You might be wondering, “So what in tarnation is this Monday Poll thing anyway!?”
Well, it isn’t exactly a poll. It’s more of a constantly evolving (devolving?), somewhat random list of questions I’ve been putting out to readers every Monday morning for the past seven years. (It’s like a kickstart for your brain.) I’ve always enjoyed reading your answers in the comments, and I hope you enjoy reading mine.
- If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be?
I’d really want to be a cello, because the cello is kind of moody, but there’s still a sweet sadness to it.But I’d probably end up being a piccolo… They’re small, and sprightly, and high pitched, and you really can’t ignore ’em.
- Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motor home?
Driving a motorhome is basically my nightmare, so no to the driving! — but yes to being a passenger. My parents had one, and when I was a teenager they went through this phase where they wanted to drive all over the United States with the whole family in it.I just remember the constant motion in that enclosed space and not being able to get out FOR HOURS. Needless to say, I listened to my Walkman a lot.
- How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?
I’m open to the possibility that there are legit people out there with psychic abilities. The only time I’ve been to a psychic was when I was working at a law firm. I was in my early 20s, and the office I worked for did this fun thing where they’d hire a bunch of psychics, and then all of the employees would go to them.
The first thing the lady said to me when I walked in was, “You’re not meant to do this.” LOL! She was talking about me someday becoming a lawyer.
Yeah, deep down, I already knew that…but it was nice having her confirm it.
- What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
Not to toot my own horn, but I usually do OK in interviews. People tell me I can be quite charming (when I’m not driving them crazy). As for my worst interview ever? Well, it didn’t start off badly, but it got there in a hurry. It was for a job as a legal assistant in a building’s basement with no windows. I just remember being taken down there and seeing these stacks of documents up to the ceiling and hearing a menacing hum, like some force was telling me to stay away. I don’t know if the hum was from the air conditioning or just the building itself, but I couldn’t breathe! It was terrible.
I did not take that job, by the way.
- If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
Gilmore Girls! Rory and Lane, the early years.
Your turn. 🙂 Just copy and paste the following questions into a comment with your answers. I look forward to reading ’em!
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be?
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
What’s the recipe for a good Monday? For me, it usually involves getting a good night’s sleep, waking up to a fresh pot of coffee, and then saying hi and doing the Monday Poll with you. So, hi, and good morning! 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Kiss & Make-up says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be? Probably a flute. Not sure why, lol.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome? Never.
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one? I don’t believe in them, but I do think they’re fun.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition? I don’t think I’ve ever had either… They were all kind of normal I guess, no extreme highs or lows 🙂
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be? Oh SO easy, The Vampire Diaries!
Karen says
So, I tried to watch the The Vampire Diaries but just couldn’t get into it. Does it take a while? I’m about three episodes into the first season.
Kiss & Make-up says
Yeah, I remember struggling a bit the first few episodes. But then I fell in love with Damon, so yeah, that helps a lot 😉
Erin says
TVD is very hard for the first two seasons. I only spot watched it. In season 3 things pick up a bit. I won’t spoil the plot or anything but I find Damon quite cheeky but lovable. His character is the only reason I became a regular viewer. Plus he’s an absolute peach in real life, so anything I can do to support him or draw attention to his charitable foundation is great. I’ve partnered with them and a retailer for a blog piece and I give money to the ISF when I can afford to!
Estefania says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be? A violin, I think… Kind of obnoxious but still impressive.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?NOOOOO. I get carsick somewhat easily, and that combined with a rocking enclosed space would make for a very unhappy Estefania.
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one? I don’t think that the kind of people who make a living out of it are actually gifted. I think if there are people who are legitimate, they’re not fortune tellers. I’ve never been to one… I tend to feel like those kinds of things are just…weird. I don’t know how to explain it, but since I think they’re just extremely good observers, I don’t like the idea of being dissected by my visual “cues” or whatever.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition? My best job interview is for the job I have now. I was initially rejected and told that there were other candidates for the job that were better suited. The very next day I got an email saying to please come in for a second interview! Haha I met with the director and officer in my department and was hired a few days after that! The worst interview has to be the one I had for a sales job in high school (which I absolutely hated). It was a group interview, and I was the only one in a suit and with a resume. I just felt so uncomfortable.
