When Was Your Last Haircut?

Published in: Hair, Just For Fun

Crikey! I’m waaay overdue for a trim. My last run-in with a scissors was December, and now my layers are all out of whack.

The situation with my roots is even worse (three words: hella white hairs). I’d planned a trip to the salon next week, but my May astrology chart (yes, I’m serious) says I should postpone any big physical changes until after Mercury comes out of retrograde… I know, I know — it’s kinda kooky to base styling decisions on planetary alignments, but Susan Miller rarely lets me down. 🙂

What about you? When was your last haircut?

  1. Frances says:

January. I really need to chop three inches and get highlights. Fortunately my sylist does such a good job that I do not have obvious roots. But as it gets hotter, my hair (long, thick curly mop) just gets more difficult to deal with!

  2. Toni says:

The first week of July 2009. I just forget to make time to try to get an appointment. I am still trying to find someone to cut my hair since I moved further away from my regular hairstylist. I have tried 2 hairstylists, and for some reason, they both gave me a modified version of the “Rachel” haircut from the 90’s Friends episodes. I keep telling them that I air dry my hair most every day and don’t have time to mess with it, since I have a special needs child, but they keep giving me cuts that need blowdrying, flat ironing, or curling.

  3. Lowelli says:

HAHA! I thought Tabs was a purse! HAHAHAA!

Anywho. Can’t remember the exact date but I’m thinking last July? I know!!! Waaaayy too long. I think I was just too scared because I cut my hair short 2 years ago (like everyone else) and I missed my long hair so much that I refuse to cut it now! But my sisters wedding is in June so I had a deadline…don’t want to look shaggy at her summer wedding 🙁

  4. lexi says:

Last month was my last trim – I pretty good staying on top of my regular salon visits. I have to keep my hair looking good best I can. Also, I’ll be getting highlights next weekend – something I have NOT done in YEARS! I needed a change – a freshening up if you will =)

  5. Kelly says:

I get mine done every 8-9 weeks religiously. I am due again June 5th!
.-= Kelly’s last blog post… Large and in Charge =-.

  6. Kate says:

Last week. I wanted it to look nice for a mini-vacation.

  7. Amber says:

A few weeks ago. I got it chopped shorter than it’s ever been and it was one of the best style decisions I’ve ever made! I love it now — I went to the refinery for a week, and after standing around in the rain and steam and wearing a hard hat, it still looked awesome at the end of the day.

In the past I have gone a year or two between haircuts, haha. You can fake it a lot longer with curly hair. When I lived in NJ I just never found anyone who really knew what they were doing with it. Now I have someone who is awesome.

  8. Kristi says:

I’m afraid to admit it, but my last trim was December 2008! AHH, I really need to get it trimmed, but I’m not super satisfied with my hair stylist and I want my hair to grow out, and I’m not sure what I want done. Hence waiting a year and a half to get anything done with it…

  9. Kim says:

Last Friday. I’m at the salon every 4 weeks, religiously. I’m a freak about roots (and gray). 🙂

  10. Shannon says:

I think it was January or February. I’m kind of way overdue… short hair is a pain in the neck to keep up! I’ve been going to the cosmetology school a lot recently, since I haven’t ventured out in Missoula to find a stylist since I moved. $9 for a haircut from a group of girlies who want to prove themselves is not too bad 🙂

Just a tip from when I got the best haircut ever: bring in a couple different pictures of the types of styles you like, even if they’re not the exact cut that you want. That way you can show your stylist what your tastes are and I think it gives him/her a much better idea of how to make your hair to suit you & your personality.

  11. E.D. says:

Eight weeks since my last cut, and about two weeks to go. I need to reschedule the appointment since I will be out of town on my scheduled day.

  12. Jeanie says:

Just got my color and cut yesterday….about 2-3 weeks earlier than I would’ve gotten it done. =/ Had to get hair done for my bro’s wedding this weekend. Dang gray hair!!!

  13. Tekoa says:

Blaaaaaaaaaahh! Its Cousin It from the Adams family!
Got my hair cut about a week ago for an Alice Cooper./Rob Zombie concert. Had an awful time though. So many people decided to light up that my fiance and I were smoked out. Jerks.

  14. Jian says:

I last went for a quick trim during February, and have since taken to my own bangs with a pair of scissors. I’m trying to grow my hair out too, so Im afraid of trying new hairdressers who might misinterpret “split ends off” as “2 inches off”. I always go to the same hairdresser in Shanghai!

  15. noemii says:

    oh man ..
i’ve been wanting a trim since forever. my hair almost touches my butt, i swear . haha . I haven’t had a trim probably since last ..may ? maybe even longer. i don’t even know ! i haven’t used a flat iron for like over two years and i’ve aaalways air dried my hair, except for my bangs . i still need a trim though . desperately !

  16. Christy says:

I used to only cut my hair once every 1-2 years, but ever since my friend became a certified stylist, it’s cut AND colour every six weeks. I could never stomach paying salon prices, and she’s so sweet I only pay $25 for the whole shebang.

