Saturday Surfing

Published in: Just For Fun

Heya, ladies. :) How’s your Saturday coming along?

I dragged myself out of bed kinda early this morning to putter around the house, and now I’m just getting ready to meet a friend for lunch (do you know Marisol?).

Can you catch some waves with me before you go?

Random bright spots

New in stores

I may not understand a word these girls are saying, but I still loooove this song…

Dear Chris Cornell, I forgive you for lining your lower lashline, but only because yer sexy and can sing. :)

Did anyone else want to be Lisa Lisa back in the day?

Whatever you’re up to today, I hope you’re having fun!

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

DC is INSANE right now — I’m sitting on my butt at home with my kitties because we have over two feet of snow! I’m going to get some work done now (and Tigger has rolled himself up into a little ball right next to me), but I’ve been watching Tivoed reruns of Law and Order with Aisha curled up to my tummy. I feel like I’m the only person over 20 who is excited about the snow: I needed an excuse to stay in and relax! I got 10 hours of sleep last night and it was amazing after a rough week. :D

    • Karen says:

Hey L, That sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday. I hope you get some good relaxation time in… are there brownies or some kind of sweet treat involved? They are a must for TV marathons with the kittehs. :)

  2. Instant Karma (formerly L) says:

Okay, also, I love that link on how to store kitties. I love them in the tupperware!

  3. Sarah says:

OMG! That’s BEG- Abracadabra….so u listen k-pop too? aww U should try TVXQ, they’re beyond awesome xD

and lol, yeah the how to store kitties is really cute and I wanna try the chocolate cakes yum ^^

  4. Tiffany says:

I so am gonna try to make that chocolate cake! YUM!

    • Karen says:

Let me know how it turns out! I want to know if you can really do it in FIVE MINUTES. :)

      How’s your weekend going?

      • Tiffany says:

I’ll let you know how it goes when I try it!!!

My weekend is SUPER lazy so far. Haven’t done a thing. How’s your weekend going?

        • Karen says:

Good! I got back from lunch, wrote a little, took the cat out for a walk (LOL!). Now I’m probably going to watch a few eps of Burn Notice and then make some pasta. I’m feeling super lazy… probably will just chill at home for the night. :)

          • Tiffany says:

sounds like you have been way more productive than me :)

          • Karen says:

Ha! Not really… Did you get your Nectar Shimmer brick yet?

          • Tiffany says:

Well you did some writing! And plan to make dinner! I ordered pizza, lol. Yes I did get it in, but haven’t used it yet. I think I’ll use it on Monday!

          • Karen says:

Pasta doesn’t really count… you just boil it and then throw in some red sauce, LOL! We were actually gonna order pizza but were both too lazy to go get it (so cold). What kind did you get? Now I’m craving pepperoni and olive…

          • Tiffany says:

:) I love making pasta because it’s so easy! So when we moved into our townhouse in Nov of 2007 I was devastated to realize that no one (papa johns, pizza hut, dominoes) delivers to us. And I live in the middle of a major city! But anyway, like last month I found a non-chain, more expensive but more delicious place that actually delivers to us! It’s been like a huge treat to be able to order delivery again, LOL. Anyway, I got a white pizza with ricotta, mozzarella, garlic, herbs, etc. and hubby got a calzone :)

It’s been so cold and rainy here – that’s why I never feel like doing anything on the weekends recently – I’d rather stay in my home!

          • Karen says:

That sounds FREAKING DELICIOUS! Urgh, now I’m gonna have to go get pizza tomorrow…

The rain makes me want to stay inside the cave, for sure. When it’s pouring the only time I’ll head out is if we’re desperate for groceries or toilet paper, ah ha ha!

  5. RE: Lisa Lisa

Oh My Gawd! Thank you sooooo much for taking me back!

I used to LOVE Lisa Lisa & The Cult Jam!

I just rocked out with my laptop!

    THANK YOU! :)

  6. Kypris says:

I absolutely love that Korean song/video – I don’t remember when I first watched it but I like to revisit it once in a while…

  7. CC says:

I heard about the song and makeup in that music video before, but didn’t have time to watch the whole video until now. I typically ignore KPop/JPop/Asian music, but this music video has me mesmerized! This could wipe out some of those US vids on MTV…

  8. CC says:

Me too! If only I could defeat my cowlick once and for all and get my sideswept bangs to lay the way I want them to! It’s a full-out battle in the mornings sometimes. Just when I think I’ve successfully blown my hair into submission, it pops right back up! :P Aargh.