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be? Hmm…. I’d really love to hang out with everyone in The Breakfast Club or Ferris Bueller, but I kinda wanna be in Gossip Girl too 😀
Karen says
If you were in Gossip Girl you’d get to wear some kick-@ss clothes! But the drama, oh, the drama!
How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun?
Estefania says
Nah, twas very chill. I did, however, Back to MAC for Chili lipstick. Have you ever tried it?? It’s my jam right now. Like a burnt leather orange/brown with a hint of red and a matte finish!
I think I’m still kind of in denial about last night’s TWD, too. Oh, the despair!!!
Half of me was like oh, sh**, and the other half was like, who cares! Where’s Carol?!?
Karen says
Oh, I know that color! Very ’90s. What have you been doing for eyes? Matte beiges?
I’m really crabby about last night’s big reveal. 🙁 Do you think they’ll continue on to DC? I think that they’re going to go back. At least that’s what I would do.
Estefania says
It really is. I loved it yesterday with Vintage Selection Paint Pot all over, no liner, and BIG lashes. Love!
I honestly don’t know… I feel like Glenn and Maggie partly used them as an excuse to get away from the others before things got even worse, so they might suggest heading to DC anyway. If I were them I’d probably leave the others and start looking for Beth…
BTW, totally off topic, but I know the Espinoza girl from a kids show I used to watch called Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide (I must’ve been in middle school), so the scene in the library was especially traumatic for me! D:
Petra says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be? First thought – violin. No idea why though.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?
Passanger – my parents rented one for a week. I pretty much hated it…
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?
Don’t really have an opinion. Never been and don’t feel the need to either.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
I tend to do fairly well. No distasters.
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
So with you on the Rory/Lane train! Love!!
I am having a week of living out of a suitcase and just going home today to repack and be off again – and what meets me at home. My hub has cook some of my fav food and offered to give me a foot rub. Just whqt I needed in the craziness. So happy right now. That is a great monday!
Karen says
Hi Petra,
How nice of your hubby! What is the dish that he’s making for you?
Petra says
Salmon, shrimp, avocado, ovenbaked beets and carrots and some garlic-parmesan creme fraiche. Sooo good!
Karen says
Oh, that sounds delicious! Now I wish I was having that for lunch.
Tatiana says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be?
Not sure what I would be. But when I read this question I immediately thought of flutes and piccolos, so maybe one of those two.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?
Does having drinks in a parked motorhome count? The only time I’ve ever been in motorhomes is at horse shows where a lot of drinking and socializing goes on at the end of the day. Although I’m a wimp and always stayed in nearby hotels instead.
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?
I once visited my friend in Boston and there was a gypsy on the street reading palms. She told my friend that money was very important to her. (True) She also told me that I would never be rich but that I would be comfortable and that my family would be very important to me. Compared to most of the people in this world I’m fairly well off. But compared to many of the movers and shakers in Silicon Valley I am not. But I have the most amazing family and that makes my life very rich indeed. I have to admit, I’d kind of like to find an animal communicator so I could know how happy or not all my fur beasts are.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
It’s been so long since I’ve interviewed for a job. But I guess the worst interview was for the Silicon Valley job where I met my Dear Husband. It was completely different than any interview I had had up until that point. It lasted all day and they had every last person at this start up talk with me, not just the people in the department I’d be working in. I’ve since learned that it is pretty normal for all day, multi person interviews here in the valley. Ugh. So glad to not be working in tech anymore.
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
I’m with you. Rory all the way. Although, I wouldn’t mind hanging out with Buffy (the Vampire Slayer) either. Though I think I’d be more comfortable reading and watching movies while eating ice cream and red vines with Rory.
Karen says
Hi Tatiana,
Buffy would be cool but way too much work. Plus, I don’t want to stay up all night! I need to be in bed by 9 LOL.
Now that you no longer work in tech, what do you do?
