mac hello kitty something about pink nail polish giveaway

Why another MAC Hello Kitty giveaway? Answer: because it’s Tuesday!!!

And because this color has been selling out fast. Yes, decorate those kitty claws with MAC Something About Pink Nail Lacquer ($11 value).

How to enter…

There are two different ways to enter, and you can do both for two chances to win. The first involves leaving a comment here on this post — a comment about anything at all. Tell me about your first car (mine was a red Honda Civic… gawd I loved that car), your first kiss, or the first time you wore makeup. The second involves signing up for my updates by email, if you haven’t already subscribed. You’ll get one email per day, teeming with makeup and beauty videos, tutorials and complete nonsense about my cat.

Recap…

  1. If you haven’t already signed up to receive Makeup and Beauty Blog daily email updates, then enter your email in the box below (or click this link).
  2. You may also enter by leaving a comment in the comments section at the bottom of this post (be sure to use a valid email address).

I’ll pick the winner at random from among the people who enter by 11:59PM PST Tuesday night (tonight).

Good luck!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Keep your eyes peeled for the new MAC Hello Kitty Kouture sub-collection of Swarovski crystal-bejeweled limited edition MAC Hello Kitty products. I’ll have more details about ’em soon, but they’re slated to arrive later this week! 🙂

I was first allowed to wear makeup very sparingly when I turned 15. My very glamorous Filipina mother was quite strict about what was age appropriate, so on my 15th birthday she took me to the Clinique counter and we picked out a mascara, and to the Origins counter for their Pinch Your Cheeks gel blush. I was thrilled!

i need desperately need a pink polish! hmmm…the first time i seriously wore makeup was probably in 7th grade. For about 3 years, my staple makeup item was black pencil eyeliner from Wet’n Wild for 99 cents haha. I always said that as long as I had black eyeliner I would be good to go..beauty wise. I don’t think I discovered the joys of mascara until high school though…

that pink is so pretty…drool…when i was younger 11, 12 or so i danced-in a competitive line-tap, jazz etc, and our makeup would have to somewhat compliment our costumes, ORANGE lips to match our orange, black white costumes…i was scarred for a long time from any kind of lipstick, but the worst was having to wear wigs!! imagine if you will, a young girl of 13 or so, this was in the early 80’s mind you, big bushy black eyebrows with….a platinum blond jayne mansfield wig!!! oh the horror….:)

    Hi Karen!

I’ll tell you about my first car. My very first car was a Chevy Blazer. It was all black with black leather inside, I loved that car. I named it Betsy the Blazer. (I’m silly like that, my current car is Cammie the Camry lol) But anyway, I learned to drive in Betsy and it was great, there was nothing like being high up on the road and seeing everything. I first learned to drive when I was 18, a little later than most, but my parents were so preoccupied that noone got to teach me and I didnt get my permit. I actually got my permit and license within two weeks of each other after my 18th birthday.

So a few months after that my parents went to the city for the day and I though I would just take the car out to the bookstore and spend the day reading. It was so nice to just be able to go out without having to ask for a ride.

So I’m riding over to Barnes and Noble, a route I’d taken before when I get to this 4 way stop. I stop as customary and when its my turn, I go and turn left. But there is a hill for oncoming traffic and I guess the lady didn’t see me. She comes flying up the hill and BAM. I saw it coming but I couldn’t stop it, I just closed my eyes. Thank god I wasn’t hurt, I was so surprised, but the car was totaled. The crash shook the engine and it would have been so much to repair.

I was so upset, I called my parents but they were all the way downtown so I had to call some friends of mine to drop me off home. I just went home and went to sleep, my parents wanted to rush me to the doctors, but I was fine so I refused.

So thats my story, I still wish I had that car to this very day. Thanks for listening!

Ok. So I technically don’t really have my own car, and I don’t remember the first time I wore makeup other than when I still had a bowl cut and smeared my mom’s red lipstick all over my face 😛 [doesn’t every girl have one of these pictures?]

But my first kiss. So silly. My boyfriend was walking me to class and when we were first together we were very low key, didn’t tell any of our friends so we waited until very late during passing period to walk together. He’d be almost late but whatever.. haha. So idk what we were talking about but I said ‘you don’t have the balls to kiss me first’ then right before we parted ways he smacked one right on me. Practically hit me in the face w/ his face. So instead of having that gushy first kiss reaction I was like wtf?? Haha. I tease him about that all the time 😛

    Woo for pink nailpolish!!

My first kiss was an awkward encounter in junior high. The boy who kissed me grabbed me on my way to fourth period and planted one on my lips. It was unexpected, underwhelming, and I didn’t kiss anyone again until I got to high school.

My first car was a 1987 burgundy Volvo. My dad had acquired the car from a junkyard because he loved Volvos. When I turned 16, he told me that when I got my license the car would be mine. I was absolutely mortified. There was no way I was going to pull into my high school parking lot driving that old thing! However, once I got my license I realized that if I really wanted to go places on my own, I would have to drive that car. Not kidding, once I started driving it, I became a local celebrity. Kids from my high school loved it, thought it was the coolest thing, and even older guys would check me out when I drove past. I learned to love my trusty old Volvo. I’ve moved on to better cars since then, but I do miss that car a lot.

