What Do You Think of the New MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Packaging?

Published in: Just For Fun, MAC Makeup

New threads for the MAC Mineralize Skinfinishes ($32 each, available now at counters and online)

Saw these cuties at my home away from home the MAC counter yesterday.

I went because — well, you know, do I really need a reason? 🙂 — but I was also running low on Bulk Wipes and Cleanse-Off Oil.

What do you think of the new packaging for the Mineralize Skinfinishes?

From the left, that’s Global Glow, Cheeky Bronze, Soft and Gentle, and Gold Deposit

The cover looks a little sturdier than the O.G. version… As someone who’s always dropping things (le sigh!), I hope it is. I’ll probably find out soon enough, LOL!

What do you think?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

P.S. Happy Thursday, by the way.

  1. I guess the new ones look more modern, but I prefer the old packaging to be honest. Or maybe I just have to get used to the new one, that could also be it.

Much prefer the old packaging – why oh why have they changed it?!

  4. jenna says:

dislike them! Hopefully MAC doesn’t change the packaging of MSFN!

  5. Carly says:

Uh… no. The new packaging looks like a cheap, eBay fake.

  6. Kwmechelle says:

Oh bother, think I might be the only one who prefers the new packaging. Why? Because I broke the lid closure on my current one (makeup, however, stayed in tact, thank God!).

Anything that can help mitigate my occasional clumsiness is aight with me.

  7. Dee Dee says:

I dont like it at all, if i had seen this in a friends makeup collection i would be like, “awwwWWw bless your heart babydoll, you bought fake MAcZ”

  8. Yuck!! I thought this was limited edition packaging, not new permenant… not a fan 🙁

While I dont own any of these, I think the original packing somehow made more “sense”

I actually like these better! The old packaging was starting to look dated compared to their new collections and other things… I think they look pretty sleek!

  11. Dominique says:

It’s more classy in my opinion.

  12. Fancie says:

I prefer the old packaging. This looks kind of ugly lol. However, I wouldn’t mind adding Cheeky Bronze to my collection soon!

I dont love it… but I wonder if it means we’re going to see the old packaged ones popping up at CCO w/ a discount!

  14. Sylvia says:

I much prefer the old packaging. The new version looks kind of tacky and they’re way harder to open!

I don’t care one way or the other about the repackaging. but I’m happy to see Gold Deposit is being re-released since I just hit pan on my last backup. It’s my go to bronzer.

  16. stacey says:

How does the amount of product in the old package vs the new package compare?

    • Denise says:

      It’s the same amount! 🙂
I prefer the newer style packaging… the old style was looking a little dated to me.

  17. Ashleigh says:

I’m not sure we want bulkier cosmetics packaging- I’m sure everyone here can agree that we’re crunched for space as it is! If something is unnecessarily large I’m actually less inclined to buy it.

  18. Livia says:

I think I like the old packaging better but if the amount of product and prices are the same I don’t mind. Also I’m happy I’ll get to try that cheeky bronze! x

  19. Nik says:

I want to point out the new price too. $32 – dag!

  20. Rachel P says:

Is it Golden Glow or Global Glow in the pictures? I only ask because I’ve been interested in Global Glow for some time, and don’t see a Golden Glow on the website. I haven’t owned an MSF before so I can’t speak to the packaging!

  21. I kinda like the new packaging.. 🙂 🙂

Personally…I think it looks awful lol. The new version looks incredibly tacky and like something from the drugstore.

  23. Sylirael says:

I have never bought a Skinfinish (although I know what the packaging looks like), so I’m not really attached to one packaging style or the other…I’m not sure they made a drastic enough change to bother me!

  24. Astrild says:

It looks pretty and modern, but bulkier than the old one. I don’t like the change.

  25. Natalia says:

Hi, Karen! Thanks for the great job keeping us informed! 🙂

I actually like the new packaging, it is more modern and fresh if I may say so. Also rrrreally glad that MSFN (if it is true) will be in a compact with a mirror. It’s a compact finishing powder after all, isn’t it, so what am supposed to pull out of my bag, a powder with a clear lid? No, I want a nice compact, which has a mirror and nice lid 🙂 Although, since I bought MSFN not long ago, I will be stuck with it for quite a while and it will be in my draw, not my bag, because of the packaging.

  26. Bee says:

Not really digging it but it does look sturdy. My current ones will last me this lifetime so I think I’ll pass 😀

I’m just excited the Global Glow and Cheeky Bronze are back!!! I loved Cheeky Bronze and I’ve wanted Global Glow for ages. I prefer the old packaging but I’m glad they included a mirror in the new packaging. I wonder if they will change the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural to this new packaging?

I think people just need to get use to the new packaging. In a few months it will be old news. As long as the product still works I’m cool with change no big deal for me..

  31. Katie says:

I do not care for it!

  32. Carrie says:

I don’t mind the new packaging. I think it looks kind of cool. It reminds me of a spaceship :). I’m just excited to get Global Glow. I’m lucky enough to already have Cheeky Bronze. Plus, the clear part of the lid tends to pop out on the regular packaging, so hopefully that won’t happen with these.

  33. nouf says:

didn’t like the new packaging :/

  34. Angela says:

Hi there, Lady! Is cheeky bronze a pink bronze color?

  35. Summer says:

The old packaging was sleek, modern and easy to carry.
The new packaging is bulky and super duper ugly.

  36. Anna says:

I miss the old packaging, this new packaging is horrible. I carried my brand new mineral powder in my purse to work yesterday and the powder broke. I hope they bring back the old packaging it was so much better.

  37. Alicia O'Connor says:

I honestly thought I was the only person on earth that thinks that the new packaging is very ugly, cheap, and tacky. If I am paying good money for something i dont want it to look like it came from target. I mean reguardless I still love the mineralize skinfinishes its my favorite product from mac. I was expecting every else to be like “oh it’s so sleek looking!” Mac why did you do this? BRING BACK THE OLD PACKAGING!

  38. W. says:

I want the old packaging so I cant switch out compacts. I was hoping to switch the MSFN to the Alluring Aquatic compact, but I don’t think you can do this with the new version. Anyway to make Mac go back to the old or find a new way to make it work?

    I hate the new packaging.
And I’m a sucker for packaging so I can
actually see this steering me away from
MAC– which is sad because I purchase from them
more than any other high end brand!

  40. Kat says:

I second the fake-looking comment. I saw these new compacts and MSFNs first in-store before online, and fake MACz definitely came to mind; the MSF bronzers look particularly cheap. I appreciate the new magnetic closure and the inclusion of the mirror, but overall, aesthetically, I can’t really care for the new packaging.

  41. Lauren says:

    I honestly hate it!!
Picked up one of the new shades (Medium golden) recently and I’m pretty sure, that although I love the product, it was my last MFSN (or MAC) purchase. We don’t have a CCO in Austria, what I’m very sad about, so I’ll have to find a new ‘all time favorite’ now. Or depot the powder into an old packiging, what doesn’t make a lot of sense to me. So, adièu, my love…

  42. Mona says:

Wow, you guys got the new packaging LAST year, we got it this week – seriously! 😀
BTW, I don`t mind the new look itself, BUT as someone with rheumatism I actually find it super difficult to open the new packaging! Some sort of ridges or an sharper edge or even a button would help me tremendously to get the darn thing opened, lol 😛
PS! I find all your swatches and images of MAC SO helpfull, they are so clear and accurate to the real deal! (having to purchase over internet as we don`t have MAC shops here I live. I am depending on online swatches, so your site is my #1!)

  43. Fia says:

Can you depot the new packaging??! Don’t want to risk it if it ruins my MSF. Help??!
