Win a $50 Sephora eGift card from Makeup and Beauty Blog
Might as well face it, I’m addicted to Pukka Love…

I’ve been drinking so much of this stuff lately! It’s a tea called Love by Pukka ($6.95) that I get from the Vitamin Shoppe, but I’m sure it’s carried at other places, too. Design ho that I am, I picked it up first because of the box, but the description of the flavors is what had me sold: “organic rose, chamomile and lavender flower to warm your heart.”

Aww and NOM!

Imbibing this beautiful beverage is supposed to soothe, relax, and make you feel more balanced — all things I constantly need, haha! — and I love the taste. It’s a sweet aromatic floral like the lavender flower hard candies I used to get from the Asian grocery store down the street when I was kid.

It’s herbal and caffeine-free, so I can drink as much as I want throughout the day without getting the shakes, and for variety I’ve been alternating it with Celestial Seasonings Sweet Coconut Chai.

A cup of tea can be a simple way to show yourself some love…

Yes, that was very cheesy, but so true. ๐Ÿ™‚

And now, ready or not, it’s giveaway time!

Tea is one of those drinks I’ve never gotten into. It smells nice enough, but I can’t deal with the herbal-y taste. I don’t typically like fragrances that are TOO too earthy either. I do like when tea is mixed with things like fruits and flowers in shampoo, though!

I HAVE attended high tea before! I was 12 years old & on a 10-day “educational” trip to London with my mom. Every day our hotel served high tea with scones and crumpets. Too bad this southern girl didn’t acquire a taste for any tea that isn’t ice cold until last year! The waiter caught on after the second day and would bring me hot chocolate instead. ๐Ÿ™‚

My mom took me to tea at the Plaza one day when I was off from school. I hadn’t read the Eloise books, but it was awesome. 25 years later, we still talk about it. More recently, I went to high tea at The Willard after the court hearing for my friend’s divorce. Was a great way to leave the past behind.

I’ve seen Pukka tea at TJ Maxx and HomeGoods lately and have been interested in trying it- glad to see it’s got a positive review. I drink tea constantly in the winter and have a giant tea chest with several drawers in my pantry, and it stays well-stocked with a good variety. My favorite brand lately is Yogi because of all the savory spices.

When I went to china this past summer, we passed a tea shop that sold something called “puer” tea. Apparently, the older this tea is, the better it gets and ours is supposedly 25 years old.

The taste is okay, nothing special to me however it IS housed in a fancy bottle.

Tea is for me the equivalent of coffee, it keeps me awake whenever I have to study late at night, it wakes me up in the morning, it stops me from eating at any moment and basically it makes me feel warm and comfy at any time of the day. My favorite is Earl Grey, with milk and sugar when I want it to be really sweet. Then it is green tea with a special thought for the wonderfull green/mint tea I had in Marrakech 2 years ago.

When I was little I would spend part of the year at a London hotel famous for it’s afternoon tea – I thought that it was entirely normal to eat sandwiches off of a little tower every day and have pots of strong Darjeeling on tap. Tea wise, I’ve been obsessing over English Breakfast Tea. We got a Keurig last summer, and Celestial Seasonings take on the blend knocked my socks off. I tried Twinings, but it was more bitter, and a weaker flavor…

I also dig Chai, although my first was Oregon’s I’m pretty content with any brand’s Chai. I did have to lay off drinking it much though – it was giving me the shakes (which was very saddening, as I looooved it…), so now it’s a very occasional treat. Perhaps I can consume it again now, though, as my coffee consumption has skyrocketed in the last few months.

Do you ever drink David’s Tea? Creme Brulle and Forever Nuts are my fave flavours! But I just love going in there and smelling all the teas and seeing them so perfectly color co-ordinated in their tins. Gives me shivers every time! I’m kinda nerdy like that. Haha.

My latest fave tea flavor is Lipton’s Green Tea Superfruit with Purple Acai and Blueberry. I’ve been searching for a good blueberry tea after sampling a cool version at Teavana over the summer. When I saw the box with 20 bags for under $2, I knew I just had to give it a try! Some fruity teas are cloying in aroma and taste, but this one is a great balance! I’m glad to have it to reach for this time of year instead of cookies every time I want something sweet!

What are your favorite kinds/flavors of tea?
    Ugh. I hate tea. ๐Ÿ™

Have you ever attended high tea before?
    Nope.

How would you summarize 2011 for you?
Well, given that my husband was unemployed for about half of the year, I’d say that it was mostly filled with anxiety and worry. We’re doing a lot better now though! (He has a new job.)

How do you feel about fragrances with tea notes?
Favorably. I hate the way tea tastes but I do like the smell.

Have you finished all of your holiday shopping?
Not quite; still have a couple items to pickup at the mall this week.

I love chai – made from actual tea, not that icky sickly sweet syrup based chai. I like using tea from an Indian grocery store (Taj Mahal, Red Label), and adding freshly crushed cardamom pods and freshly grated ginger. I love chai teas and Strawberry Misaki from Teavana, which I think is a white tea..? 2011 was alright for me. I’m proud of myself for phasing out watermarks on my blog. it was a huge hindrance to blogging and I don’t have much of an archive to show for it. I’m trying to break old habit by forcing myself to focus on what’s more important right now. blogging’s become much more stress free because of it, and I’ve actually gotten more determined to keep it up instead of just being mopey and wallowing in self-pity. here’s to another year of growth!

I drink mint tea all year round. No the kind they sell in stores because none of them get the taste right. There are also a quabillion flavors of mint. Plain mint only. Not spearmint, peppermint or even chocolate mint (great for dessert garni but not for tea). I grow my own in my yard and harvest all season long. Freeze it and have enough to last all winter. It’s amazing and great for your digestive system. I drink Morrocan style, which is a weaker black tea, sweet and infused with mint ( nana). I have turned so many people onto this and NO one has not loved it. I’m not quite sure how it would work out for a scent or part of. The mint smell is sweet and sharp at the same time but a lifetime of toothbrushing would have me associating it with dental care than parfum. If anyone could do it it would be ELdO, DSH and I coudn’t resist if Uncle Serge took a hand.

    KAREN!

So, my friends and I are playing secret santa. Gifts are supposed to be under $15.00. All I could think to get the guy I got was a red Christmas-themed thong from Vicky Secret! I hope he tries it on, if only for the laughs! I figure he can always have his girlfriend wear them in the end.

The tea looks DE-LI-CIOUS! Need! Imagine how good we’re doing our ourselves putting all those healthy flowers and herbs in our body! mmm

YOU WOULD MAKE THIS GIRL VERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY HAPPY IF SHE WON!!!!
