The MAC Future MAC Collection: A Closer Look at the Mineralize Rich Lipsticks and Glasses

Hi everyone!

I’m still unpacking from our recent move (I know…I’m ON IT), and I’ve had limited access to my art supplies and even internet. But I am reading and enjoying all of your wonderful comments, and I can’t wait to get back in the illustration groove soon!

In the meantime, I thought I’d give a closer look at the new lip products in the Future MAC collection (which is available now).

As far as MAC Mineralize Lipsticks go, these are sheer-medium and verrrry hydrating. I prefer comfort over super long-wear formulas on most days, but I’m not sure about some of these shades. The lighter shades, in particular, look…interesting.

Milk mustaches come to mind, actually.

The sheerness, coupled with the lightness, of Supernova doesn’t work for me, but I think the effect works better with the middle shades, like Cybernaut and Metafabulous.

And Cybernaut only works because I’m stubbornly “in like” with it, LOL! I’ve been interested in cooler shades because of the nice contrast with my warm skin.

Metafabulous has a warm peachy tone that blends nicely into my lips and skin. I like the subtle nude effect. It’s an easy everyday pick.

Speaking of nice nudes, Touch the Earth is a great browny nude. It looks scarily brown and grey in the tube, but I’ve been able to wear it day and night without concern.

Finally, the deepest shade, Ionized, is another gorgeous color, but I think it could be improved with a little more pigment. In my face swatch above, the center of my lips show through a little more than I would like.

So…there’s a very subtle difference between each of the Mineralize Lipglasses. They’re all essentially clear with different multicolored glitters, and these were the best shots I could get, honestly!

Interspatial (pretty purple glitter!) and The Zone (browny gold) have the strongest discernible difference, but even that is a stretch. I think you’d be set no matter which shade you picked, so go for the one with the glitter you like the most!

I hope these photos help you decide which lippies to look out for the next time you stop by your MAC counter!

Thanks, guys, and see you in the next,

Anna

I like the way the natural lip shows through with Ionized. It’s a little “show your roots” and humanizes a kind of cyborg color. Otherwise, it would be super 90s metallic. This is a little different, messier aesthetic! I do LOVE the Touch the Earth shade. Looks great. Understated and elegant tone but obvious pigment. The glasses look kind of like a wash, literally and figuratively. Thanks for all the excellent pics.

Yup I agree with you there! I’ve seen some similar lipsticks with TOO MUCH pigment that just looked unflattering. Loooove Touch the Earth exactly the way it is also 🙂

I really wasn’t into this collection for the most part. The highlighting blushes were nice.

A lot of these seem like they just aren’t pigmented enough for me. Too bad because the colors look like they’d be gorgeous.

I wish MAC had been a little bolder with some of the items in this collection. I really like the concept of a futuristic collection for spring. I did order Iionized, and it arrived yesterday. It’s even prettier in person, I think, so I’m glad I got it.

I’m glad you like it Rachel! I think its formula is lightweight and easier to work with than a full-on matte MAC. But yeah overall the collection is muted in a way!

Ooooh! Touch the Earth is really gorgeous! The other shades are a bit dodgy, especially since they’re so sheer.

I like the idea of gray or pastel lipstick, but to be honest these shades just don’t play well with most people’s skintone. The Lipglasses being so sheer they’re much more wearable!

Touch the Earth looks much prettier than I would have thought after seeing it in the bullet.

You look young and fresh faced. I’m not much for makeup that looks like no makeup! Don’t get the point of why bother if it’s barely showing up? I only want barely seen makeup if I barely spent any money on it, lol.

I’m surprised, but I really like Ionized! Beautiful review as always. 🙂

Hmmm I am not a fan I’m afraid. You pull them all off of course, but I don’t think these are for me.