  17. Liz G. says:

I get mine done every 6 weeks (cut and color) because I have so many gray hairs cropping up and they are impossible to hide. My next appointment is at the end of the month. Wish I could go longer but my hair is unmanageable as is, it would be a disaster if I waited too long between appointments.

  18. Lorraine says:

I can’t even remember…..I’m trying to grow it out, and I only need to get my split ends cut off. However, I cannot bring myself to pay someone $20 to trim 1.5 inches of hair. Every time I find myself with extra money, it’s whoooops, I got a new book. Whoooops, I got a six pack of hard cider……whooooops, I needed to have yet another lipstick. 😉

Hopefully this post will inspire me to get my tuz in motion, because the very ends of my hair are just ugh!

  19. gio says:

I think mine was about a year ago. I need to book an appointment with my hair stylist soon cos my hair is getting too long and it doesn’t suit me. I’m not sur what hai style I want though. I usually have my hair cut into a bob, but I’m getting tired of it.

  20. Dorie says:

Wow, I don’t think I’ve had a haircut since September of 2008! Wow that was a while ago lol. I’m pretty okay with it though, since I’ve been growing out my hair (used to have a pixie), but the ends are looking a little ragged…

  21. Carolanne says:

…BUT… if you had asked me 4 days ago…my answer would be last June =X!

  22. Scientific Housewife says:

I got a hair cut 3 weeks ago because I was in two weddings and needed my hair to look good. I need to get the tapering in the front cut more, however.

  23. Lily says:

I just got my hair cut today at Bucci! My last hair cut/ styling was in December 2009, my layers were all out of whack, too.

  24. I only get my hair cut once a year. It’s awful I know, and I probably have a bunch of split ends but I just keep forgetting to go in. I style my bangs myself once a month though, or whenever I get bored.
.-= makeup morsels’s last blog post… Antique Gold Delivers Me =-.

    • Karen says:

I used to cut my bangs back in the day. I don’t trust myself with the scissors anymore though… had one bad experience and that’s all I needed to teach me a lesson, LOL!

  25. Ida says:

more or less before last christmas…it needs an haircut, I know, but i’m so lazyyyyyyyyyy 😉

  26. Trisha says:

The last time I cut my hair was just a few weeks ago to trim off the dead ends. But that was the last time I did it. The last time someone ELSE cut my hair was more than 12 years ago. Yeah, I don’t have much trust in stylists. I’d rather do it myself.

  27. Maia says:

mine was def in dec too! and it was a horrible experience…had to get it cut THREE TIMES total to fix the hideousness that was done to me! been afraid to go back lol…or anywhere else for that matter…

  28. Catherine says:

I’m actually pretty good about getting my hair cut every 3 months and my bangs trimmed every month and a half in between. I have short hair though, so it’s a bit harder to just let it go. When I had long hair I routinely let it go for 6-8 months at a time. My last haircut was 4/1 and I should be scheduling an appt to get my bangs trimmed not this weekend, but the next weekend. =)

    • Karen says:

You’re so good about getting a trim! My stylist made me promise to come in more for more trims… yeah, that didn’t quite hold.

  29. Rachel says:

i’m fortunate and actually work in a salon, so i got mine cut about a month ago. i’m trying to grow my hair out so i don’t get to use my benefits as often as i would like 😛

  30. Jen says:

I last had a trim in February. I’m in the same boat as you, my layers are all out of whack, too. I’m thinking of going in next week though.

    • Karen says:

When they get this way the only thing I can do with it is wear it straight! Thank goodness for the flat iron and heat protecting products. 🙂

  31. Diana S. says:

Its been about a year since I cut it! I had the WORST experience at the Ulta hair salon recently when I got it dyed so I need to find a new place to both dye and cut my hair. I usually cut it once a year though to keep it long and I dye it once every 7-8 weeks.

  32. Helen says:

hmmm, I gave myself a trim in early June last year, in time for graduation. I usually trim myself, though, since I’ve been having trouble with finding a good stylist.

  33. Jessica says:

Mercury goes direct on May 12th I think.

I got my hair done beginning of March, and while the cut is good, my roots are in some dire need of attention.

Maybe I’ll call and make an appointment today…but first, I have to find a picture of what I want to do!

  34. amy says:

My last cut and colour was in March but I got a bang trim 2 weeks ago. I am due for a cut and colour soon. The latest I would go is June but I may go sooner.

  36. Nina says:

Aah mine was December too and I really need a decent cut now. I think I may go to my stylist next week, this time I will ask him for a shorter cut than last time though (hot weather coming and curly thick hair, you know).

  37. Krystal says:

Hum, the last time I cut my hair was late November 2007 (holy moly), but I did trim about an inch off once earlier this year. I usually go a couple years between cuts so I can grow it long and donate it.

  38. Nina says:

I am ashamed to admit that it has been MONTHS. I was due to go back in Feb/March but allergies got in the way.

My hair is kinda okay … could be better though!