By the way, interesting that you should mention animal communicators, because my former neighbor once told me that she had communicated with an animal shaman and that shaman told her that Tabs was meant to be my kitty. Yeah, that was an interesting conversation.
Debra says
1. I’d be a piano or a violin, probably the piano even though “I” would need to be tuned periodically. The violin would too but I prefer the idea of the greater range of sounds.
2. Once and only once I was in a motor home. A neighbor dropped me off (and it was a literal drop) at the airport. Can’t say if I experienced your claustrophobia (and I am claustrophobic) but I sat very close to the door and hopped out as soon as that swaying giant stopped swaying at the curb!
3. Never been to a psychic and I do believe in them but I think the real ones do not charge money.
4. The worst job interview (so many to choose from!) was the one where I told the prospective boss that I knew he was not going to hire me and he knew he was not going to hire me so why don’t we just stop this charade now! I left him speechless!
Worst audition was a competition (high school years) where I had to find a relative 7th from the tonic note. I did it and managed to sing the Hungarian folk song a cappela (sp?). The cutoff was 25 singers for the state chorus. I came in at 26. That’s when I decided going solo might be better!
Best job interview: Probably for the technical writer job that led to much better things (contract writing). Best audition: for a part in a play that I got but then decided I did not want to play the part!
5. I am stumped on this one. Teen years still scare me. Maybe “The Wonder Years” just to feel some wonder!
Karen says
Hi Debra,
It’s different when you’re in a motor home with a lot of people. Get a few bodies in there and all of the sudden it feels like a can of sardines. Or maybe that’s just me being cray, LOL!
So, I learn something new about you every day! Do you still sing? And what part do you sing? I’m an alto.
Rachel P. says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be? – I think I’d be a trumpet and I’m content with that.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome? – Nope! My friend does have a pop-top camper van, but it’s not exactly a motor home. I have been passenger in that vehicle, though (and it played host to many a fun sleepover back in the day!)
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one? – Mixed feelings. I’ve never been to a “proper” psychic, but I met a girl who read my tarot a few months ago. We were in a party setting, so she made me re-shuffle the deck a few times because neither of us were focusing, but once she got down to it, I was stunned. She got extremely specific without any prompting or backstory from me, and I was alarmed the entire time by how she was 99% (yes, 99% correct) about my most private details. She was a bit sassy and gave me her opinions/advice when we were wrapping up, which I didn’t take, thinking I knew better and didn’t like a stranger telling me what I should do. As it happens, ignoring her advice was a mistake. If I had listened to her, I could have avoided some seriously rough patches in September, but I guess I was meant to learn those lessons the hard way. My gut led me astray, and a stranger had known all along. All in all… some people have an extrasensory energy about them and can read others in mysterious ways.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition? – Interviews aren’t too memorable for me, but my best audition was when I sang “Colors of the Wind” (yes, from Pocahontas, lol) to try out for Beauty & the Beast. I nailed it, and the kicker is that I didn’t even get that good a part in the end, but the music director was this asshole who I hated as a vocal coach in childhood. He was playing piano for the auditions and when I was done he looked at me in awe. I was like, “take THAT, sucka!” Hahaha.
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be? – The teen x-men! Of course, I would want to be a mutant as well, haha.
Karen says
Hey Rachel,
I LOVE your story about your audition. Are you one of those lucky gals who can sing, dance and act? I am a decent singer and an OK dancer. My acting, well, you know what they say. Fake it ’til you make it, LOL!
Rachel P. says
I bet you can sing and dance up a storm!! I am a good enough singer, stronger in acting, but as much as I love to dance/watch dance performances, I have never had much grace of motion, haha! My heart breaks a little bit (in a good way) when Nutcracker seasons comes around each year- the Sugar Plum Fairy and all the snowflakes, etc, move so beautifully!
Karen says
It’s been years so I’d be singing and dancing up a light drizzle rather than a storm, LOL! I know what you mean about the Nutcracker. I love the music (really great flute parts) and it’s one of my all-time faves to watch. Do you still do shows? What was the last one you did?
