Piercings: Whatchu Got?

November 25th, 2016 by Karen 31 Comments

I only have my ears pierced...I'm basic like that
I only have my ears pierced… I’m basic like that.

Absolutely nothing interesting. All I have are pierced ears, and I didn’t really have a say in that. My mom got them pierced when I was just a little baby in the hospital (it’s a cultural thing for Filipinos). I think I must have been a day or two old.

I plan to get Connor Claire’s ears pierced one of these days when El Hub isn’t looking, because he says that he just wants to preserve her babyhood forever (like, until she’s in her 30s, haha), but he probably won’t even notice for a few weeks afterward.

Dudes…

The only other thing I ever wanted to get pierced myself was my nose. I went through a phase circa 1993 when I wanted a nose ring, but it didn’t last long.

That’s all I can think of right now. I didn’t go through a pierced belly button phase because, I don’t know…I never really had a tummy that I wanted to show off.

Hmm… I don’t really like how that sounded, but it’s the truth.

How about you? What piercings do you have?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. It’s you, me and the Gilmore girls, love. That’ll be our post-turkey day recuperation/celebration. I’ll bring the peach Bellini and pecan pie. See you in Stars Hollow in approximately 90 minutes. 🙂

Hi Karen! Hope you had a wonderful thanksgiving! I’m basic too. Only my ears are pierced. I’ve got 2 holes in each but just wear earrings in the first one.

I only have my ears pierced too – I think I was about 8 or 9 when mine were done? I remember pestering my Mum for pierced ears for ages! In my mid twenties I did think about getting a tragus piercing, but I never got around to it. I’m more a tattoo person than a piercing person – I have 3 tattoos (so far anyway!)

I have multiple piercings in my nose, ears and…. other places. I’m sure you’re going to hear this a few times, but I’d strongly recommend against getting a piercing at a mall kiosk or with a piercing gun. It’s unhygienic and unnecessary. Piercings performed by an experienced piercer with a sharp, single use needle are far safer and less painful. It may be a bit more expensive, but it’s so much safer and more pleasant. Like tattooing, it’s best left to experts who have a good portfolio of work.

People seriously overestimate the pain from piercings. It only lasts for a few seconds. You can handle almost anything for a few seconds.

    Hi Karen,

I have both ears pierced 3x, my tragus in left ear & front helix in right plus my right pierced at the top 2x. Also my nose, navel and I have 3 microdermals in my left wrist. Thinking of getting my labret (under lip) done next.

One in each ear. Got them when I was 15. My father was against it but my mother and I went on the sly when he wasn’t paying attention. He didn’t notice them for at least a few days.

I love wearing earrings and haven’t regretted it. There was a time I wanted my nose pierced too but I haven’t done it yet.

I don’t have any right now. I’m not sure why but in my early 20’s my ears closed up and I just never got them redone. Maybe someday!

Just my ears — that’s enough for me! I got them done as soon as I graduated from college, because then my parents couldn’t give me serious grief about it (it was a cultural thing with them to NOT have anything pierced). But, then, when I went home for a visit, I couldn’t figure out why I wasn’t getting any grief at all — until I saw my great-aunt Gertrude. She had gone and gotten her ears pierced, as well!

None! Not even ears! Metal sensitivities, mom would never let me get it done growing up, and as an adult, I don’t really care that much. I considered getting my nose done for a while though.

I only have one piercing and it’s my septum. I got it back in May in the Haight. I told my piercer that I wanted a piercing where I couldn’t see the hole since I get weirded out by visible piercing holes.

Oh, I’m basic too! I have only ear piercings, I’ve always wanted a cartilage(on ear) piercing but all my friends that had it say that it was super painful. I probably won’t get one. Yeah,I wish that I had my ears pierced when I was a baby, then I would not remember it. I won’t blame you if you had Connor Claire’s done now.

