I know it doesn’t officially turn summer until next month, but even unofficially, it doesn’t seem like summer until I get a Guerlain bronzer up in the mix.
There are so many good bronzers out there, but when I think of flawless, natural-looking, old-school, tried-and-true classic summer bronzing, Guerlain is the godmother of them all.
Oh! — speaking of good bronzers, though, the new bronzers from Hourglass are so dang beautiful, as are BECCA’s, and Marc Jacobs did one recently that’s perfection on light skin.
Every year Guerlain releases limited edition versions of their powder bronzers, and every year I await them with bated breath. This week I tried one from their new summer 2017 collection called Sun Tonic Brunettes.
Ah… Excuse me while I smoosh my nose into the pan. I’m getting a whiff of it right meow, and it smells SO good.
Guerlain usually gives their bronzers a tiare flower scent, but this one smells a little different. I still get strong tiare flower notes, but there’s also some jasmine up in there. I love it.
I don’t like that Sun Tonic is $53, but Guerlain does bronzers like nobody else. When I want natural bronze warmth, but I don’t want too much orange, I turn to Guerlain’s golden bronze. Their bronzers also lean slightly warm, whereas the Marc Jacobs coconut one, as an example, which is also golden bronze, is color temp-wise a true neutral.
Sun Tonic does have some orange in it, but it’s miles and kilometers away from Oompa Loompa-ville. It’s crazy flattering on warm-toned skin.
Like many Guerlain bronzers, Sun Tonic is also matte. The powder also applies and blends seamlessly. I can’t even tell where my skin stops and the bronzer begins. If you’re a bronzing buff, you have to try a Guerlain bronzer at least once. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.
By the way, I’m wearing Sun Tonic with Orange Peps, which is one of the LE Kiss Kiss Lipsticks in the summer collection (there’s also a bright pink LE one called Pink Sunrise).
Have you tried the Kiss Kiss Lipsticks before? I think they’re great — light, creamy, moisturizing and long-lasting, too. Orange Pep lasts from right after my morning coffee, all the way till lunch, so about four hours, which is pretty good. It’s $37 a tube and smells and tastes a little like rose-flavored hard candies.

I love the scent of jasmine. When I was younger, we had a jasmine bush growing in our garden, and I remember summer days being filled with the scent of jasmine. It takes me back to those days whenever I smell it.

Good god you a total babe babe in that first pic!! I’ve never had a kiss kiss lippie, always opting for the rouge g or the rouge automatiques. Time to change that!

It’s the hat… I don’t know why, but it’s so much easier to take pics when you have props!
LOL
Anyway, the Kiss Kiss lipsticks are so comfy. They have a pink one that I love, but I lost it a while back. 🙁

Thanks, Lisa! The magic’s in the makeup, LOL! I mixed Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint with Urban Decay Naked Skin and added a few drops of Make Up For Ever HD Concealer. 🙂 I wish my face looked like that when I woke up, OMG!
What’s your current fave foundation these days?
