The Palm Beach-themed nail polishes in the Essie Spring 2016 nail polish collection have all the right moves for a tropical vacation, and I’m loving every shade! When I think of springtime colors, pastel shades come to mind, so I like that there are some super-saturated, unexpected colors in this six-piece release.
High Class Affair, the peachy nude, is my favorite of the collection. I love that it’s neutral but has juuust enough blush to be interesting.
I really think bright pink Lounge Lover would also be beautiful as a blush or a lipstick (Essie, are you listening?).
I’ve seen lots of reddish orange nail polishes, but I don’t see many that are straight-up orange like Sunshine State of Mind. It’s such a fun color, and it’ll be so cute on toes!
Pool Side Service is such a unique blue. It’s bright, but it isn’t neon bright, and I think it’s a nice counterpoint to all of the warm colors in the collection.
Shades On, an amped up cool-toned purple, is another really unique color. I usually see lots of pale lavenders and deep, vampy purples around, but Shades On is neither. I like that it’s, you know, different.
And Off Tropic seems completely unexpected for a spring collection, but I am all the way here for it! It’s perfect for a tropical, Palm Beach theme, and it’s a nice change from the softer colors we usually see for spring.
In terms of quality and wear time, these perform like Essie polishes usually do for me, which is about three days without chipping (I’m very hard on my nails). All of them apply opaque with one coat, but High Class Affair and Lounge Lover are streaky until I add a second coat. Then they’re completely smooth.
High Class Affair is my favorite one here because I’d get the most wear out of it, but Pool Side Service wins for “Most Interesting Color.”
What do you think? Do you like more traditional pastels this time of year, or will you try different shades?