Rachel P. says
Tell me about! I guess I’d be drizzling rather than storming the stage as well- it’s been a few years since my last performance. Last one was the opera “Street Scene”, back in college. I am not classically trained, but it was the first big melding of the theatre and vocal performance departments, so I was very fortunate to score a sizable role. Would love to audition for another show, though! If you could audition for any show, what would it be?
Karen says
OOh, I’ve never heard of that show. I’ll see if I can find it so I can listen to the music. Did you like your part?
Let’s see, if I could audition for any show, I guess Wicked would be pretty cool. Or Miss Saigon, although not for a main part (too much pressure), but for a secondary or a part in the chorus. How about you?
Rachel P. says
Miss Saigon or Wicked would be amazing! 😀 Be warned, Street Scene is not the most *happening* show I’ve ever been in (i.e. all my friends who came to see it were bored to death, lol) but it was memorable!
I wouldn’t mind being in Chicago as Velma Kelly, but my dream would be The Sound of Music as Maria (although she is a true soprano- that would be quite the vocal exercise!)
Leah G. says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be? Flute! I played in grades 5-12 and have many fond memories. 🙂
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome? No but we used to have a roof-top tent for our old Range Rover! 🙂 We got a lot of interesting looks at campgrounds!
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one? I’ve had my tarot cards read. I’m okay with that style of fortune teller.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition? In college for a company that was hiring people to sell knives door-to-door (true story!) YIKES
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be? Hmmm. The teens in ‘Under the Dome’ are mildly annoying but pretty resourceful–I’d have to say them.
Kylie says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be?
Definitely the violin. I’d love to play the background on Dreams by Fleetwood Mac.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?
No, thank god. I literally have zero desire to ever do that.
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?
Ehhh. I’ve never been to one. I’m not sure I believe certain people are more in tune with the spiritual. And while I believe in fate and destiny, I do believe the choices we make contribute to where we end up life. And how could someone else know what choices we’re going to make before we make them?
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
Best was probably for my first job out of college. I could tell I knocked it out of the park with the girl who I’d be replacing, and definitely with the woman for whom I’d be working. Too bad I hated the job! But I knew pretty instantly they liked me and wasn’t surprised when I got the offer.
Worst was for another job right out of college (doing a ton of interviews at the same time). It was for a publishing house that makes crossword & Sudoku puzzles. The woman called me initially and conducted an on the spot interview as I was walking across campus. She was insulted when I didn’t immediately recognize her name– hello, I had applied for like 200 jobs! And then when I went to the interview, we could both tell I wasn’t a great fit. Her questions were more aimed for a mid-level personnel. When she called me to say I didn’t get it, I was obviously not surprised!
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
Dawson’s Creek? They seemed to always have a good time!
Alex says
1) Probably a violin because I’m envious of anyone who can play one! I sadly have no musical talent, I must say.
2) I’ve never driven or been a passenger in a motor home. However, I like staying indoors and love riding around in my car, so for me it would be a double win!
3) I’ve never been to a fortune/psychic teller but I guess that it would be fun. My dad used to tell me this story that on the day that he lost his wallet with his paycheck inside (poor dad, lol) he went to a fortune teller and she told him that he’ll have two beautiful kids and a nice car haha. Well, I guess me and my brother are quite easy on the eyes, and he can’t complain about his car, so I guess it all came true in the end :p
4) I’ve actually never failed an interview *knocks on wood* but when I lived in Paris, if you’re a student/intern and you go apartment hunting you literally get interviewed by the landlords and the agencies. I ended up hating the entire city because of that and so I packed my bags and came back home. Literally like that. It just wasn’t meant to be.
5) Umm… Twilight? I’m not that into teen drama but who wouldn’t like to make *friends* with Taylor Lautner huh? 😉
LindaLibraLoca says
Hi, even though it is Monday Evening where I live.
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be?
The violin. I just love the sound.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?
Yes to both and I loved it. Mr. Loca and I visited Australia two years ago, driving around on our own, stopping wherever we liked to. We´ll do the same in New Zealand next year, this time with the Little Bean.
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?
I have never been to one, but I strongly believe there is more than what the eye can see.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
Well, I got every job I applied for, but I can’t say I enjoyed any of those interviews a lot…
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
Pretty Little Liars. Spencer and I would have so much in common.
