Calling all blushing beauties and buffs! — Buxom plans to introduce a new collection of colorful cheek products into their permanent line. The new True Hue family arrives in February, bursting with bold pigments and, according to Buxom, the powers of a plant called rhodiola.
Buxom claims that the plant, used for centuries by people in Russia and Scandinavia to cope with the stress and cold of Siberian life, makes cheeks wearing the True Hue blushes appear refreshed, but I’d probably give these pigments more credit for that. I find them very easy to manipulate, thanks to super smooth powders that are a breeze to build up or sheer down.
This particular blush buff wholeheartedly approves. 🙂
Breathless
Euphoria
Tryst
Swept Away
Rendezvous
Luvitate
Seduction
Shangri-la-la
Swatches from the left: Breathless, Euphoria, Luvitate and Rendezvous
From the left: Seduction, Shangri-La-La, Swept Away and Tryst
I just started testing these today, so these are first impressions, but for what it’s worth, I applied Seduction this morning at 9, and at 3 p.m. it was still going strong. That’s not bad at all, and while these are rather expensive for a blush (approaching NARS territory), you do get a lot of product in each pan, and it looks like there’s a great deal of quality here.
PRICE: $24 each
AVAILABILITY: Coming in February to Sephora stores and also online
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A (tentatively for now)
I’ll post some face shots showing these in action over the next few days. I’d planned to do it today, but to be honest, I look and feel pretty terrible right now. I had a bad bout of insomnia last night (worried about getting everything done in time for the holidays) that fired up my dark circles, and they’re about 1 million miles from cute. 🙁
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Naomi says
I agree with Marian!
Puffnstuff says
Ooh! I like euphoria, tryst and luvitate! Awesome.
Anna says
Euphoria and Tryst!! My goodness. I hope I get some Sephora gift cards for Christmas…
Valerie says
I want Euphoria, Luvitate, and Tryst. All these swatches look amazing!
Luvitate reminds me of NARS Nico.
Euphoria looks like Taj Mahal crossed with Taos.
I will pick up a couple of these for sure.
gio says
They all look beautiful, especially Rendezvous!
Marina says
They all are pretty but I think I like Euphoria and Tryst the best!
Karen says
Euphoria is so pretty!
Sonya says
These are SO adorable, and the colors are lovely! I wish they were a bit cheaper, though..
Karen says
Hi Sonya,
I hear ya. The pans are HUGE, though, which makes the price a little easier to bear.
Jennifer says
I must get Euphoria.
Karen says
Love that color!
Nina says
they are all so pretty! i think you may have just sparked a new blush obsession! 🙂
hang in there … it all works out in the end, so dont wear yourself out w/ worry! <3
Karen says
Thanks, Nina. I kinda miss the days when all I had to do for Christmas was roll out of bed, walk down the hallway to the kitchen, eat and then open presents. When did it get so complicated?
Anywho, hope things at work are mellow today for ya.
Nina says
i guess “growing up” (note the quotation marks!) makes things a bit harder … 🙂
my boss is a brat — he had knee surgery last week and was told to rest this week — guess what, he showed up at the office yesterday. he’s here again today too. its a bit tense since he’s in pain and a bit short-tempered. 😀
butttt im leaving work early tomorrow and off to the inlaws i go! so it can be all that bad!
Karen says
It does. The funny thing is, for most of my 20s and early 30s I never quite felt like a real grown up. It’s only been in the last three or four years where I’ve started to feel like a “real adult” (quote, unquote). Ahh growing pains… I guess this is what chocolate is for. 🙂
Will you guys be flying/driving to visit the in-laws?
Nina says
we are driving out thursday afternoon!
i went to a nearby japanese wasteland (what i call places that sell trinkets …) during my lunch hour and picked up a bag of matcha green tea chocolates. zomg so good!
Sunny says
Ahhh this CAN’T be happening! JUST when I thought I’m about done in the blush department because I have managed to get some Tarte and Cargo! Just kidding. It’s always good news when good products hit the market.
Try not to worry too much about the holidays! Have you tried Celestial Seasonings’ sleepytime extra? I personally can’t drink anything with valerian in it, because I won’t be able to wake up before midday the next morning. But if you have insomnia you should try!
Karen says
You can never have enough blushes, Sunny! 🙂
Love Tarte and Cargo blushes, btw.
And yes, I’ve had that particular tea. I sometimes even put two teabags in the mug so I can get knocked out!
Julie says
These look stunning, especially Rendezvous! I’ve been loving bright blushes to give that ‘winter flush’ look and this color looks gorgeous!
Karen says
Me too! I’ve been really into pink and reds lately. What are your favorite bright blushes?
Katy says
I love how fine the powder looks and the colors are beautiful! No stressing Karen!! We don’t want you to turn into a Brattasaures Rex do we??? 😉
Karen says
LOL, Katy! 🙂 I’m trying to keep the Brattasaurus Rex in check… it’s tough when the monster wants to come out and play!
I’m feeling much better today. I went to bed early last night and managed to catch up on sleep.
How’s your day going so far?
Vonvon says
Wow! All are so pretty! Can’t choose! 😉
Karen says
I know! All the shades are beautiful!
Alison says
Hang in there, Karen! Sending you good vibes!
Karen says
Thanks, Alison. 🙂 I went to bed early last night and caught up on sleep so today I’m feeling much better. How are things going on your end?
Tiffany says
Wow. These blushes are beautiful… I can’t wait for them to arrive in store.
Karen says
Hi Tiffany,
They’re even more gorgeous in person. I think you’ll really like them!
Chris25 says
I like Shangri-la and Euphoria!
Stephanie R says
I understand COMPLETELY about the insomnia and dark circles! I’ve had insomnia for the past couple of nights and it’s awful. It’s a vicious cycle when you try to nap to get caught up too! I’m definitely drinking Sleepytime tea tonight. Or the Sweet Dreams one. Have you ever tried that one? It’s really good.
Kim says
I really like the looks of Tryst but I’m not quite ready for another blush. 🙂 I hope you’re feeling more rested and aren’t stressing about the holidays. It’s the most wonderful time of the year, so just take time to relax with friends and family. No one will remember if you didn’t get to a few things. And, if they do, they should definitely be put on the naughty list. HAHA!
Jessica says
I absolutely love your blog posts! Whoever invented makeup really needs a medal!
So sorry to hear about your insomnia! I have insomnia too, so I know exactly what you mean! My dark circles cry out for corrector when I have a bad night. Have you tried melatonin? Its a vitamin that has really helped me. I like the Spring Valley one the best. Also the Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Tea is a little wonder in a tea bag. Merry Christmas!
Karen says
Yeah they do! And a big scoop of ice cream. 😀
I think I’ve tried melatonin a while back, but I didn’t really take it long enough to notice a difference. I’ve also tried valerian, which seems to help, but I can’t stand the smell. Right now I’m taking 5HTP… I dunno if it’s helping me get to sleep, although I’ve noticed that in the daytime I much less grumpy about getting no Z’s.
Merry Christmas to you too!
Resa says
Euphoria is the one I’m lemming for! I’m still so into peach blushes even though it’s way past summer :)! I’m getting into BB cream now, hopefully it’ll be a HG item 😀
Beautiful Canvas says
Oh I love blushes, these look great! I’ll do a post about this and link them to your page.
Mandy says
These look amazing! Definitely want to check these out when they hit the shelves at my Sephora! 🙂