That’s all I wore for about 2-3 years until I finally added some eyeshadow and lip stuff into the mix 🙂 When I look back on those pics I laugh because you could barely see my eyes I had to much black crap on them, LOL!

My first car was a 15+ year old Volvo sedan. The front seat was broken (the seat part, not the safety of it, or I hope so anyways) so i had to sit on a pillow in order to see out the front window. The radio was also broken, so I kept a boom box on the back seat. Went through a lot of D batteries with that car.

I remember the first time I wanted my own makeup. I was 7 years old and had begged my Mom to buy me a kiddie blush that I had fallen in love with. When she got it for me, I thought that it would make me special… Little did I know that I had two huge circles of peachy-pink shimmery/glittery blush on…. I must have glittered on every one I saw that day.

my first full on make up experience was when i was a freshman in high school. the fambam and i took a trip to china and did a photo shoot. i was darker then too, because i swam, and i remember taking a cotton pad to my face and wiping off the foundation to expose my darker skin. it was funny how they tried to make me lighter than i really am. i felt pretty disgusted at the amt of makeup they had on me, but now that i know more about it, it was probably the right amt… just the wrong color.

The first time I wore makeup was 5th grade. I jacked dark purple eyeshadow from my mom and applied it sans mirror, in the car and rushed out before she could see me. This continued for 2 weeks before she finally discovered my purple eyes. I also applied about 10 coats of dollar store mascara along with my ridiculous eyeshadow. It was terrible.

We wore silver mascara, face glitter, too-dark red lipstick, etc. It probably looked awful! LOL. Wish I had pictures of that! At the time, we thought we were stylin though 😉

    Thanks!!

first time I wore makeup…I was about in 3rd grade and i snuck into my moms makeup and put on some bright pink eye shadow all over my eyes. I thought I looked really good to. I remember my mom asking me if I had makeup on and I said no sure don’t and she laughed and said I looked like I had pink eye then. She knew what I had done lol.

One of my first memories of makeup/beauty was wearing an orange/brown shade of lipstick and my mom’s Obsession perfume! (both of which were awful for me!!) My first car was a maroon Honda Accord with the “Barbie-like” flash up lights. It got totaled when I was 20.

Back then I was so negative about make-up and gave hard time (shamelessly!!) to my friends who wore lots of it for the night. During college I became the most make-up addict among my friends from high school. It is still a fun memory and they sure did not quit reminding it to me 🙂

Well when i was 10 years old and lived in mexico, i have an uncle that teaches at the highschool over there. The school has a program that teaches kids how cows produce milk and teach them how to milk them, since this little town in mexico is mostly farmes it’s pretty interesting what they teach them about the milk and making of the cheese which is what my uncle does. well anyway he always used to take my cousins and me to play cause they had this volleyball net and we would play there all the time of course they lowered the net and it was so much fun. we got tired of playing volleyball and decided to play tag around the volleyball court, my cousin was it and i was running away from him looking back so he wouldn’t catch me, in the process of running i turn and look foward runnin and BAM!!!!!!!!!! i hit the volleyball pole and fell to the grown drenched in blood and cryin. (i hit my eye with the little hole you tie the net with the one that sticks out) i get rushed to the doctor and there sittin on my moms lap crying the doctor told her that he didn’t want to give me stiches cause i was a girl and it would look bad when i got older so he just took care out it and it healed nicely. to this day i have my scar but that memory will always be with me. you can see pictures of my present pictures and you can see my scar on my right eye it really not noticeble but you can still see where i have no hair……lol check it out at>>>>>>>>>

The first time I ever wore makeup was in seventh grade – when I was 11. I got my first little bit of covergirl…and yes I was young, but i skipped third grade…so I guess I was a little ahead in order to keep up with my peers. It was not good though because I had such skin issues. I would actually get eczema along my jaw line etc. By 13, my mom had taken me to a dermatologist and my affair with Clinique stemmed from that.

Also, what kind of makeup are you wearing today since it’s so rainy out? I’m never sure about what kind of foundation to go with… you know, liquid or powder. So I usually end up with a tinted moisturizer and a light dusting of mineral powder.

ohoh i’d really love to win this! im on a nobuy so this would be an awesome pick me up! anyway the first time i wore makeup when i was a high school kid at around 15 or 16. i started off with lipglosses, and i would save up all my pocket money for about a few weeks, and buy one lipgloss at the end of that week. all i bought were what was readily available at the drugstores. i didnt know a thing about choosing colors then, so i just picked whatever struck my fancy, and ended up with all sorts of colors i cringe to recall now – copper, bright hot pink thats a cross between fuschia and orange, deep deep winey plummy colors, LOL. they werent bad, but just clashed badly with my skintone. and i wore NO OTHER MAKEUP. so i was so happy wearing my fuschia gloss around an otherwise unmade face! i must have looked hilarious, but just having the glosses made me so happy. by the time i went to college, i had a small box full of lipglosses that i accumulated by just saving up and buying one every few weeks! now of course im still pretty much a gloss girl, but well, that was my not-so-short story on how i started wearing makeup. its pretty funny!

