A few recent revelations…
1. Wearing opaque white lipgloss makes me feel like I have four rows of teeth.
One, two, three, four. FOUR ROWS OF TEETH! When I wear this gloss and look in the mirror, I see a mythological Greek beast staring back at me.
2. Kissing my cat these days is a seriously sketchy endeavor.
OK, I just realized how weird “kissing my cat” sounds. Haha!
Anyway, he’ll go from kissy-kissy-lovie-dovie to “Molly, you in danger, girl…from my claw! And I’m gonna stick it in your iris if you don’t get the-eff-out of my space!” in less than a second.
He was fine with me taking pics of us together…until he wasn’t. Right after the purple gloss (yup, Katy Kat again), he bit my nose full force, and it wasn’t even a love bite, either. It was a bite that said, “Woman. If you wanna retain the use of your eyes, get away, because I don’t want anything to do with you up in my face.”
I tried to show him who’s boss, but clearly…
3. The Katy Kat Glosses are like the MAC Vamplify-s
Do you remember the MAC Vamplify collection? The Vamplify lipglosses are intensely pigmented like a liquid lipstick but have the weight and shine of a gloss. I like ’em, and I like these too.
The major difference between them is that the Katy Kats take longer to settle down. Like, the Vamplify glosses look like shiny patent leather from the get-go, but the Katy Kats take a couple of lip smacks (don’t worry, they aren’t sticky) to get to that point. They’re also a bit patchy at first, but if you give ’em a minute, they’ll get there.
Fave shade: Ninth Life! A cool red. When the shiny part fades, it leaves behind a faint red tint.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Happy hump day! 🙂
Tatiana says
OMGosh! The packaging on those is so cute. Ninth Life is such a good red. That would be my ‘go-to” color, too.
Tabs is such a handsome model.
Karen says
It’s even cuter in person! I love the little ears on the cats, especially (I’m such a cat lady, ha!).
I’m hoping you can get your hands on Ninth Life, because it’s sooo much better than the Peacock Flare mascara we were talking about the other day.
Shari says
Your purple Le Creuset is on HauteLook today!!
Karen says
Girl, did you get anything? I couldn’t bring myself to go to the site because I knew I would GO THERE. I have to buy a new pair of running shoes so I can’t, ahhh!
Christina says
Aww, I love Tabs, and I think you look really nice in some of these shades. What have you been wearing as your base lately because you look really fresh, smooth, and radiant.
Karen says
Hi Christina,
LOL… Are you asking me or Tabs?! If you’re asking me (and I hope so), I’ve been mixing a few things: NARS Velvet Matte, MAC Face & Body and either MAC Pinklite Strobe Cream or BECCA Backlight Primer. I always, always top it with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder, and most of the time (when I remember it), use a primer — Urban Decay’s Urban Defense.
Christina says
Haha! Yeah, I was asking you. LOL! But Tabs…err…you’re looking radiant as well. Look at those glossy eyes and shiny coat. LOL!
Thanks for the tips! I have to try Mineralize Skinfinish as a finishing powder and not just a highlighter since you rave about it so much.
Karen says
Yes! I use the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Pressed — they’re the skin-tone shades in the MSF line!
Sarah Lowes says
Tabs’ coat is so gorgeous…..
Karen says
Hi Sarah,
He adheres to a rigorous schedule of napping to keep it that glossy! That’s the secret, shhhh… Don’t tell.
Suzanne C says
I don’t like cats or lip gloss, but still… so cute!
Now that she’s getting older, our dog is like Tabs. “I love you so much!” “Touch me and I’ll cut you.”
CL says
That might mean your dog is in pain.
Karen says
Haha, Suzanne! What’s your dog’s name again? I’m sorry if I’ve asked before.
Suzanne C says
Her name is Julia. Or, as my two smallest nieces say, Ju-wa. 🙂
The vet says she has a bit of arthritis, which makes her snappy sometimes.
Karen says
Aww, sweet Ju-Wa! Lucky for your nieces to have a doggie friend to spend time with. That’s always so special!
LindaLibraLoca says
The packaging is adorable, just on the right side of too tacky.
Karen says
Aww, I don’t think it’s tacky at all. I think it’s super cute!

Speaking of cats being essential death traps, I think you’ll like this comic: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1867289136624056&id=640010012685314
Karen says
Hi Chris,
Haha! That comic is so true!
Rachel says
“Molly…you in danger, girl!” Lol!!!!
I think I have to get one of those just for the packaging!!! So cute!!!!
Karen says
LOL, I’m glad you got the ref, Rachel! It’s my fave line from Ghost. 🙂
May I suggest Tabby Tease? I’m not just saying that because I have a tabby either! It’s one of the most wearable ones. But if you wanna go bold definitely check out Ninth Life.
Rachel says
Thanks for the recommendation! I was going to go for a more neutral color and Tabby Tease looks pretty!
Karen says
It takes a minute or two for it to settle in (there’s a slight gold shimmer in it), but after it does it’s super pretty. I also like these because they’re not drying at all. 🙂
Happy Thursday! I’m seriously counting down the seconds until Fri-yay.
CL says
I’ve heard that about cats – they’ll act like they love your attention, then they’ll bite or scratch you when they get tired of it. I haven’t had a cat since I was 9, so I don’t remember that from personal experience. My dog would never have hurt me unless I accidentally hurt him. If an older dog starts acting like petting him makes him mad, it’s because he’s sick or injured in some way.
Karen says
Cats are super moody, and Tabs is less patient now that he’s older (but aren’t we all, haha!).
