MAC Me Over Collection Lipstick Swatches Starring My Secret Lover (That’s What You Are)

August 9th, 2011 by Karen 44 Comments

mac me over lipstick swatches

Kiss me, you impetuous fool! But wait — let me apply my lipstick first. 🙂

Just some quick swatches of a few of the lipsticks from the upcoming MAC Me Over collection on NC42 lips/skin (arriving on North American counters Aug. 25; internationally this September).

I left Tabs with specific instructions to swatch and post anything MAC-related while I was gone, but because he’s a cat, he never listens to a word I say.

You know how it goes…

I was surprised by Secret Lover because it’s much more wearable than I thought, but Prince Noir? — something tells me that guy’s gonna be tough to wear.

Love that prince noir lipstick…..probably too dark for NW10 skin? I still want it though!

“I left Tabs with specific instructions” Well there’s your problem. YOU (a mere puny human?) instruct one of our ever-tolerant and fuzzy masters? DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH.

I was hoping to be more excited about these lippies but none of them call out to me. Granted, I’m just starting and I think they’re all too…alternative bold? ie: Not bold in a red or orange lip kind of way but in a so so nude or so so dark way.

I think prince noir looks pretty good on you but might before suitable for someone with a lighter skin tone. Imagine it with the shiny hair, powdered face and pencil liner of the 30s &40s along with cardigans, suiting and wool coats of fall/winter.

I LOVE Rebel. All lipsticks look nice on you actually, just very unusual to see you with such shade as Prince Noir 🙂 But I love such shades actually, wore a similar one for my Birthday this year.

My favorite is Rebel. Prince Noir is way too dark for my skin tone, while Peachstock and Secret Lover are too pale. Looking forward to find them in any MAC store in Indonesia. Thanks for the info, Karen!

I kind if want to try Rebel l/s. Whenever I swatched it in the store I always thought it sort of looked too fuchsia on me, but I think I was so hung up on deep reds I was prejudiced. 🙂

Loving Prince Noir & Rebel! I’m still getting Prince Noir even though it kind of reminds me of Dark Side a bit. I was hoping for PN to be a little more blueish wine color. Karen, do you find the matte finish of Prince Noir to be creamier than previous matte lipsticks? Tx.

PN looks a lot like Besame’s Noir.
Rebel is a permanent color. You don’t have to wait for this collection to release to swatch/buy it.

IMO, I think a tad bit of black or charcoal eyeliner with the Prince Noir would make it a more transitional for me. It makes your eyes look naked being so bold. Not a huge amount just a smidge to define.

Rebel looks really good on you but I think it would be a little too red for me (isn’t everything?). 🙂 I think I’d also scare the dead with Prince Noir but you’re wearing it well! I noticed the progression of Lloyd in your pics: pretty straight; a slight ruffle; OK, Lloyd, all to the side. Very versatile!

Hmmm. I can’t decide if I want Prince Noir. It’s lovely but I’m afraid it’ll end up in my “going out lips” pile, which doesn’t get used enough. How is the dryness compared to other MAC mattes?

Ooooo Prince Noir reminds me of the late 90’s when I wore really dark brownish red lipstick. No lip liner though! :0) Come to think of it I wore a really cool dark grayish mauve lipstick in the 80’s too. Cant think of the name of it, but I think it was Revlon and it was kinda like MAC Riveting lipstick only darker.

Not a fan of the Prince Noir on you — it’s too overpowering and you have natural beauty that doesn’t need all that dark color. I do love the other 3 on you though they’re very pretty

A perfect dupe for Prince Noir would be Dark Cherry by Revlon!
I really like Secret Lover & Peachstock. They’re both really pretty nude-y colors.