    Hi Karen,
I just wanted to tell you I loved your post on the MAC eye shadows for work a few days ago. I do not own any MAC products but I have been wanting to try the MAC brand. I am getting on the MAC train ….finally! lol I am a member over at makeupalley.com and it seems everyone is addicted to MAC! There are just so many products in the line that it is overwhelming (I think that is why I have been hesitant to try) I thought that post was a great way for me to get to know the brand. I am planning to go to the MAC counter this weekend and good woodwinked and shroom as my first two MAC shadows, I think this might start an addiction!!! Anyhoo, hopefully I can leave without spending too much $$ because I know the hello kitty collection is going to be really tempting! Keep up the good posts, videos, and giveaways! By the way I loved your interview with the glamour blog, you looked great in the photo!

    Hi Karen,

the first time i wore makeup was when i was 5 years old. it was about my 3rd or 4th week into kindergarten. i decided i wanted to look pretty like my momma to class so i borrowed her lancome blood red lipstick and threw it into my backpack. once i got to school i took out the lipstick and put it onto my lips. i went the whole day like that and when my momma picked me up from school later that morning. boy oh boy was she p.o. i remember her giving me a letcure about how i didn’t need to wear make up to look pretty for the little boys in class and how i shouldn’t even like boys because they have cooties. after she was done yelling at me, i told her i wore it bc i wanted to look pretty just like her to school. she gave me a kiss and a hug and let me keep the lipstick but told me i can only put it on at home.

Haha, my first time I put on makeup I felt out of my comfort zone. I was in 5th grade and a bunch of my friends were putting it on and I wanted to cry because it felt like I was growing up too soon.

So that’s my sob-story, I’m excited for this contest!

Oh i love the design of your “win mac hello kitty” banner! did you do it yourself using photoshop? eek. i’m really into all sorts of design. using the computer. and naturally, makeup. anything pretty =)

when i was young i was obsessed with using photoshop. i used to have my own fansite and stuff where i would do all the graphics. and now, i just started obsessing with MAKEUP! i’ve been sourcing around for eyeshadow colours that i like. basically i’m starting with neutrals first. when i’m more daring and used to the application then perhaps i’ll reach for brighter colours.

and reading your blog has really been helpful! from the reviews of what i should buy to the techniques of how to apply. keep up the good work Karen! =)

My first car (that I only got 8 months ago from my dad) is a silver acura 3,2tl. I love it, probably just because it’s mine =]

I’ve been wearing makeup since I was reallllly little because of dance recitals, but I remember vividly the first time I put on my OWN makeup. haha I was at my aunt’s house with my cousin (who’s 16 years older than me), and we were playing dress up in funky 90’s prom dresses. I put on bright pink blush, bright pink lipstick, and light blue eyeshadow. surprisingly, for a sever year old, I managed to put on mascara perfectly =] lol it was a proud day!

    I’d LOVE to win!
I am already an email reader.

Random story time: I am a music teacher to young elementary school-aged children in an urban public school. Not all of these children have positive home environments, and one child that I have especially been struggling with finally came out of his shell today! Often times he would emotionally pull away during class and refuse to talk to me, but today he came up to me and in a quiet, soft-spoken voice said, “Miss Erica, Miss Erica! I’ve been practicing this week I want to play you a song!”

He then proceeded to perfectly play an excerpt from Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, which I had said the week earlier was one of my favorites. I was touched & so proud all at once! I am a young college student so it’s not like I have children of my own, so this truly made me melt a little bit! It made my day & I’m glad I got this random opportunity to share =)

Btw I’d love to win! Thanks for providing these giveaways!

So, my random comment is that I finally got my wireless router working in the new apartment. Hurray for internet!

And, my first car was a stupid old Ford Taurus – I hated that thing. My first car that I bought myself was a used Saab 9-3. It’s been 6 good years, but it’s time to replace him.

pink nail polish, good stuff! right now i’m sporting essie’s no boundaries (reminds me of a magenta like barbie creme pink) on the toes, and carolyn new york’s handball courts on the tips.

first (real) makeup – i don’t remember… but childhood memories of neighbour’s kid putting a full face on me with purple lipstick and me getting into alot of trouble after when i went home. mom’s gwps from EL and Shiseido are most likely. my first real purchase was stila double ended lip glazes with a doe foot. i used those babies up!

The first time I bought department store makeup I was in middle school with my aunt. The lady at the counter sold me foundation the wrong color and a dark browny-red eyeshadow, telling me that I’d grow to like the color. She was pretty clueless.

My parents didn’t want the girls wearing makeup until we were 16 so per my older sister’s advise I would take makeup to school and put it on in the bathroom then wipe it off at the end of the school day. It wasn’t a lot of makeup, a bit of pastel eye shadow and a light frosty pink lipstick, but it was enough for me to think I was getting away with something.
