Have You Ever Had a Major Makeup Oops Moment When You Left Makeup on Somebody’s Clothing?

December 7th, 2016 by Karen 25 Comments

makeup-on-clothing

I can’t remember one time in particular, but I seem to remember doing it a lot in the late ’90s and early 2000s, perhaps due to the number of frogs ? I was kissing… You know, like when you’re hugging somebody, and you leave blush or lipstick on their collar or their shirt.

Nowadays, if I leave makeup on somebody’s clothes, it’s El Hub or Connor, and neither one seems to mind. Neither does Tabs.?

How about you? When you hug somebody or give somebody a peck on the cheek, are you usually aware of your makeup, and do you try to keep it off their clothes? Have you ever had a major makeup-clothing oops moment, babe?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I’ve become so conscious about it that now is only by mistake, for example on my Aunt’s wedding my face crashed with her blue dress when I was protecting her while dancing “La víbora de la mar” (IDK if it happens in the US, but here’s a video: https://youtu.be/19xIZn776RA )

But mostly I try to avoid touching people with my face unless I’m barefaced.

OK, that video was so much fun to watch! What’s going on there in the dance? Whatever it is it looks like fun, LOL!

Filipino weddings have something called a “money dance” where guests go up to the bride and groom to dance with them individually. Before you dance with the person, you pin a bill on their clothes.

The main goal is push the bride and groom to make them fall from the chair, depending the people dancing it can get a little too savage.

That Filipino tradition seems way better than ours at least you get money.

I mean, yeah… I’d be pretty mad if someone pushed me on the floor and got my dress dirty, LOL!

I didn’t do the money dance at our wedding, but that’s mostly ’cause ours was pretty untraditional, which is our style. 🙂

Hi, Karen! You and the bebe are looking fabulous! Back in the ’90s a former boss and I rented space in a law firm with other attorneys. In the smallish kitchen I ran smack into a (married) male attorney and planted some lipstick on his collar! Luckily he and his wife were totally cool about it. 🙂

Too funny, Divina! Since it was the ’90s I’m betting your lipstick was some shade of matte brown!

Oh man, I worry about this every Sunday – I sing in a church choir, and when we give the sign of peace (hugs for everyone!) I’ll think “OH NO, LIPSTICK!” I always have keep my lips welll out of the way of clothing and hair and whatnot, haha! I don’t think I’ve ever gotten lipstick on anyone, but I’m fairly paranoid about it.
Other than that, I’ve definitely accidentally wiped lipstick and mascara onto my husbands shirts… love ya, honey! 🙂

Hey, at least it’s not gloss! Gloss is so much harder to keep out of hair when you’re hugging people, have you noticed?!

Only on Dear Husbands clothes. I once transferred foundation to one of his sweaters when I leaned my head on his shoulder during a movie. Usually, I get lipstick on him. He hates it. You should see the dance he does when he realizes I’m wearing lipstick and he doesn’t want it on his face or lips. But since I do all the laundry and make the trips to the dry cleaner it all comes out clean in the end.

Guys are funny. You know what El Hub hates? Lotion! He hates it when I put lotion all over my arms and hands and give him a hug. He acts like it’s the worst thing in the world. Big baby!

I could on about the strange behaviors of Dear Husband. But seriously, when I’m wearing lipstick and want a hug or kiss there’s lots of head bobbing and weaving back and forth to avoid it. Sometimes I just tell him it’s lip balm. And if I ever ask him to hold my purse while I’m juggling packages and putting on a coat or sweater you’d think I’d asked him to hold a timed bomb. What’s up with that? Lol.

OK, so when he holds your purse, does he do it in a cave man sort of way? El Hub will hold my purse (or the baby’s bag), but when he clutches it like it’s a sack of potatoes or rocks or something, like he’s about to swing it over someone’s head and attack them, LOL!

No, quite the opposite actually. He holds it out away from his body with his thumb and forefinger, like it’s a dirty diaper or something with cooties that he doesn’t want all over him. The one good thing, is he never, ever goes into my purse. If he needs the checkbook or he’s short on cash and needs some, he hands my purse over to me to get what he wants.

Dudes are so funny when it comes to purses. That’s why whenever I see a man with a man purse I point him out to El Hub and say, “See that guy? He’s knows what’s up with his man purse.”

YES. When I hugged my friend once while he was wearing a white sweatshirt. I was wearing my MAC powder foundation in C6, and I remember pulling back on the hug a little to avoid getting makeup on his shirt.

He hugged me super tight because he didn’t know about my transferable makeup. I noticed a little orange-beige smudge on his sweatshirt, right where my jaw touched it.

Usually I wear clear lip balm, but one time I tried on one of those Clinique gift with purchase lipsticks. It was a bright pink and I forgot I had it on and kissed the top of my kitty’s head. I remembered the lipstick when I saw bright pink on his white and gray fur. It did come off, but I felt bad for getting makeup on him. 🙁

Aww, Diane! I can just picture your cute little kitty with his bright lipstick kiss, aww! He sounds like an affectionate kitty. Does he also let you hug him, too?

Don’t think so. And if I did I wasn’t aware of it. Have left stains on my own clothes though. My winter jacket has a very high stiff collar which tends to rub against my chin and face, with foundation stains as a result.

I’m super-conscious of keeping my makeup off people’s clothes! A classmate accidentally got a big blob of foundation on the back of a black-and-white-striped cotton shirt I had draped over the back of my chair (on the very first day I wore it!), and I’m still trying to get the last remnants of that stain out, several months later! My dry cleaner says that probably no one but me would even notice it at this point, but that ghost of a stain still bugs me!

Bummer that it happened on the very first day you wore it, GRRRR! That would drive me nuts too.

Hope things on your end of the keyboard are good. It’s raining here today and I’m loving it. 🙂

Life’s good here, if a bit grey, weather-wise! Oh, well, it’s December, time to stay indoors, right? Only I need to get out for my walk!

Little Marya, who got her tiny mouth wedged into one of the bars of her cage a couple of days ago, is getting used to a cozy new, bar-free little home 🙂 It’s pretty small, though, and she’s a Dwarf hamster with a lot of energy, so I’ve ordered a couple of expansion pieces to go with it. Our little friends sure can keep us busy!

I hugged a co-worker and left foundation on his shoulder. I was mortified! Then came the awkward part of trying to be slick and brush it away claiming he had lint on his sweater. It only happened to me once and that’s when I decided to stop wearing foundation. I upped my skincare game and haven’t worn foundation in close to 6 months. No more accident waiting to happen!

In the AM I swipe my face with a micellar water, Hylamide C25 Booster, Hylamide Hyaluronic Serum, and the Cotz Sensitive SPF 40 Broad Spectrum UVA-UVB. Quick easy and simple.
