They didn’t last very long, unfortunately… just three days! At least I got to enjoy them for a little bit. Reply Stephie says: June 16th, 2009 at 6:33 pm Aw. Beautiful. The tulips look lovely. What a sweetie for El Hub to get you 2 bouquets. Reply Karen says: June 17th, 2009 at 7:36 am Hi Stephie, 🙂 I love tulips! They always look so cheerful. Reply Kristin says: June 16th, 2009 at 7:02 pm They are beautiful. Reply Karen says: June 17th, 2009 at 7:37 am Hi Kristin, There’s nothing like flowers to brighten your day, right? Reply Paris B says: June 16th, 2009 at 7:04 pm Ooh they’re beautiful! Sometimes keeping them in a vase of cold/iced water helps prolong the life if its warm 🙂 .-= Paris B’s last blog post… Upcoming: Lancome Oscillation Powerbooster Mascara Primer =-. Reply Karen says: June 17th, 2009 at 7:37 am Hi Paris B., I will try that trick next time! Reply Kate & Zena says: June 16th, 2009 at 9:24 pm Your irises only last three days, Karen? Wow. I can usually keep an iris bouquet alive for two weeks. Have you tried keeping them in luke warm water and not cold water? I keep all my bouquets (when I get them, of course) in lukewarm or slightly warmer water and away from sunlight really and it works like a charm. It keeps daisies alive for a month. This is, of course, coming from someone who hasn’t a shred of gardener genes. I’m notorious for killing plants. Okay, I lie. I can manage to keep bamboo alive. I fear my 3-year-old bonsai is dead though. I seem to have a knack for keeping bouquets alive. Isn’t that strange? I can keep cut flowers alive for a month (rarely more) yet I can’t keep a potted plant or flower alive? I need to work on my bonsai and see if I can’t save it. Maybe it needs some sunlight? I have no idea! Reply Karen says: June 17th, 2009 at 7:39 am Hi Kate & Zena, I’ve had them for longer… this particular bouquet went really fast. Bamboo is really pretty if you can keep it in a pot and not let it get out of control. I haven’t had a bonsai but my dad has a few and they always seem to do better in the shade… Reply Glosslizard says: June 17th, 2009 at 7:40 am Good kitty! Hope you had a great birthday 🙂 Reply Karen says: June 17th, 2009 at 1:14 pm Hi Michelle! It’s been a while. 🙂 It was a really nice birthday and I enjoyed every minute of it. How have you been? Is work going okay? Reply Kate & Zena says: June 17th, 2009 at 12:11 pm I’ve been keeping my bonsai in the shade like always. It, just, seems to be dying. I’m hoping it’ll bounce back. Reply Karen says: June 17th, 2009 at 1:08 pm Hi Kate & Zena, Hmm, maybe it’s a question of watering. How often are you doing it? Sometimes adjusting your plant’s water schedule can make a world of difference, because some like to dry out first. Reply Kate & Zena says: June 17th, 2009 at 1:58 pm I’ve been watering it once a week. I’m thinking it’s dying from the weather here. By now we’re in the high 70s, 80s and possibly low 90s and it’s a little drier (good ol’ Midwest summer). It’s been humid, rainy and cool here all season (low 60s, mid 70s, rarely high 70s and low 80s). It’s truly bizarre. I’ll figure it out. Reply Ann says: June 17th, 2009 at 7:47 pm beautiful!!
