Wearing L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Endless Sea
I’ve been kind of feelin’ the spirit lately with my eye makeup, you know, wanting to wear looks with 20 steps involving primer, 10 different shades of eyeshadow, liner (pencil, liquid, gel AND cake) and false lashes. Basically any and all eye makeup I can get my furry little hands on.
SIDE NOTE: And I’m so not kidding about the fur! Here’s what nobody tells you about your dirty thirties: they’re hairy, as in you start noticing hair growing in odd places (LIKE ON YOUR FINGERS), and suddenly questions like, “Is it faux pas for a woman to shave her hands?” cross your mind.
Ahem! Inside voice, Karen.
Right. But what about those days when Tabs is blowing up my phone with “urgent” pet assistant requests, like, “Please alphabetize my gravy cans, thanks!” and I have the inkling, but don’t have the time, to indulge in complicated eye makeup?
Well, there’s always one of the six new L’Oreal Paris Infallible Eye Shadows ($7.95 each). 🙂
Liquid Diamond, Golden Emerald, Endless Sea, Glistening Garnet, Bottomless Java and Smoldering Plum join 12 existing permanent shades in L’Oreal’s faboo Infallible Eye Shadow line of long-wearing, easy-to-blend powder shadows so satiny smooth that they make velvet jealous, and so shimmery that I keep expecting cherubic angels to emerge from the clouds and say, “DAYUM, GINA!”
And did I mention they’re long lasting? Worn with a primer, they cling to my lids for 8-10 hours without creasing.
Endless Sea
Golden Emerald
Glistening Garnet
Smoldering Plum
Liquid Diamond
Bottomless Java
Swatches from the left: Golden Emerald, Endless Sea, Smoldering Plum, Glistening Garnet, Bottomless Java and Liquid Diamond
Big statement eye makeup is a breeze with these. All it takes is just a few swipes.
This morning I blended two layers of Endless Sea, the shimmery teal, on bare lids, concentrating most of the color in my outer V, and then swept a single layer along my lower lash lines to make things POP!
A quick date with a lash curler and two coats of mascara later, and I was ready to tackle Tabs’ latest request to, “Call Channing Tatum’s people, and set a time to discuss the choreography for our new movie.” 🙂
PRICE: $7.95 each
AVAILABILITY: Available now at drugstores and Ulta
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: A- (I notice some minor fallout during application)

lol, nice to see your sense of humor hasn’t changed Karen. No matter what grows where, you’re still beautiful as ever! And wow, can you pull of a bright eye look! I promised myself that I wouldn’t buy anymore of these infallible shadows (I have 8 and have never touched them aside from swatching and testing the wear). But these…these are gorgeous. Love the java one!
Karen says
Hi Becca,
Ooh, what colors do you have?
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
I have Infinite Sky, Iced Latte, Midnight Blue, Eternal Sunshine, Continuous Cocoa, Perpetual Purple, Amber Rush, and Eternal Black. I think they’re really nice quality–especially for a drugstore brand–but I find them a bit difficult to wear, personally. I just feel like it always looks caked on, no matter how little I apply. and it’s not exactly subtle–very metallic. Plus, I thought Eternal Black would at least work to set my liner and add some sparkle, but the fallout was horrible and the glitter kept getting my eyes and scratching my eyeballs all day! lol
Karen says
Hmm…have you tried applying Eternal Black with a wet brush? It might help to get it to stick to your skin a little more.
ansh@VanityNoApologies says
oh i’m in love with these eyeshadows. have 4 of them!
Karen says
Nice! Which shades do you have?
Julia Alkaseltzer says
Eeee! I think I’m going to buy one of these colors since I”ve been hearing wonderful things about these shadows. DAYUM, GINA!!
Fur! Whoa.
Karen says
Seriously, brace yourself. It comes in overnight like a fairy ring.

