Yesterday I spent about an hour at a Nordstrom store here on Oahu getting familiar with MAC’s new Style Warriors collection. It goes on sale in stores nationwide in a few days (May 21), but Nordies is taking pre-orders right now and has the products available for display on counter (if they’re not out, you may have to ask).

If you can’t wait, MAC has the products, at least most of them, for sale online, but they haven’t turned on their Style Warriors collection page yet, so you’ll have to dig around through their product sections like those for Eyes and Lips to find ‘em.

The overall MAC Style Warriors color palette

I’m still on the fence about the collection, but I definitely like the packaging a lot. The overall color palett isn’t e, though, as warm as I thought it would be, and where am I going to wear yellow lipgloss and eyeshadow, LOL? I get the feeling they may be more arty than wearable.

What do ya think about Style Warriors so far?

Absolutely gorgeous! Thanks for sharing these pics, I’m definitely getting Impassioned, On a Mission and the gold + peach lipglasses.

Hey Karen! I would love to hear your review and see lip swatches of the lippies cuz whatever looks good on you works great on me (our skin tone/lip tone is the same). Hope you’re having fun in Hawaii!!

I’m glad they brought Bronzescape back, although solar bits were not as popular due to the chunky texture. The package designs are hot but like you, I’m also on the fence. I hope they’ll release a bronzier and warmer collection for some of us who wishes for it :)

I’m right there with you on the color palette, Karen! I picked up the yellow shadow because I can’t resist a pretty color, and I’ve spent about four days now trying to find a way to wear it without looking like a flaming idiot…

haha Karen, its funny you say that “where am I going to wear yellow lipgloss and eyeshadow, LOL?” cus I preordered a couple of the items at nordstrom.. and i actually ordered the Yellow eyeshadow and lipgloss! The colors are a little bit daring but the Liberated gloss isnt as yellow as it shows in the bottle. I would probably put it on top of a nude or light pink gloss/lipstick to add a touch of gold on it!
and the eyeshadow is super fun!!!
maybe the purple and gold/yellow is more appealing to me because i ammm a lakers fan! :P haha

I definitely think there are going to be ways to make this collection wearable. The yellow lipglass, Liberated,is similar to Goldyrocks dazzleglass. This over brave new bronze lippie gives a nice nude lip. Yellow gloss in general can warm up any other lippies you may already own. You can do a daytime look with Soft Force & Bright Future e/s since Bright Future has a frosty sheen to it that makes it more wearable then let’s say, Chrome Yellow.

You can definitely mix n’ match this collection so it suits your style & preferences. You can go for classy fierce or ferocious fierce. I look forward to seeing the variety of Style Warrior looks people start posting. I guess it will be a love it or hate it type thing. Me, personally, am looking to get Soft Force, Vibrant Grape & Bright Future e/s along with Brave New Bronze & Purple Rite l/s. Will prob skip the lipglasses as I am anxiously awaiting the new dazzleglasses coming out in the Euristocrats collection come July.

Thanks for the swatches Karen!!!! :)

Some of the lipsticks are pretty but I don’t care for any of the shadows. I think for me the draw is the packaging more than anything, so it wouldn’t really be worth it for me to buy any part of this collection. How do you feel about the solar bits? I bought some last summer as part of another collection (don’t remember which, and I don’t think they were called solar bits at the time) and I find them incredibly hard to blend. Unless they’ve change the formula since last year, I don’t find this to be a very functional product at all (much like their metallx shadows from last year). As with the Rose collection, I’m unimpressed.

Karen, I actually think Brave New Bronze & Purple Rite would look gorgeous on you. Did you or are you planning to get either? Nude colors look so nice on your skin tone & Purple Rite is not sooo purple so it seems to be more wearable & would look good on you as well.

  11. 11. Kypris said, on May 17th, 2009:

I’m not sure about the solar bits or the eyeshadows, but the glosses and lipsticks I like… and perhaps the yellow/gold eyeshadow (you said you wouldn’t wear it… but it can be an intriguing accent!), but I think if I go for yellow eyeshadow, I’d like it to be more vibrant.

  12. 12. Stacie said, on May 17th, 2009:

Hmm…yellow eyeshadow. Could be interesting! I would have to play with it for a bit. Like someone else said, maybe as an accent…

  13. 13. Glosslizard said, on May 17th, 2009:

I’m kinda attracted by Brave New Bronze and Purple Rite, I’ll probably check out the lippies on Thursday!

    Yummy packaging!

  14. 14. Fia said, on May 17th, 2009:

The more I think about it… I (like to think) feel that this collection was inspired was our own Golden State Warriors lol… because Warriors and the color of Yellow and Purple… ahahahha, which might explain why I’m tempted to get the yellow eyeshadow for that reason

  15. 15. Stephie said, on May 17th, 2009:

I agree. I quite like packaging though I am more of a zebra print than leopard print kind of girl :P I think the Brave New Bronze lipstick looks promising. Funny name though. I hope your trip is going wonderfully well Karen !

