It wasn’t billed as a rematch, but Sunday’s Emmy Awards pit two of TV’s most kick-@ss lady cops together for the FIFTH time in a row in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series — LAW & Order: SVU’s Detective Olivia Benson, played by my girl Mariska Hargitay, and The Closer’s Deputy Chief Brenda Johnson, played by Kyra Sedgwick — and this time Kyra came out on top (Mariska won it in 2006).
It was good to see Kyra finally get the win. I’ve always liked her (and her hair!). Shoot, it’s about time homegirl got an Emmy to put on top of ye olde fireplace mantle. Fifth time’s the charm! 🙂

Curls never get any love in these polls. So I vote for them on principle. 😉
Karen says
Thanks for giving the curly girls love, WOO HOO!
Nina says
She is so bad@ss in The Closer!
Karen says
Totally! I love that show. 🙂
Trisha says
I’m going with #6, followed closely by #4. And apparently, judging by the numbers, a lot of people disagree with me.
Karen says
I really like her bangs in #6. I wish mine would do that!
gio says
She is beautiful! I love #5 and #3.
Karen says
She really is. 😀

I had to choose between 3, 5 and 8 but I chose 3. I love her. She’s amazing on The Closer and deserved that Emmy. I love Mariska, too but Kyra is on the better show with a more dynamic character.
Karen says
I’m so glad she finally won! It’s about time.
Faye says
She looks gorgeous in all of them. I love Kyra and The Closer – so glad she finally won!
Karen says
Me too. She’s such as @ss kicker in the show!
Kim says
I love Kyra’s hair – she has the best curls! 🙂
I think Trisha and I are usually on the same hairstyle-choosing wavelength. We’re usually in the minority though. 🙂

Speaking of curly… has anyone here watched Singles* yet? That was the first movie I’ve seen Kyra Sedgwick in – her hair there was totally wild and wavy, in a Julia Roberts kind of way. If I had curly hair, I’d want it to look like that… which is why I voted for #1. 🙁
*This movie, BTW, is one of my favorites from the early ’90s – although it’s less for the fond memories of grunge-era Seattle (Eddie Vedder has a cameo) and more for the relationship storylines, especially the one between Kyra and Cameron Scott. The soundtrack rocks, too.
