When Lining Eyes with Gels or Powder Eyeshadow
Sun, 03/8/2009 by Karen | Posted in: MAC Makeup, Video
For years I happily lined my eyes with pencil liners. Then, I read about fluid liners on Specktra.net, and it opened a world of possibilities!
Here are a couple brushes I use to apply different types of eyeliner (click for the video).

I am really lovin that Amber lights FOTD. You’re whole look w/ that shirt [or dress?] is quity lovely. Nice video! I’ve been wondering about that LM liner brush. Right now I’m using the SK bent eyeliner brush but I’ve been wanting a brush for times when I want just very thin eyeliner.

Hey Karen,
I don’t own any dark, plummy eyeliners (yet!), but I did a little searching and one of your favorite brands for eyeliner has a waterproof formula with a deep berry shade. Lancome’s Le Crayon Khol Waterproof liner in “Rebellious Berry”: http://www.lancome-usa.com/makeup/eye-pencils-and-liners/le-crayon-khol-waterproof-spring-2009.htm. Let me know what you think. Honestly, I might try it out myself; my brown eyes could use a new, non-black eyeliner color!

Karen,
I use an angled brush like my one from EcoTools to apply my powder eyeshadow. I have three angled brushes now. One for my brows (el cheapo scratchy Studio Basics) and two eyeliner brushes. Hahahaha. I think I have ten brushes now…it’s becoming an obsession.
Oh, you know that EcoTools post you posted a very long time ago in January? If you get the other eye kit (the one without the mini-kabuki), the brushes are uber long, much longer than the ones you were holding. Much, MUCH longer.
They’re about two inches shorter than my Loew-Cornell painter brushes so they’re long. I use two of my Loew-Cornell brushes as make-up brushes as they’re fatty and long enough to cover the entire upper lid in one swipe despite being made to handle acrylic paints (i.e not as soft as most make-up brushes). To give you an idea of how long the EcoTool brushes are that I bought, my Loew-Cornell painter brushes are about eight-and-a-half inches long!
The retractable EcoTools kabuki brush is fun to play with too as you said in the post.
I’m very hyper for 11:35 at night. I hate DST!

I love an angled brush for shadow-as-eyeliner. Can’t remember whether mine is Sephora or MAC, but it’s great for tapering the inside corner and winging the outer end.

I cannot find my LM Lash Liner brush!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?!?? I have no idea how and when I lost it, but yesterday, when I did a lilac look, I really wanted to define my eyes softly with the dark navy marine blue cake liner from LM, and I could not for the sake of me find that darn brush!!
I ended up using the Sonia Kashuk angle brush, but that one is better for cream liners.

$25 make you holla! hahaha
I love the gel liners. I currently use MAC Fluidliner, MUFE gel liners & Bobbi Brown Gel liner. I have a Sephora brush and a MAC brush.

I use the MAC 210 for fluidlines. I tried a small angled brush but it just didn’t work for me. With the fine fine tip of the 210 I can see exactly what I’m doing