Karen says
I’ve always wanted to visit New Zealand! When will you be going?
LindaLibraLoca says
Mid-January, for six weeks. It will be great!
Karen says
Amazing! Do you guys have your itinerary planned and everything?
We’re thinking of taking a trip sometime in either January or February to Hawaii (which is where El Hub is from), but haven’t made any definite plans. It’s been forever since I’ve been swimming in the ocean!
LindaLibraLoca says
No, we haven’t. We just know where we will start and where we will end our trip, as well as the flights and a hotel for the first nights. Everything else will be up to decide when we are there, depending on if we feel like driving or staying a little longer, and most importantly how the Little Bean deals with the road trip. She will be eleven months come january, and ever since she started crawling three weeks ago, she is always moving, so I can imagine she will not be the one to sit in her car seat for hours.
Hawaii sounds fun, do you still have relatives over there?
Shannon says
Even though it’s the afternoon, I can happily settle into the Monday poll with a cup of hot coffee in hand…
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be?
I’d have to go with the clarinet – I played it for such a long time that I’m practically OBLIGATED 🙂 Something that takes lots of discipline and practice to play well (saxophonists always complain about the squeakiness of clarinets), but rewards you with a GORGEOUS sound once you get it down. I’d say I’m kinda like that: it can take people a little while to “get me” or for me to open up, but once we’re on the same page it’s sunshine and rainbows, baby.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?
Yes! And I was thrilled about it at the time, haha. My grandparents had a motorhome when I was younger, and I got to ride in it for the first time when I was in my tweens or so. My grandma pulled out caramel apple dip from the fridge and sliced up some apples as we trundled along. I was ALL about it. 🙂
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?
I’ve never been to one, but I have friends who have and have had some pretty meaningful experiences. I’d be open to it!
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
Hmm… best interview was probably for the job I currently have. I was freakin on POINT the whole time. Worst? I was called for the interview and was asked to come in the same day (like 2 or 3 hours later). I had very little time to prepare, mentally and physically, and ended up feeling really hazy and forgetting the questions they asked and not being able to follow my train of thought… ugh, it was horrible. Sadly, my interviews are generally like that! Either totally “on” or totally “off.” At least I usually leave the interview knowing what impression I left… ah well. You win some, you lose some.
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
Um, Lindsay Lohan from when she played in The Parent Trap. Girl ROCKED that movie.
Rachel R. says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be? Cello: Deep and a little moody, but beautiful.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome? I’m with you on driving one being a nightmare. No way! I have ridden in one.
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one? I think their are people with psychic abilities, but if they’re charging for it, they don’t have it. So, no, I have never gone to one, nor would I.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition? In 5th grade I was back at school after being really ill. Auditions for a play were that day. I was going to skip, but friends convinced me to try out. I was tired, and it was the worst audition anyone has ever given for anything.
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be? I’m 45, I don’t want to hang out with any teenagers. I hated hanging out with teenagers when I was a teenager. Now, my own are teen kids are annoying enough. 🙂
Paulomi says
Hi Karen,

Erin says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be?
A Cello. Curvy and with the potential for the most beauty or the most sorrow out of all the instruments.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?
Yes! My grandparents had a motorhome in the 80’s. We went all over California in it as a family or with them in caravan. I made my first pasta salad in Yosemite out of that Tioga’s kitchen! Great memories!
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?
Not sure I believe in them but I believe some people have the gift of premonition but most are just scammers.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
Best one: I got people to cry over my answers because they were so beautiful. Worst: I told them how to fix their entire problem they were trying to hire me for with their existing tools and manpower. Needless to say they thanked me profusely but there was then no job to give me.
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
Harry Potter! Don’t we all want Hogwarts to be real?
Alissa says
A makeup look that I have been too scared to try is smokey eyes. My makeup is always very light with a lot of light pink and pearly colors. I just don’t think I would look good with a dark smokey eye.
Trude says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be? Maybe the viola? Not as prominent or high-pitched as the violin, but close. 🙂
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome? No, even though my dad worked for Alfa Leisure for years (they made super fancy ones).
