The Essie Winter 2015 Collection

Your lift ticket awaits to Chalet Essie! It’s a winter wonderland of chic, but don’t worry about freezing your tush off, because the six new nail polishes in the Essie Winter 2015 collection ($8.50 each) will keep you warm. 🙂

There are three bold shades for babes (and dudes!) who like luxurious nail colors, and three lower-key lacquers for laid back luxe.

I’m wearing two coats of each color in these swatches, and the only one that gave me trubs is Peak Show, the creamy, powdery pink. It went on a little streaky…

The other five took to the slopes like pros! — especially Haute Tub, that beautiful black with amethyst glitter.

SO HOT, that Haute Tub. (Random side note: did you know that pregnant ladies are supposed to avoid hot tubs? Oh, well! Guess that means no trips in my hot tub time machine.)

As for the reds, both are incredibly silky smooth…

I’m a big Essie fan, and I love how long they last on my nails. With two layers and a base and top coat, I get six or seven days on my fingers and sometimes as long as three weeks on my toes (!).

To sign up for your very own chic ski and spa adventure, look for the Essie Winter 2015 collection now at drugstores, salons, Ulta stores and online.

First one to the lodge is a deviled egg! 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Wow, that whitish pink is so pretty, and the whitish blue too! I love those kinds of colors, but they’re so hard to find in good, opaque (but not gloppy), or non-streaky formulas. Just another reminder of why I love Essie polishes! There’s really no reason to pay for a higher end polish when these perform so awesomely.

Not gonna lie, this particular collection isn’t doing it for me. The colors are all so uninspired.

I love the Apres Chic platinum shade, but the two whited shades are quite unique and perfect for a winter collection. I am just trying out the essie gel topcoat along with an essie polish, as they suggest, and I’m curious to see how long I can go without chipping. With the sheer-ish polish I picked, it’s kinda hard to tell!

It’s true about the hot tubs. My OB explained it this way: “If your body temperature gets higher than 104, your baby’s brain gets cooked like a poached egg.” That’s why you have to avoid hot tubs, saunas/steam rooms, Bikram or hot yoga etc.
Kinda harsh but made an impression on me.

    Love the black!

I knew the hot tub thing because a girlfriend is getting her tubes tied next month and we’re having a not-having-a-baby-shower where we do all the things you can’t do when you’re pregnant – alcohol, sushi, soft cheeses, saunas, etc.

Hmm, I just bought Tom Ford’s Black Out, which is black with micro shimmer. Haute Tub is very similar. I want to run out and find a bottle today, so I can wear it for Halloween tomorrow.
I have to admit, Virgin Snow does remind me of freshly fallen snow in the morning light. Brrr.

      Hi Tatiana,

Were you able to get the polish to wear for Halloween? I hope so!

Love Haute tub.Looks like a possible dupe for the pricey Tom Ford Holiday polish. I just can’t pay close to $40 for a polish as gorgeous as it is. I did think about it last night. But, this must be a sign, lol! Hey, remember those Bare Trap boots you got at DSW? I wound up getting them in grey with a 25% discount today! I also got a cute pair of Minnetonka slippers for $19! Yeah for shoe deals!

      Hi Nicole,

Yay, glad you got the boots! (And on sale, woot!) Have you had the chance to wear them? I wore mine today.

What do your slippers look like? I need a pair!

Nope, I had to order them! So, they are on the way. I couldn’t decide on the grey or black and wound up going with grey. I have my slippers though! They are Minnetonka Trapper. Just little moccasin type with fur lining. Nice and cozy suede. Basically a knock off of the Ugg slipper. I’m sure the $100 Ugg is much more cozy. But these are pretty good for a house shoe. They are like $29. But I had a $10 off coupon. I like Minnetonka’s I have a few pair of boots ,moccasin, and sandals by them. Super comfy! They will be tight a bit when you first get them, if you do. The suede gives a lot quickly. I wear and 7.5 or 8 in flats and got and 8. If you are delivering in the hospital, I’d suggest getting a pair of slippers before otherwise they will make you wear those socks with treads and they are really not non-slip. You will want to get up and be mobile as son as your are feeling up to it. But, certainly don’t want to risk a stumble. Happy Halloween! 🙂

How do you make nail polish last for that long?! I’m lucky if I get 48hrs before it starts to crack and chip. I use top and base coats – do you have any other special tricks?

      Hi K,

I take the polish around the edge and then slightly underneath the edge of the nail. I do that with the top coat too! Throughout the week I’ll do an additional top coat, and whenever I do things like wash dishes, I always wear gloves. Those things seem to help. Oh, and it also depends on the top coat too. Some work better than others. HTH and let me know if you have any other questions.

Funnily enough, I just picked up a bottle of Essie polish on Wednesday. You’ll be stunned to know it was Madamoiselle. So daring, as always! 🙂
