The Benefit Dandelion Collection for Spring 2016: Pretty in Pink

March 24th, 2016 by Anna Oh 27 Comments

Hi, everyone!

As one of the prettiest (in my opinion) collections of spring 2016, the Benefit Dandelion Collection is an expansion of Benefit’s bestselling Dandelion Brightening Finishing Powder ($29), with the new Dandelion Shy Beam Liquid Highlighter ($26) and Dandelion Dew Liquid Blush ($28).

This is a small and concise collection with every product layering on top of each other to create a beautiful and brightening flush.

The two new collection items: Benefit Shy Beam and Dandelion Dew

An overview of the collection:

  • Dandelion Dew Liquid Blush ($28). A sheer and dewy baby-pink liquid blush. During my initial swatch, I didn’t find the blush to be sheer at all and only a little dewy. I LOVE the pump.
  • Dandelion Shy Beam Matte Highlighter ($26). A nude-pink matte highlighter. On my yellow skin tone, the product’s pink shade looks really strong…chalky even. Benefit uses this product on Asian models on their website and Sephora video though. I’d love your opinion on this one, guys! It may just be user-error.
  • Dandelion Box o’ Powder Blush ($29). A pale-pink highlighting blush and powder. While it didn’t work on me as an all-over powder, the powder was a classically pretty blush. Love.

Hope you enjoyed this overview and first impressions! So, what do you think about Dandelion? (Both the Benefit ones and the flower.)

See you in the next,

Anna

That Ana is an illustrator is evident from the beautiful photos. I always wanted to pick up something from Benefit ( as and when I get access) and Highbeam was on my list. Looks like I have to be chasing dandelions now.

That is very pretty! I like how it doesn’t scream “makeup”! A good work-safe, very pretty look!

There’s always something simplistic & minimalistc about your look that just screams elegance! I think you wear these VERY well. Well done!! 🙂

The Dandelion Box o’ Powder Blush is one of my staples. I wear it all over my face daily (except for in the summer when I wear bronzer). It’s nice to see Benefit expanded Dandelion!

I love the flowers, but this seems to be way too sheer for my liking. The thing I feel is the prettiest here is your inspired eye look.

I’ve purchased this liquid blush on a whim but I’m so glad that I did. I agree that I don’t think it’s very sheer but disagree with the pump. I find the one pump is too much product for both cheeks. I would like to see Benefit package this more similar to when they changed Stay Don’t Stray from a pump to a wand. I really like how natural this blush looks and how easily it blends in. I haven’t tried the highlighter.

Ah yes…it is way too easy to waste product with the pump! It’s almost like a foundation pump eek!

I like the side using the Dandelion products! Looks more matte to me. I’m a light yellow complexed African American woman and a lot of products geared to Asian women look good on me as well.I don’t use any Benefit products except the brow zing, which I really like. I’ll check out the brightening powder in store! Love you’re eye and lip look!!

Thanks Denise! I’ve always been attracted to Benefit’s lineup but never got around to trying it out So many items are cult-status now. I want to try out Brow Zing too!

I like it on you. Could be my color settings on my mac though. It doesn’t look chalky. Brightened though.

I got a deluxe sample of the Shy Beam from Sephora and I really like it because it’s quite peachy. The true pink stuff isn’t great on me (redhead, freckled, fair)

I love this look, Anna. I saw shy beam in Sephora a few days ago and thought it was a good move to add a matte highlight to the line. I don’t think it looks chalky on you at all! The whole look on you gives you a smooth, natural glow, with just a hint of glam in your eye makeup. 🙂

It doesn’t read chalky on my iPad. Although it is pretty on you, I think I would prefer to see you in an orange or coral shade. I too have yellow tones. I find even a subtle orange or coral gives me a little more oomph.

I ALWAYS gravitate to coral (orange…even better >D) EVERYTHING too! It’s my favorite color on top of it all. I heard pink-tones “pop” more on yellow skin tones though. Maybe that’s what is affecting my judgement haha.

I agree with what others have said here. It could just be my screen settings, but the Benefit side doesn’t look chalky to me at all. I love this whole look!

Thank ya Chris! I may not be used to pink-toned makeup then 🙂 But so far I’ll keep it as a “yes!”
