Helloooooo, there. 🙂 Greetings from Sniffles-ville!
I’m still kind of getting over that cold, but I desperately want to get out and do some beauty shopping… Maybe a really quick trip to Ulta or Sephora this afternoon, which reminds me — what are your three favorite ways to shop for beauty products?
Hmm… My three are 1) freestanding stores, 2) big stores like Sephora and Ulta, and 3) drugstores.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Hi friend. I voted for big box beauty stores, counters, & freestanding stores. Sorry you still have the sniffles- which might help you make it in & out of Ulta & Sephora quickly. Though, I don’t know a woman alive who’s ever managed to do that! Hopefully, these trips uplift your spirits about Sniffles-ville. Feel better soon!
Erin says
I prefer Sephora and Norstrom. Most of my drugstore stuff comes from Target.
Agata says
I picked, big box beauty stores, drugstores and department stores.
Please, feel better. I have a really bad cough myself :-/
Rachel R. says
I put: 1)Big stores like Sephora and Ulta, 2) Drug stores, and 3) Brand websits. I shop mostly online from all sources, as it’s at least a 20 min. drive to Ulta, and at least 30-40 mins. for Sephora. If traffic is good.
I hope you kick the cold soon.

I put those exact 3 too! Online is the way to go for me. Plus I like using Ebates to get cash back from online purchases! Every little bit helps!
Rachel R. says
Yes to ebates! I get a good chunk of change back every quarter. It’s invaluable when holiday shopping, especially.

My first vote was for Other: my favorite way to shop is through department stores websites (mostly Nordstrom and Macy’s).
My two other choices where big beauty stores and department stores.
I really do most, if not all, of my shopping online.

I have a budget and a strategy. I always check eBay to see if I can get something at a reduced price. If not, then it’s a visit to Ulta or Sephora.

Hey Karen, glad you’re feeling better. Shopping always helps. I love shopping at Ulta and Sephora then my 2nd choice is the brand’s website then finally 3rd at the drug store. I really like online at Ulta, cuz it seems like they always give such awesome samples away and not so much in store.

I live in a small city (100,000 people, 40,000 undergrads) with a serious makeup drought. We have no sephora, no ulta, our macy’s only has three counters (no bobbi brown or mac!). So I’m a dedicated web shopper. I save big purchases and testing out products for when I’m able to travel to a city an hour or so away, or on vacations. I do buy quite a few drugstore products, we have both Target and CVS. The saving graces for interesting stuff are Kohl’s and Urban Outfitters.

I voted for drugstores, big beauty stores, and “other”. By “other” I mean the Hautelook website! Some of my favorite brands, like the Balm, Tarina Tarantino, and Stila are featured during flash sales and their products are often 50% off. I can’t resist a sale on products that I really like.
Tatiana says
My three favorite ways to shop for cosmetics are Nordstrom, the MAC and NARS websites and SpaceNK on-line. They’re opening a stand alone SpaceNK near me on Friday!! Yipee! I’m so excited.
Getting kinda tired of how messy and dirty my local Sephora is becoming, so that has gone down a few spots on my list.
Unfortunately, there aren’t any Ulta’s nearby. But when my dear daughter lived in Houston, there was one near her apartment that we popped into almost every time I visited her.
Anastassia says
I prefer big department stores, then drugstores and finally internet.
connie says
I love ulta because I can shop for makeup with my granddaughters and look for the clearance stuff. You never know what you’ll find. I have 10 granddaughters so pennies count.LOL feel better soon
Jessica says
Vicks! You need Vicks!
LindaLibraLoca says
Sephora! I visited one when I was in France and loved it!
Holly says
I generally stick to either a drugstore, Target, or Ulta, but I’m hoping to get a beauty box subscription later this year for either my birthday or Christmas. Does anyone have recommendations for subscriptions?
Rachel R. says
I like Glossybox, Boxycharm and Beauty Box 5 best out of the ones I’ve tried.
Holly says
Thanks, Rachel, I really appreciate your feedback! I only ever hear about Birchbox & ipsy; I’ll Google the others. 😀
Heather L says
I love Glossybox and Boxycharm too! Especially when they send things like full size Tarte products!!!
Brunette says
If I can, I ALWAYS buy my makeup from Ulta! I love their points system
Sissi says
Online, online and online! ? (Sephora, Ulta, Amazon)
Emme says
I chose other because I also like shopping at Macys.com.
My Beauty Dreams says
The drugstore (Priceline especially) will always be my favorite way to buy makeup! Affordable, good quality products?! Yes please!

No all of the above option? 😉
Feel better!!
Kiss & Make-up says
I voted drugstores, department stores and big stores like Sephora! I feel that at least the sales people there leave me alone to browse. At counters I often feel a bit pushed by the sales people, what with them constantly lurking over your shoulder and asking a bazillion times ‘if you need help’.
Bella says
I only have a choice between department stores (or parfumeries), and brand or other websites. No freestanding stores and no Sephora here, no Sirreeeee!!!!! (Is Europe really the First World?)
Heather L says
First choice: Ulta, because I like their rewards program better than Sephora, plus they have high end and drug store, second choice Sephora, because I need my Nars and Kat Von D! Then, I love finding out about great new products from Glossybox and Boxycharm subscriptions. Finally, its Amazon for Balm and Jouer or other products I can’t find elsewhere, Occasionally I shop at Macy’s or brand websites (particularly MAC, Makeup Geek, and Morphe)
Iris says
I shop through drugstores or at Sephora mostly. Other ways I shop include through decant circles/group orders to maximize my international shipping. I also realised I shop from indie brand websites and from Winners sometimes too. The latter is a messy but you can sometimes find great items there!