Ooh, Bottomless Java! *grabby hands* 😛
Kadie says
Is Glistening Garnet a dupe for Urban Decay Last Call? I can’t tell if its a dupe or pinker!
Karen says
Hi Kadie,
They’re similar, but not exact dupes. Last Call is slightly darker and more purple; Glistening Garnet is lighter and more pink. 🙂
antara says
lovely colours karen and i love the way your hair is swept away from your face……i also did same look yesterday night….i dont know why people shy away from blue and bright colours….its such a beautiful shade……
Karen says
Hi Antara,
I love blues too. What are your favorite blue eyeshadows?
musical says
Hear ya’ on the side note…experiencing hairy situations ;). But then, in my case it is my genetics too , not that i am complaining. If it’s any comfort, a LOT of Indian origin girls wax their arms (i don’t, but many of my cousins do), because of the contrast in the skin tone and hair color…
I am leaning towards Bottomless Java (as if I don’t have a cpl. of similar shadows). What’s with me and sticking with similar colors when it comes to buying shadows, lipcolors and liners? :-D.
Love your smile in the last picture! Hugs to you, girlie!
Karen says
Hugs back to you Musical!
I tend to do the same thing with certain colors. I love Bottomless Java too, but why not try something a little out of your comfort zone and wear it around the house just for fun? 🙂 I do that all the time with crazy shades, LOL!
musical says
Good advice :). I’ll wear a different combination today! Happy 4th, bella!
musical says
So I did this 4th July special eye look: blue and red shadows with white sparkle on the brow bone, and it looked cute, and i managed to make it look subtle!!
Olivia says
I LOVE Golden Emerald and Liquid Sea. And the latter looks absolutely amazing on you. They look so pigmented! and almost as shimmery as you’re find in a pigment rather than a caked shadow.
Just beautiful!
Karen says
Hi Olivia,
Me too! Those are perfect summer colors, dontcha think?
Jasmine says
Karen!!
I started getting hair on my fingers in middle school. I felt so self conscious that I shaved them! Now the hair grows funny :'(
Karen says
Hi Jasmine,
I’ve often wondered if I should pluck mine. I guess I probably shouldn’t, huh?
Joyce says
Smoldering Plum and Glistening Garnet will look GORGEOUS together! I’ve tried their other shades and love them, so I will definitely be getting their new ones. =)
Karen says
Hi Joyce,
That would be a super pretty combo!
Ankita@corallista says
Gorgeous! I love the formula and these shades are gorgeous! I can’t wait for these new shades to launch in India!
Karen says
Hi Ankita,
I hope they get there soon!
Advah says
Wow they look almost TOO good in the photos! Love how you’re wearing Endless Sea!
I hear you on the fur bit. I thought I’d finally started taming my eyebrows and other facial hair (and body hair), when I hit the mid-20s and BAM. Facial hair can apparently grow bloody anywhere. Not happy.
Karen says
Hi Advah,
No kidding. I wish somebody would’ve given me the heads up on the chin area. 🙁
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
I’m glad to hear they work for you! I own Purple Obsession (which has been renamed as Perpetual Purple) and Emerald Lame (I THINK it might be Golden Emerald but I’m not dead sure), but even with a primer they fade on me AND creases… It’s a real pity because they’re pretty!
Karen says
That’s too bad!
Nina T says
Karen I love these shadows. Wore the emerald yesterday for the first time and it looked fresh for more than 12 hours! I also have the plum-love it too! Gotta try the other colors though. Diamond and garnet are calling my name!! Hair? OMG at 47 I have to pluck and shave daily now. My 20 year old daughter laughed at my furriness-but she will understand in time!
Karen says
Hi Nina T,
You know what’s the worst? The stiff chin hairs! They seem to pop up out of nowhere!
Emalitsa says
Holy Moly! I think I am about to buy all of these!
Wow they look stunning and Karen your pictures are amazing!
Karen says
Hi Emalitsa,
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. These are great. 🙂
Enjoy the rest of your week!
Julie says
Someone should provide advance warning about the hairy situation. Boy did I find some surprises this year.
Karen says
Hi Julie,
I know, right? And I thought the hairy toes were shocking!
artemis says
oooh, so cute 😀 blue looks pretty on you, Karen! 😀
Karen says
Hi Artemis,
Thanks, my friend! Have a nice day. 🙂
Amanda says
I bought both Endless Sea and Glistening Garnet but I totally missed Bottomless Java. Guess I gotta go back and look for that one!
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
That’s one of my faves in the bunch. It’s great for work looks. 🙂
Hope you’re having a nice day.
Liz says
I love the infallible eyeshadows. I have two of them (not the colors you posted) and they work well. I wore one to a wedding and it lasted all night without creasing. I did use primer, but I always use primer.
Karen says
Hi Liz,
Aren’t they great? Which colors do you have, and what primer do you use? I like NARS. 🙂
Liz says
Hi Karen, I use UPDD. I am planning to try the Nars when this is finished. The infallible colors that I have are Amber Rush and Golden Sage. BTW I’m definitely planning on picking up Smoldering Plum. What an amazing color!

You look amazing! I am loving Endless Sea. I love blue eyeshadows and I think when blended well like yours is they look amazing. I don’t own any of the L’Oreal shadows yet but I think Eternal Sunshine and Endless Sea are calling my name. I love doing eye looks with like 20 eyeshadows it’s so much fun. My latest UD eye concoction is Fishnet all over my lid, Pistol in the crease, AC/DC along my lash lines, and Woodstock in the outer V. For eyeliner I line with the Woodstock Eyeliner first, then will use Bourbon or Perversion over top. It’s an eye look that goes with pretty much anything and has the right amount of shimmer and flashiness! Happy July 4th and your eye looks always inspire me to do different things!
denise says
Happy 4th July Karen! You look great! I brought endless sea last week, that’s the only one I own of these eye shadows. I haven’t used it yet but now I’m going to copy your look! Don’t mention the hairs on my chinny chin chin lol. I pluck them while I’m doing my face, God forbid I’m not able to pluck! I might grow a scraggly beard, lol
mn says
I bought a few of these when they went on sale a couple of wks ago- I’m looking forward to trying them.
The hair thing is a bit annoying I agree. I got a grey eyebrow hair a couple of years ago. At first I thought it was blonde but to my dismay realized it was grey once I put my granny glasses on to look at it. ;P
steph b says
Golden Emerald looks gorgeous! I dunno that I’m comfortable wearing that out, but maybe a sale will coax me into trying it.
Vonvon says
I have 5 of them now. The latest 2 are a light blue similar to Endless Sea and a orangey coral shade, perfect for summer!
Gwen @ Makeup Toys says
I love all the colors here! I think Loreal Infallible is really awesome for the pocket and what you are getting! Can’t wait to get my hands on them!
gabby says
I am gonna try these for sure. I hate being expensive shadows because I don’t normally wear them but these look great. Quick question, what are you wearing on your lips? I love the color and always on the hunt for a great gloss. Thanks
