you, I have a butter london nail polish and I really don’t like the formulation. Like you said, it doesn’t apply easily, but I also feel it chips easily.

For not being a pastel kind of girl, Kerfuffle and Shandy catch my eye.

I keep reading Starker as Stalker but, aside from that, I think the whole range is pretty. 🙂

Nice job with the panini press, btw. Love your pear/brie combo. May I also suggest pear, gorgonzola, spinach and toasted pine nut? It’s even better with bacon but I know you don’t roll with the swine. “Sewer rat might taste like pumpkin pie”, comes to mind. 🙂

I’m so fascinated by Butter! I love Crumpet but the rest, I’m not feeling. I just don’t get the easter egg trend!

Not sure about the last two shades, but these are all incredibly gorgeous! Kerfuffle would probably be my first choice.