    • Karen says:

Ha! I know your pain all too well. I fight an epic battle with the baby hairs at my hairline every day. They’ll lay flat and well behaved for, oh, all of five minutes! :)

How’s your weekend going? Doing anything fun?

      • CC says:

I finally have time to relax and unwind after 2 all-nighters this week. My body doesn’t know when to stay awake or fall asleep!!

So, until that gets sorted out, I’m watching an old movie, “Working Girl,” because I read a reference to it somewhere. Now THAT is some crazy hair! How’s your weekend? :)

        • Karen says:

LOL, I remember when that movie came out! Yes, that hair was BIG, and by 80s standards, it was fairly conservative!

I’m glad that you’re getting a little time to relax this weekend. Does this mean you’re out of the intense study zone for a while?

          • Connie Chung says:

Yes! Hallelujah to that! This week I plan on slumming it a bit and sleeping in until the last minute before I have to brave the cold. My skin cold use the rehab! lol

  9. lexi says:

OMG – I so wanted to be Lisa Lisa in the 5th grade! My jam was, “Can You Feel the Beat” and it’s still my favorite. Well it’s between that and “Head to Toe”

I digress….yes I totally stumbled upon that sweet MAC deal at Nordstrom today…I was bringing back my lip gelee, Resort Life when bam my MAC girls hooked me up while they entertained my daughter! I walked away with Girlie, Creme de Violet and Sumptous Olive…I did pretty good since I exchanged my gloss for one, paid for the other and got the third for free. SCORE!

Also I was able to snag OPI’s “Jade is the New Black” at Pure Beauty…yeah as Ice Cube once said…”I gotta say it was a good day!”

  10. Nobody should take any advice from Jersey Shore O_O ever.

  11. Hyzenthlay says:

Mmmmm, Chris Cornell . . . But my favorite song of his is Sunshower. My boyfriend loves it to, so the beginning part of it is his ringtone on my phone . . . I always wait a couple of extra beats to pick up, just so I can hear more Chris Cornell :)

    • Karen says:

Yeah! What I particularly love about the video above is how he looks like he’s staring into YOUR SOUL as he’s singing. Le sigh…

Sunshower is a good tune! You have great taste. :)

  12. Megan says:

I stocked up on 6 mac eye shadows cause you got to pick your own free one!!!!!!!!! Saved $20
I’m just disappointed that they didn’t have club :*( just have to depot them on my next day off!

    Thanks for the heads up!!

  13. Catherine says:

OMG. I LOVE Brown-Eyed Girls’ Abracadabra!! In fact, for my last haircut (’bout four months ago) I brought a still of Ga-in from the video to my stylist! (She’s the 2nd from the left at 3:31). :D

Hahah! I love Jersey Shore, I think it’s hilarious. They ARE interesting, no matter who blames them for ruining our youth and being bad influences. I watched SNL the other day, has anyone seen the Snooki impression on Weekend Update? It’s hilarious!

    FIST PUMP!

  16. diane says:

Hy, thanks so much for the Sephora link, I love that palette!

Anyway, I just remembered that when I was like 12, 13 I wanted to be Britney Spears :))) I guess she was the Lisa of my generation (I’m 22). Kind of lame, right ? :P

*SQUEAL* I LOVE GA-IN FROM BEG! I’ve even seen quite a few tutorials on soompi forums on it (which has a bunch of user tutorials there, though they’re mostly focused towards asians and our eye types.) I love korean pop in general, though.. If you need lyric subs, it’s really easy to find, just add subbed to the search result. Abracadabra’s pretty controversial though, in Korea.

You should try listening to Fire by 2ne1 and watch the video, I love their makeup in that :D Also.. Lies or Haru Haru (day by day) by Big Bang. Wedding Dress by Taeyang. And finally.. Sign by BEG, the same girls. I love Narsha’s makeup in this one :) (all these have videos.. if you want to find more, I have at least 100 songs on my iPod x) )

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUUfyVc0ERo

    ^Narsha’s the one with short hair, while Ga In has hair over one eye. LOVE IT;