  39. Jen says:

I went super short for summer. Its a modern version of the victoria beckham bob from a few years ago. I LOVE IT. Super fast to wash, dry and style. So far so good. I NEEDED short hair for summer! 🙂

Karen, did you notice you said “The Situation”??! JERSEY SHORE SEASON 2 😀 Am I the only one excited for it? I miss the orange tans & fist pumping.

  41. Lauren says:

The last week of March, during my spring break, I decided to cut my long locks to a short, above under the chin look. I aged about 5 years! I liked for a little while and then I got it cut again a month later because my hair had grown out to be bushy on the bottom. I’m always going into hair salons saying, “Cut out all the bulk.” 🙂

  43. Jeni says:

My hair is so thin and I hate having people touch it so I just cut it myself. I know that seems horrifying, but it takes me 5 minutes to just trim it, and sometimes I do some layers too. I cut it every few months. I used to have it cut professionally, but it never looked that great, so at least I’m saving tons of money.

  44. Rachael says:

I think it was in January… Now that you mention it, I should really get a haircut. I need my layers re-cut to keep my waves and curls from looking messy/weird and take some weight out of my hair. Plus I’ve got the ever present split ends that need to be removed.

  45. Ellen says:

Monday, actually. Not that it didn’t take me 2 months to actually bother to go get one…

  46. Fie says:

I’m guessing January. Yes, I don’t remember when was the last time I cut my hair. I’m letting it grow out now 🙂

I had a haircut scheduled last Saturday, but I couldn’t make it :/ So I’m going to attempt again this weekend and hopefully my hair will get some trimming! (BYE BYE SPLITENDS!)

  47. sarab says:

Today… but my previous haircut was in August, that’s 9 months! However I’m not happy with the result. I had long layered hair and wanted like a long bob but the stylist didn´t understand what I wanted and now I look like a child… I even got my hair in a ponytail the moment I got home!! Now I have to wait a couple of months to try another salon, it’s been really difficult to find a good one since I moved here almost two years ago.

  48. snoopysteph says:

I love Susan Miller’s astrology predictions! She’s always so accurate.

I got my hair cut & highlighted 2 weeks ago but before that it was August 2009. Gotta force myself to go more regularly…

  49. Antoinette says:

Umm…February- I think? But, I’m trying to grow out my hair…a bob. I haven’t had long hair in three years, and I miss it! Any tips for how to grow out hair without it looking like a hot mess? 🙂

  50. Anna says:

Wow. It seems like most everybody is not diligent about the hair cutting situation. Being in college in Chicago (10.25% tax, CRAZZYY) I wait until I go home to get a trim. I haven’t gotten it cut since the summer, but I plan on getting one within the first 3 days of going back home. I’m considering the Aveda salon… no matter what happens, at least i know their products will make my hair smell DELISH. =D

  51. Tania says:

Sorry I’m tardy for the party (Kim Z from Atlanta Housewives reference). I love your hair in any style but I am a sucker for bangs!

My hair was cut last week before I went to St. Louis. It went from a choppy mid length bob to Angela Bassett in “Waiting to Exhale”. That’s what I asked mom for but now I resemble Ringo Star early in his Beatles career. I say that I’m Ringo since I have a funny nose! I like it though!! What are you thinking about doing to your hair?

  52. knownever says:

I’m feeling you with the whole Mercury thing. It has been messing up me and everyone I know for the last month. Supposedly it’s gonna chill out around the 13th…
That didn’t stop me from trimming my hair in the bathroom today though!

Oh, Karen, are you gemini? I look like the thing in Adams Family but astrologyzone let me know I shall go end of may and not earlier! So I listen – and look hideous.
After all I have no idea what kind of haircut I should get and where – take the worldchampion in men’s haircuts (yes, he is here! and he is supposed to be really great) or shall I got to my salon where I go for 5 years now? She is a hell of a good hair-dresser, I just think I am a bit bored.

Last time i got my hair cut was back in december. I wont be going back there it cost me £35 fo a cut and blow dry. No wonder the salon is so quite.

I really need to get another cut my layers will be a mess and my fringe needs cutting, its getting in my eyes. I also need to dye my hair,i can see grey. But i do that myself, cant afford salon prices .

Got to love tabs getting in on the picture lol.

  55. Courtney says:

At the beginning of the semester… sooo…. 3 monthes?
But it feels like longerrrr D:

  56. Lucy says:

I got my last haircut in March, and I desperately need another one. For some reason, it seems like my bangs and my top layers grow 3x faster than my bottom layers, so it’s starting to look a little funky. I’ve had to trim it all myself until I can get to a proper salon D:

Some people also follow the Lunar calendar when to cut their hair. It’s been a long time maybe about 2 years now.

  60. Jennifer says:

November 2009. I used to go religiously every 6 weeks for a cut and partial highlight. But at $140 each trip, it was getting to be too expensive. My hairdresser even called me a couple of weeks ago to make sure I was okay! And, I’ve recently discovered that I have gray hair at age 27….boo!

Being unemployed definitely does not make me plan on going anytime soon!! 🙁
