New in Beauty, Jan. 17: Stila Can Couture and Estee Lauder Love Your Lips

Published in: Makeup, News

Greetings from cold and wet Northern California, ladies. :) What are you up to? I was a little beat from my afternoon in San Francisco yesterday, so I kinda slept in. It’s amazing what a few extra hours of sleep will do, though… I *almost* feel like a real girl, LOL!

Lunch with the girls yesterday in the city was fun. We met at La Mar, a Peruvian restaurant near the Ferry Building with LOTS of great seafood and fancy presentation.

I’d never had Peruvian food before and didn’t know what to expect. I went in thinking it would be hotter but was glad it wasn’t (I’m a wuss when it comes to hot food). They had this Peruvian corn which I’ll never forget. It tasted like regular corn but with GIGANTIC kernels the size of grapes!

The restaurant’s a little shoo-shoo/foo-foo ($$$$), and El Hub definitely would have complained about the smallish portions, but if you’re ever in the area it might be worth it to try something new.

Speaking of new things, here’s a look around the worlds of makeup and beauty:

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I looked at the site for the restaurant and it looks really nice. I bet it’s great in the summer time when the sun is out. definitely one to save for a special occasion.

  2. I just remembered, when i saw your post, that I used to use Stila’s Convertible Color! I used in while in college because I felt it was natural and multipurpose.

Its funny how hispanic/latino food is so expensive in other places of our country! Let me know next time you are in Miami… I can tell all about our mom & pop places… :)

Sparkle strands… cute, but tacky on a day-to-day basis. Would kick some nard at a rave or a club, or like halloween/new years, but other than that.. tackity.

I have tried Peruvian food before and it was tasty. Too bad the restaurant closed because that was the only Peruvian restaurant in the city.

I have the OPI Absolutely Alice on my twinkling toes as we speak! I got pretty good coverage from 2 coats, although it tries to get a bit “streaky” Makes me smile when I look at it, I think I’m going back for Mad as a Hatter.

    Sephora’s Sparkle Strands=TACKY!
Love the Tarte pallete though and also the OPI polishes. Anything Alice in Wonderland inspired is awesome, including the Urban Decay new book of shadows!

I am having a major love affair with Stila eyeshadows these days. For some reason, I find them so easy to blend and I love the luminous look it gives to my peepers.

So that Stila Can Couture is love for me!!!

  13. Tiffany says:

    LOVE these types of posts!

I just got the OPI mad as a hatter polish. It kinda reminded me of the Lippman happy birthday polish you reviewed. I also have had my eye on those Givenchy lip markers – I wonder if they are any good?

  14. Amber says:

I have tried that Boscia cleansing oil. It worked okay, but I didn’t think it was anything special. I like Nude Skincare’s facial cleansing oil much better — it smells AMAZING.