Basic. Just my ears pierced once. My parents were dead set against it. Somehow I talked my Dad into to it and he let me get them pierced for my 14th birthday. He took me to Montgomery Wards (old, now closed department store) and I had them pierced there. For some reason my left ear hurt like crazy. I remember leaning my head against the window, sitting in the back seat on the way home because it was cold out and the cold glass felt good.
It was funny because Dear Husband did not want Dear Daughter to have her ears pierced. When she was in junior high and she asked, I just took her to have them pierced and said I would deal with her dad.
Watched the first episode of Gilmore Girls this afternoon when Dear Daughter came by the house after having lunch with her college friends who are in town.

I’ve got 6 holes in one ear, 3 in the other but they have either closed up or I can’t wear anything because I have an allergy now. I have a Monroe but it’s closed – they close super fast otherwise I’d put it in every day after work 🙁 I had a nose piercing but I saw a picture of myself with it and took it out immediately. I also had a belly piercing that I took out when I had my last son. I was 35 and had a laparotomy scar right next to it. I was done at that point.

I have my ears pierced, and my belly button. Six months after getting my belly button pierced I was told by a nurse in the hospital that I medically basically wasn’t allowed to get any tattoos or piercings (whoops). I was born with a heart issue and had surgery when I was 2 years old, so I have an increased risk of heart infection – thus tattoos and piercings are a no-no.

None! I always wanted pierced ears when I was younger but my mom wouldn’t let me. I guess she wanted to make sure I wanted it and wasn’t doing it cause everyone else was… And now that I’m older, I appreciate the uniqueness that having no piercings gives me. (although it is kinda hard to find nice earrings!)

I have my ears, my nose, my belly button, and a microdermal in my cheek (for that instant touch of glam!). I used to have my lip pierced but the jewelry fell out on a flight to Seattle and I was amazed how quickly it closed up!

You’d look super adorable with a nose stud btw, Karen!

Ooo piercings! I am wondering what it’s like to wash your face if you have a fresh eyebrow or nose piercing, because I’m debating between the two if I have any spare cash again soon. People in Minneapolis/St. Paul have way more piercings and tattoos than I noticed of people in the Bay Area when I was growing up, and now I’m trying to catch up. My mom and I got my one hole in each ear just before my tenth birthday, and for at least ten years I have been wanting a second in each ear. Finally this past February, my mom was visiting and I told her to come with me to a piercing studio and let’s get it done! So now I finally have my two piercings in each earlobe and I’m hooked. One of my best and most normal friends has piercings all down her ears and recently got a nose septum done, and it’s interesting that in this specific location, that’s totally normal and nondescript. I think anywhere else in the United States and you’d get second looks. Because it’s so normal, I’m really wondering what I want next… tattoo or nose or eyebrow piercing. And would I have to be more careful with my dry skin if I got those piercings? Would I have to be careful with where I put my makeup? Those are important questions to answer!

I LOVE piercings. In my left ear, I have four lobe piercings, an orbital in my helix, three outer helix piercings, plus inner conch, tragus, and daith piercings. In my right ear, I have four lobe piercings, an outer helix piercing, an industrial, two flats piercings, plus inner conch and rook piercings. I also have a nostril piercing, and two body piercings. I plan on getting my eyebrow re-pierced soon (the original migrated, so I retired it).

I had three micro-dermals in my chest at one point, but they rejected after a year or so, and I opted not to try again. They were really cool, though.

I used to have 3 in each ear, my cartilage in one ear and my belly button. I now only have one piercing in each ear… and the belly button ring was accidentally ripped out when I was at work one day. Ugh. When I was in college (1998) and rushing my sorority I was the only pledge to NOT get her tongue pierced. No other types of piercings have really pulled me in other than what I had lol

Just my ears x 1 in each lobe. I had to wait until I was 16 because my dad was dead set against it, but my mum finally persauded him to agree that I could have them done once I’d done my exams. I have one tattoo that I had done when I was 27 too, its a garland of floweres round my belly button.
