I live for new seasonal makeup and beauty launches, and finding a new color or product to obsess over thrills me from the top of my Lloyd Christmas bangs to the bottom of my flat arches.
But there are downsides to obsessively stalking new releases, in particular limited edition ones, and one of them has to do with time. Once limited edition products end their time in the sun, very often, like star-crossed lovers, never the twain shall meet again.
On rare occasions, however, the pigment-loving powers-that-be grant a product cosmetic clemency, either choosing to release it again in a future collection, or by giving it a permanent seat at the counter. More often than not, though, when it comes to the limited edition products we love, we’re forced to stockpile, Hoarders-style, combing The Cosmetics Company Stores and eBay.
Wouldn’t it just be easier if every brand made their bestsellers permanent?
Take MAC Feline Eye Kohl, which I spent about 20 minutes frantically looking for this morning. It’s one of the smoothest, darkest, most pigmented black pencil liners I’ve ever worn, and one of my favorite liners of all time. Unfortunately, it’s also limited edition.
I would cut a b*tch if MAC made it permanent, fo’ real!
It pops up every so often in MAC collections, and when it does I try to pick up a spare or two (or three).
And while the beauty gods are at it, perhaps they could also do something about Chanel Jade Nail Polish…like make it permanent.
Every time I gaze at that gorgeous bottle of creamy green perfection, I kick myself for not buying a backup. On our last day together, I intend to pour a 40 on the sidewalk and shed a few tears.
Which limited edition makeup or beauty products would you like to see added to a line’s permanent collection?
