Brace yourself, but Benefit’s releasing a new line of long-wearing lipglosses.
KABAM!
It’s true. Sometime over the next few months, Benefit will unveil a brand new line of eight lipglosses to replace both of their current lines, The Gloss and Her Glossiness.

Say what?!?

The new glosses will feature a new, stickier, long-wearing formula with a shimmery finish, and they’ll come with an oversized applicator wand with a paddle-shaped sponge tip.

The wand has a little bend to it and gives under pressure, helping to maximize comfort when it’s used.

I’ve previewed one of the new shades, Almost Famous. It’s a shimmery copper with golden pearl and reminds me of a shinier, thicker version of Benefit’s spring 2009 limited edition lipstick, Thrillin’ Brazilian.

I’m always down for new lipglosses, but I freaked out when I heard that Benefit plans to discontinue The Gloss. I’ve been wearing Kiss Me (a clear fuchsia) for years.

I can’t bear the thought of living without it, LOL! Just kidding, sort of…

Thankfully, Benefit plans to include a new formulation of Kiss Me and versions of two other colors from the current lines in the upcoming collection.

Expect to see Kiss Me (which returns under the name, Kiss You), Life on the A List (a light pink) and Who Are You Wearing (a hot pink) come back for encore presentations.

The new glosses are *so* new that I have yet to see any official information on release dates, prices or purchase locations, but I’ll keep you posted.

Dinner through a straw — classy

I just got back from the dentist, YEA!

Now I’m numbed the EFF OUT! I can’t feel my nose, and when I smile only the left side of my mouth moves. Needless to say, I’m drinking dinner through a straw and mumbling my words.

Good times…

I managed to refrain from crying this time, though. I teared up just a little, and then my dentist encouraged me to visualize something I enjoy (surfing) and guided me through some deep breathing exercises.

I’m such a wuss.

I should say, “Hum thuth a wuth.” :)

Ugh. Don’t worry about the post dental suffering Karen. I think we can all empathize with you. At least you’re not slobbering too much right?

Those l/g looks pretty promising. This shade reminds me of the MAC l/g from the Honey collection you reviewed earlier. I’ve been pretty hung up on nude lips but bronze lipgloss sounds interesting. My upper lip is quite dark though so bronze lips might just kill me :P

hi :) i heard benefit was discontinuing their old glosses, so it’s great to have an update! that gloss looks amazing! i was wondering, how do the new benefit glosses compare to stila’s lipglazes? if they are comparable, i will save $$$ for the new benefit glosses and try not to splurge on stila’s new lipglazes from their indian summer collection :)

I just twittered about this. Kiss You is my absolute favourite shade of gloss in the history of lip gloss. I’m dying on the inside. Her Glossiness is such a rad formula. I can’t wait to see the new glosses, though – the wand looks way awesome.

    Karen,
Sucks when a fav is discontinued….I can relate! Love the sunflowers in the banner with the Tabs sketch. I’m from Kansas (it’s our state flower) and I just love ‘em!!

*whew* I thought I was going to have to go out and buy a dozen Kiss Me glosses!!! I looooove that gloss, it was one of my first Benefit items and I’ve bought it repeatedly since high school. It would be a shame to get rid of it completely. But, I’m happy to read that it will still be here in some form!

I knew they were revamping their glosses when i could no longer find them on their website. Hope these are more moisturizing. The tubes aren’t awfully long are they?

Can’t wait to check this out once they launch – Lord knows I need another lipgloss to throw in the bottom of my purse, never to be found again! :)

I just got 2 of the Bare Minerals’ Buxom lipglosses and LOVE them! I’m not a fan of anything else in their line, but these are great lipglosses… check them out!

I feel you Karen. I had dental work done for 2 wks in a row and it was not fun. When I was a kid though, my reward for going to the dentist without a fuss was ice cream … and I claimed that reward again this time around. :-D Take care and get better! The lipglosses are purttyy!!! :-)

Benefit’s products come back with a new lovely packaging, a second youth for them. But I (secretly) hope they will smell better than the olders. ^^

Girl, trust me on this one — going to the dentist isn’t fun for anyone. Especially for me. I’ve had braces, had a 3hr cleaning last month, and I need to get braces on my bottom teeth again. Any dental work is just plain scary. They’re all up in your face, diggin’ in there with metal shit. Ugh. Me no likey.

I always have them numb me, even if I’m sure it’ll only hurt a LITTLE bit. I just hate the sound of drilling and the possibility of them slipping and cutting my gums or something.

  13. 13. tanya said, on May 28th, 2009:

aww, I’m sure it will get better, my dear :-) In the meantime, it gives you a good excuse to be super lazy and have everyone dote on you!

    hi karen

hope you are feeling better – dental visits suck!

i am such a fan of kiss me!

these look really cool though i have indulged in many new glossimers from chanel this past week – yes i am bad!!

i am excited to see their new relaunches!

  15. 15. Glosslizard said, on May 28th, 2009:

I’m intrigued, I never liked the Benefit gloss formula because it was so thin! Maybe I will be charmed anew by this sassy line!

Oooooooohhhh, I feel for you, I HATE that numbin’ feeling! At least you can still key without mumbling!

  16. 16. Karen said, on May 28th, 2009:

    Hi Glosslizard,

This one definitely felt thicker and sticker, and it also looked more pigmented. I have high hopes. :)

The numbing feeling has disappeared, thank goodness, but now has been replaced by a dull ache. All I have to say is YAY for Advil!

What are you up to today? I really wanted to run outside but it’s so gloomy out.

    Hi Yadi,

YES! Did you get Venus? I hope so. :)

I prefer minimal glitter… I hope they come out with Matte colors!

  19. 19. Rachel said, on May 28th, 2009:

Aww yuck, I hate the dentist. In fact, I hate the dental hygenist worse, when she is prodding my gums with those metal tools. The last time I used some numbing stuff on my gums, but I still felt it.

  20. 20. Stef said, on May 28th, 2009:

Ooo-wee, that’s pretty. Between that and MAC buzz it’s going to be a bronzey lip summer. Yay, summer! Yay, lip gloss!

    Hi Stef,

    Girlfriend, I hear that.

I could do bronze all year long, LE SIGH!

  22. 22. Karen said, on May 28th, 2009:

    Hi Rachel,

Those metal hooks are the WORST. I hate seeing them out of the corner of my eye… I should bring in a blindfold or something.

When I went in yesterday I got numbed AND a couple of shots and I could still feel it. BOO to scary dental pain!

  23. 23. Karen said, on May 28th, 2009:

    Hi Ann,

I asked and it turns out all the colors will have shimmer. They won’t all have the same degree of shimmer though. The new version of Kiss Me will have just the slightest touch so it will still be similar to the original color.

  24. 24. Stacie said, on May 28th, 2009:

I’m liking what I see so far! I’ve never tried Benefit’s glosses before, but I have a few lipsticks. I like the look of that color–it is similar to Thrillin’ Brazilian, which is a great color, if perhaps a bit dark for me. Oh, and Karen, I feel your pain. Going to the dentist is like torture!

  25. 25. Ruth said, on May 28th, 2009:

    OMG I can’t wait. I collect sticky long lasting glosses, ~~~~~~~~~~~WOO HOO~~~~~~~~~~

  26. 26. hm said, on May 29th, 2009:

You should ask if you dentist can clean your teeth with a waterlase (sp?) next time, if they carry one. It’s like an uber waterpik and it uses a thin high pressure jet of water to knock the plaque off the teeth. It’s much more comfortable then the traditional method of scraping with a metal hook. You’ll get spritzed with some water, but I would take that over a sore and numb mouth any day.
