OMG, it’s December 1st! Christmas is, like, basically here. I am so not ready for it.
On the plus side, though, TJ’s snacks, amirite? 🙂
Here are some things I’m currently loving at the moment. What have you been loving lately, my dear?
- Trader Joe’s seasonal noms
- Serving trays at Marshalls
- MAC Brow Sculpt Brown Pencil
- MAC Mariah Carey Lash 05
- DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

I miss hearing Miss Connor babbling in the video but you look gorgeous as always. Here are my five things:
1) Drugstore brow products, I have two that have two little flaws but they look good on: Revlon Brow Fantasy which I hate it is a pencil you need to sharpen but the result of using the pencil and the brow gel, leave with a full but natural brow; and L’Oréal Brow Stylist which is good but the brushes inside only work on a pinch.
2) My Mohawk, yes I got one that isn’t too scandalous but my face looks skinnier and I look better.
3) Jane the virgin, for me it’s the perfect parody of telenovelas; I’m on season one but I love it.
4) The fact that I’m on vacation for a month I’m going to binge watch and read a lot.
5) Having a friend who is studying physiotherapy, I went today with him and I already feel better.
By the way you look amazing with those lashes.
Karen says
Oh wow, have fun on your vacation! I’m so jealous, I’d love a month to just vegetate and read! Will you be traveling anywhere?
Now for your mohawk, you need to dye it a crazy color!
Efrain says
I’m not sure if we’re going on Christmas to our hometown, I’d love to travel by myself but I have no money because I’ve spent a good amount on skincare and health aspects.
Maybe I’d go to the little towns near the city so I’d know new places but without spending a lot.
About the Mohawk, right now is a baby one and not so hardcore because I didn’t get completely shaved the sides (it was made with a machine not a razor so hair peeks through). In fact I was thinking on getting again that bleach blonde and then try some colors I know lilac looks good on me.
Karen says
I vote for lilac! The only thing though is that bleaching your hair fries it. When I had lighter hair with blonde-ish streaks it was dry, dry, dry. Still though if you’re good about using masks and moisturizers you should be fine. I actually have the urge to dye mine pink! I’d do it but it’s too high maintenance and I can’t stand the though of having to sit through bleaching it.
How far have you gotten on Jane the Virgin? It’s so cheesy but a lot of fun. If you have time try watching Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. It’s so good and hilarious!
Efrain says
I think you didn’t notice the first time I bleached my hair because I didn’t posted on Instagram but for my birthday I bleached it myself and try to get it gray but it didn’t work because I was swimming on weekends.
I stopped swimming and I went lilac in order to avoid brassiness but instead of looking white it looked completely lilac. I thought it was a fail but I look amazing.
You’re right about how dry hair gets in the end I cut it all because of how dry it was. If I do it I’ll need to invest in a lot of hair masks to use them instead of hair conditioner.
I’m halfway of the Jane the virgin first season but yes it’s cheesy and hilarious, I’ll check Crazy ex-girlfriend on Netflix

1. Starbucks’ Christmas red cups! Love the many intricate designs.
2. Bobbi brown art stick – I finally picked one up for myself after wanting them for so long, your blog post on them was definitely an enabler! Got it in sunset orange and love the shade too!
3. Not sure if counts as a thing but my daughter Kate’s laughter. So infectious and joyful!
4. Hera UV mist cushion – yes to good coverage that looks natural and lasts all day!
5. Missha dual eyebrow pencil and powder. As good as any designer brow product at a fraction the cost!
Karen says
Hi Jen,
Your daughter’s laugh totally counts. Now I need to add Connor’s laugh to my next list. 🙂 How old is your little girl?
P.S. I’m so happy you like Bobbi’s Art Stick. They’re so fun!

Hi Karen! I just spent a couple months working on the first draft of a memoir so I’m trying to catch up on the few blogs I follow. I love your “5 Things” posts! Here are mine:
1. Finding out that one of my closest friends is a newer makeup lover so I get to advise her on brands!
2. Brie with my cranberry orange relish on crackers for breakfast. I “may” have been eating this for the past week as I have lots of relish left from Thanksgiving.
3. Vitamin D. Seriously. It boosts my mood and keeps me from sinking into a depression once Daylight Savings kicks in.
4. My new tattoo! It’s seven small stars incorporated into an existing tattoo on my left wrist, one for each of my nieces and nephews.
5. The writers I’ve met the past couple months, both in my immediate area and on-line. I’m a beta reader for two of them and I won a giveaway for another author’s book!
Thank you for all the thought and effort you put into your written and filmed posts and designing the adorable items in your store, especially as a full-time mom and wife. Your blog is always a bright spot in my day (when I remember to check it!).
Karen says
Hi Holly,
Congrats on your memoir, that’s so great! The first draft is the hardest one. 🙂 YOU DID IT!!!
I’ll have to try taking Vitamin D. Do you take a pill or are you incorporating it through different foods?
Holly says
I’m taking a supplement pill as I find that more effective for my body and also, I don’t care for fish and that’s like the first three foods full of vitamin D! I put the bottle right by my contact lens case so I remember to take one first thing in the morning.
And thanks for the encouragement on the writing; now, to edit it…
