Lovin’ One Layer of MAC Zoom Fast Black Lash Mascara

I gotta hand it to carnies because that juggling stuff is hard work! 🙂

Simply put, the more tasks and projects I try to juggle at the same time, the harder it becomes to maintain a beauty regimen.

All of the time consumers that come with moving, coupled with my regular work, have sapped much of my time and energy for makeup. By virtue of necessity, I’ve had to resort to a lot of super-minimal makeup looks — filled-in brows, dabs of concealer beneath my eyes and now, thanks to MAC, a single layer of mascara.

It takes mere seconds to apply, but a single layer of MAC’s new Zoom Fast Black Lash ($13) gives lashes a dark glossy black finish and extra length. The outcome’s a quick and easy natural lash look with KICK, and it totally fits with a minimal makeup vibe.

If you’re looking for a go-to mascara that adds length and a vibrant, inky black finish yet won’t look totally fake on your lashes, then consider giving MAC’s $13 Zoom Fast Black Lash a try.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. If you’re on the hunt for a new mascara but aren’t moved by this one, Walgreens has a $5 off $25 printable coupon (Yea for drugstore makeup!). Good today and tomorrow only (9/29 – 9/30).

I picked this up last Saturday — holy cow — it gave me such dramatic long, curled lashes. I was having a demo done and I was going to ask the MUA to apply false lashes. Honestly, I loved my lashes with this mascara so much that I bought the mascara and decided against the falsies 🙂 Great product!

      Hi Michelle,

Yay! I’m glad to hear you love it too. Did you pick anything else up during your demo?

Im so lazy when it comes to mascara — which is not a good thing since I dont really have a lot of lashes. I must try this … maybe it will make me want to put mascara on instead of avoiding it like the plague!!!

Have a great day, Karen. Feels like fall in Houston today!

      Hi Nina,

It feels like fall here too. It’s starting to get cold at night, and now I need an extra blanket on the bed!

Do you guys get falling autumn leaves and the whole nine yards?

Unfortunately, I hate this stuff. It turns my lashes into a wet, clumpy, spidery mess. It’s a shame, too, cause I like the extra-black hue…but can’t deal with how terrible it looks.

      Hi Kristen,

How many layers did you use? I find that one layer all over the lashes plus a few extra swipes along the outer lashes is enough. Anything beyond that tends to push it…

I love the sound of this, I’ll definitely try it out when it releases here. Actually, now that I think of it, I’ve never tried a MAC mascara…I like testing products beforehand, and testing a mascara is a great NO for me! Anyway, have a great day! Good luck with the projects, soon you’ll be able to rest at your new casa =)

      Hi Marce,

Yeah, I get grossed out by mascara testers too!

How are you doing? Is school going well?

Karen : We get the falling leaves but not the colours. Mostly the leaves just turn brown and fall off the tree… 😀

    Thats TX for you!

      Hi Nina,

Nor Cal is more or less the same, as our weather is pretty mild! One year I went to New Jersey for a wedding in November and I was amazing by all of the colors. Fall is downright dramatic in other places in the US!

    Hey Karen,

Does this come in brown? Black mascara is usually too dark for me, even with one layer.

How’s the move going? Hopefully not too stressful.

And thanks for answering my question re the MAC Mineralize shadows! I’ve been offline for the past couple days, but was catching up on my surfing today and saw your post. Thanks for taking the time to post tips. I feel honored :). Now I have to head over to MAC and try those shadows.

      Hi Faye,

Sure thing! The move has been a little stressful… I keep reminding myself that it’ll be over soon. 🙂

As for this Zoom Fast mascara, right now it’s just in black. You might want to try the Zoom Lash, which comes in Lofty Brown. I have it and it works really well.

This sounds like Diorshow Iconic (my HG mascara) at half the price if it really does what it’s supposed to. I got suckered into getting the Dazzlelash last year, I was so desperate to have it before it took its time coming to France that I had a friend in the US get it for me. The fees of the telegraphic transfer plus the thing itself came up to about $40 (she didn’t have paypal). And Dazzlelash was a hideous disappointment. I used it maybe 8 times maximum and now it’s dried up because I just kept going back to Iconic. Even Plushlash which used to be my favourite mascara before Iconic pales in comparison now.

I’ll give that a try, Karen. My go-to is Lancome Courbe Virtuose, but the MAC stuff might give a kick for nights out or something.

I remember moving into a new house (after hubby and I built ours) — for me just tackling as much as you can and just getting it over with was the best way. Can’t wait to see pics of your new digs! Don’t overstress about it 🙂

The video is amazing like the one with Illamasqua nail polish. But I don’t like this mascara. I agree with Sylvie that DiorShow is a HG mascara (for me at least)

I have the original Zoom Lash but I don’t really like that one. I am using Dazzle Lash and that one is efficient in adding some volume and separation to my lashes but not so much as length. Looks like Zoom Fast Lash is worthwhile to try it sounds both lengthening and volumizing, but I would have to keep my expectations low because I have short, thin, puny Asian lashes :(.

Oh I love this new video format. How neat-o. At first I thought it was one of those wierd MAC promotional videos [i.e. twisted Hello Kitty+Alice in Wonderland] but thankfully it wasn’t. Good to hear MAC is really improving their mascaras. As soon as I’ve finished the 234879283748923 mascaras I’ve bought and put on my ‘to try’ list I’ll add this too 😛

    Karen,
Yes, besides the fabu mascara — I also picked up the
Tone: Grey quad after my demo. I know a lot of people have said to skip it, but I absolutely love it! I have a thing for silvery greys/blues. The MUA did a killer smokey eye with it and I fell in love:) I also picked up Soft Dazzle from the Dazzleglass Creme collection — she layered it over Creme de Nude l/s and used Sublime Culture liner. I loved it. I got a few random shadows I’ve been wanting — Patina, Silver Ring, and Plumage. Then I ran outta there before I was tempted to buy anything else! lol

I got this and its taking me a bit to figure out if I love it yet. Just not a good thing! I found it got pretty clumpy easily, where the original Zoomlash didn’t. I guess its the silica in it. I did like the length and the blackness, just not the clumps. Maybe I’m applying it wrong??
