Why do I always feel better near a body of water?
It must be some kind of primitive woman thing… Like, the prehistoric part of my brain feels safer knowing that I could wash my hair in this creek if I had to…
After story time at the library today, Connor and I crossed this bridge to visit a bakery we like called Creekside. They give the kids that go to story time a free cookie. 🙂
And sometimes the nice person working the counter hooks me up with a cookie too. 🙂
This place has almost every kind of cookie imaginable, many of which taste even better with a cup of tea, or dipped into a cup of coffee.
I love their cookies, but I spend most of my time ogling the cakes. In my fantasy world, I’m the winner of the The Great British Baking Show, and I can bake everything in this display with my eyes closed.
Out of everything in this post, what would you choose?
Right now I’d go for the strawberry shortcake, and I hope you pick the carrot cake. Then we could share. 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I used to dislike any cake especially w icing . It actually made me nauseous.
At age 70 a complete turnaround has occurred !
Love any kind of cake esp w icing .
Send me the that heart ❤️ cookie ?
Which one did Connor Claire choose ?
Karen says
I love frosting, Michele. On cakes like carrot cake it’s absolutely necessary. 🙂
She ended up getting a sugar cookie with colorful confetti sprinkles. That’s the one they usually give the kids!

I’ll take anything chocolate! Connor looks so cute w her hand on the glass.
Design by Sydnee ?

Aww, thanks! She’s even cuter when she shares her cookie with me. 🙂

That’s an impressive array of sweets! I’m going to choose the baguette that I’m hoping is in a little bin just outside your pictures. 🙂 Agreed 100% on the water. I think the sound is very soothing.
So, I’m like a disco ball today. I picked up the Fenty Bomb Baby mini lip and highlighter kit. I’d been eyeing Gloss Bomb so I figured I’d give it a whirl. The Killawatt highlighter is like super frosty gold on me and I applied with the lightest possible touch. I will definitely not use on the bridge of my nose again, and probably not on my upper cheek bones either. It could be OK for an eye shadow, though. 🙂 And I do like Gloss Bomb. Pretty sparkly but I think it will be nice for summer.
Karen says
Girl that highlighter is CRAZY. It is way too much for me (and my pores). When did you become a highlighting person? For some reason I thought you weren’t into it.
BTW try layering Gloss Bomb on top of a nude lippie — it’s the best!
Kim says
Agreed 100%! I’m not usually a highlighter because of the frost/pore accentuating (at least on me). But, I thought it might be fun for the summer, which is usually when I’ll wear it occasionally. And, honestly, I was just trying to reach the minimum for free shipping and I had been interested in the gloss so I figured I’d try it. I should have known better because I gave away my High Beam (not golden disco ball, but silvery disco ball!). Something like Watt’s Up is definitely more up my alley – much more subtle – but I don’t think I can do anything on my upper cheek bones. It just spotlights the fine lines. 🙁
I’ll try the nude lip/gloss combo for sure! Thanks!

I’d eat all the cakes and those heart cookies look adorable, too!

OMG. The fruit tarts. The blueberries count as antioxidants, right?!
Rachel says
OMG Yum!!! Like how do you even choose?! And I agree with you about bodies of water, sitting by water is mesmerizing, like staring at a fire!
Karen says
I know. Maybe someday soon (like tomorrow) I’ll start a “systematic study” of the various cookies and cakes at Creekside. All in the name of research, of course.

I feel like I’d go for the Paris Brest! I’ve never had one, but want to try, especially since I studied abroad in Brest!
Karen says
I’m curious about that one too. Next time I go I’ll get one and then tell you all about it. Gotta do it for the team! (And my sweet tooth.)

Ooh I couldn’t pass up that strawberry shortcake, it looks incredible!
And what a sweet little walk across the bridge, over the creek and through the trees to the bakery – looks beautiful.
Maricar says
What a lovely bakery! I’ll get the carrot cake PLUS the chocolate cake! ?
Suzanne C says
Oh my, lemon curd cheesecake! I looooove lemon curd. And cheesecake. I bet I could make that. Possibly this weekend. 😉

I like that pink cake with the rose on it. Is it plain white cake under that icing? That’s a really cool bakery with a lot of interesting choices.
Is that creek a “babbling brook”? The creeks around here never are – they’re either stagnant mosquito-breeders or rushing flash floods, depending on the amount of rain. Creek lots used to be a big thing here until people realized the mosquito problem, and the fact that sloping land along the creeks almost inevitably eroded and slid into the creeks. Alligators and beavers are gradually moving into the northern part of TX, too.

Hey Karen! You were in my neck of the woods, I live right across from there, like literally cross the road and I am there.
Anyways, hope you enjoyed some of that yumminess, I love their lavender lemon shortbread cookies nom nom.

Believe it or not, I have actually made one of those Princess cakes – the green one with the pink rose on top. It took two and a half hours!! The sponge inside is in three layers sandwiched together with alternate layers of good strawberry jam (jelly), and custard with cream whipped into it. The green outer covering is marzipan – which I had to colour by hand!!! I only got through it all by repeating “I am Danerys, Stormborn, Khaleesi and Mother of Dragons… and I can do this!”