    Hey Karen!
Hope you are having a good time! I actually went for the Style Warriors unveiling party that MAC stores had last week (May 12). It was good, kinda crazy though with tons of people! It almost felt like going to a club, they had shut off the store to customers, there was a line and it was all by appointment only, you had to RSVP ahead of time. They even had cocktails (quite strong ones that too ;) ) and hors d’oeuvres. I ended up getting the Eversun beauty powder blush, very pretty :)
    Talk to you soon… :)

  18. 18. Karen said, on May 17th, 2009:

    Hi Merylynmagic,

Sounds like the party was fun. :) Eversun is a fabulous blush — you’ll be able to wear it with everything.

    Hi Kajal Couture,

Hope you had fun at the release party. Did you end up picking anything up?

  20. 20. Karen said, on May 17th, 2009:

    Hi Stephie,

I heart all sorts of fun animal prints. Funny you should mention zebra print– a few years ago Bebe did a cute faux zebra coat that I am still kicking myself for not buying. It was adorable!

Oh yah, that’s right! Are you a hard core warriors fan?

    Hi Kypris,

I got Solar Bits from last year’s Solar Field collection. I never quite figured ‘em out, but some people love them.

    Hi Nicole15,

I might… when I get back from vacay and can spend some good time really playing with the collection we’ll see. Are you going to get them?

  27. 27. Shivotra said, on May 17th, 2009:

I may get only one thing from this collection because I love the packaging. Colours not so much.

  28. 28. Elle said, on May 17th, 2009:

the colors are gorgeous! really really pretty, especially the lipsticks <3

  29. 29. Stacie said, on May 17th, 2009:

    Hi Karen,

How in the world do you apply those chunky looking eyeshadows (Solar Bits in Scatterrays)? They look pretty messy.

  30. 30. Ellery said, on May 17th, 2009:

Oh… my… GOD. The packaging is soooo cute. I really need liberated lipglass, but nothing else really interests me. I’m more interested in the honey collection that’s coming up but I forgot the name of it.

  31. 31. wendy said, on May 18th, 2009:

I love this collections, I already have acouple of items from other collections (Neo Sci Fi) but I already made a WANTED list :-)

  32. 32. Anna said, on May 18th, 2009:

    Hi Karen,

I see what you mean by the colours being slightly unwearable…. I thought it would be more warm too. I’m surprised the solar bits making a come back, I didnt think they were popular the first time round with Neo Sci Fi. The fall out is horrendous.

Hope you had a lovely weekend !

  33. 33. Jian said, on May 18th, 2009:

The nail polishes look pretty in the bottles! Unfortunately I really don’t like MAC polishes…I find they take smell a lot stonger than their Dior and Chanel counterparts. And last time, the colour applied STREAKY! (MAC Neon…from the Neon collection last year?) Any tips on how to make streaky nail polish NOT be streaky? Sounds silly..But hopefully you know? Haha..

i am i L O V E with the packaging on this but i agree it looks like a more artsy collection rather than functional one

i might have to sneak in a lipglass in though just for the packaging design

  35. 35. Nicole15 said, on May 18th, 2009:

    Karen,

Yeah, my goals are to get brave new bronze & purple rite. Brave New Bronze just seems like it’s really going to be a nice go-to nude color to own (I hope!). I want to get Purple Rite because I’ve always wanted a purple lippie & i am not someone who can pull of a color like Lavendar Whip so Purple Rite is just the right tone of purple for me. Mixed with a little pink, not too vibrant & can be tweaked easily with gloss. I hope both these lippies turn out to be what I’ve created in my head. LOL! :)

  36. 36. Bj said, on May 18th, 2009:

Ive gotta have brave new bronze lipstick, and im actually considering liberated lipglass, I think i could make it work. I wanna try the leg bronzers for sure!

Violet Fire and Mercenary polishes are pretty hot.

  38. 38. Winnie said, on May 18th, 2009:

Hi Karen, I think with your skintone, the colors would look wonderful. I was an NC35 before i started using sunscreen everyday. Yellow and could be used as a nice pop of color. I would use both the yellow and purple (seperately) as accent colors. Please consider it. You might fall in love!

  39. 39. Kim said, on May 18th, 2009:

I must say that I love the packaging. My local Mac rep called me in cause they got it in early at the store but only received a few pieces and since I spend my entire check in the Mac store (lol after I pay my bills and take care of the kids) she figured I should get first dibs. I got all of the solar bits, the fierce and fabulous lip glass, and the violet and mercenary nail polishes. The lip glass is just wonderful and I love the solar bits really show up on my skin tone. I also got the yellow eyeshadow just because it was pretty. However, being from the Caribbean I am positive that I will be using that yellow sooner or later.

I am going back this week to get the blushes I think I will love them as well.

I am loving the blushes and the eyeshadows! I think I must go the extra mile and spend my money when they come out! XD

That purple polish is hot but I’ve never tried a MAC polish. I also curious to see the lustre drops. This pale girl needs some color!