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one? Nope and they’re really great at reading people, but that’s about it.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition? When I auditioned for the choir at my university (before getting accepted). I finished and the director said “You’ve got a head cold, don’t you?” Luckily the answer was yes, but I’m still glad I accepted the academic scholarship instead of the music one. 😉
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be? Tough one! Ditto what Erin said – Hermione is my hero!
Icequeen81 says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be?
a saxophoon
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?
no wat is that?
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?yeah with a friend for her, she wanted to know stuff
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
one where they asked me all about my parents , my private life I was like why?
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
shadow cat of xmen
Icequeen81 says
They asked me if my parents are still working,if they didn’t how are they living , I was like chick my parents are 64, of course they have a pension. they asked about my man what he did, how much he earned where he work . I was like whattt??
Katie F says
1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be?
Can I cheat and be the conductor? 🙂 If not, I guess I’d say timpani – they’re not super noticeable at first, but they have a big sound and they sort of underlie everything else.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?
Nope! I don’t know anyone who has one. I think it’d be fun to drive though, I like driving challenging vehicles. I once got props from a random person walking by when I backed a moving truck out onto a busy street around a sharp corner.
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?
Mixed feelings. I don’t believe that there are people who can literally see the future, or who can talk to dead people or spirits or stuff like that. But I do think there are some people who are very wise and very good at reading people, and can help you understand more about yourself. Sort of like folk therapists, if you will.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
I’ve never had a job interview. I had one interview for college – I guess I did well because I got into that school (although I didn’t end up going). Worst audition was definitely for an all-state choir. My CD skipped and I got thrown off and just messed up everything.
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
Daria and Jane!

1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be?
I’d be a cello, because that’s what I am in the symphony orchestra I play in! 😀 *high fives* for a fellow cello, in spirit or in reality 😉
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome?
No, but since childhood I have had a secret fascination with them. I’ve always wanted to go on some sort of zany adventure in one…
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one?
No, but I did manage to convince some of the other little girls at a party that I could read palms once (in my mis-spent youth, of course).
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition?
Best one was an unofficial one during a conference, where I was headhunted by a government research institute from Germany… 😀 Watch this space, LOL! I’ve never really had a terrible one, mostly because one way or another I haven’t had to have all that many interviews for the various jobs I’ve held. It happens like that at university, I’ve found. Your grad student status qualifies you to teach/mark, and they just need bodies that they can lock in a room (into which, to be fair, they continuously shovel snacks) to get 1500 papers marked in 2 days… ^_^
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be?
Ye Gods, that’s a hard one… I haven’t watched TV in many a year, so I’m a bit behind the times! I’ll have to default to the cast of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which I loved as a child – they all seemed like pretty neat kids, I guess! I do hear what Erin’s saying about the Harry Potter kids, but they were pretty angsty teens, and if I’m honest I’d be in it for the magic. Also maybe Hermione. 😉

1. If you were an instrument in a symphony, which instrument would you be? – I guess I would be a violin. I enjoy so much listening to it so that would be my natural choice.
2. Have you ever driven or been a passenger in a motorhome? – No, never, but I guess it would be fun at first 😀
3. How do you feel about psychics and fortune tellers? Have you ever been to one? – Yes, recently I visited one and it was the worst idea ever! I regret it so much, because I got so upset by the things she told me I needed quite some time after that to get back to normal. And all in all nothing she said was true, so everything I got from this was a big disappointment. You have to believe that YOU are the one who’s making your future and not to depend on whatever someone who doesn’t know you at all tells you.
4. What was your best (and worst) job interview or audition? – I guess the best was for my current job since I got it 😀 And the worst was when I got to write an assignment which I had no idea what to write for so it was a disaster and I tried to leave as fast as I can after I submitted my writing lol Btw Karen I’m a legal adviser and it was so interesting to learn that you also worked in that field! 🙂
5. If you could hang out with the teenage characters in any movie or TV show, which show or movie would it be? – Breaker High! I would do anything to be on that cruise ship and travel with these kids all over the world.
