This morning I bought some daisies. I put them in a vase my BFF’s gave me for my 30th birthday and set them on my windowsill.
The single rock on the left is from a small town in Spain. I picked it up on the day El Hub asked me to marry him. 🙂

I suspect Tabs keeps losing his nylon collars on purpose. He prefers to be blinged out in Dior.
The giveaway is now closed, and the winner will be contacted soon.
Please tell me it’s t-shirt and blooming flower weather where you are. According to my calendar, spring has arrived, and to herald the arrival of warmer weather and allergy season (ha-choo!), let’s hold a Clarins giveaway. 🙂
One of you pretty ladies is going to win a Clarins Nature Temptations palette of six springy eyeshadow colors (a $40 value).
There are a couple different ways to enter the giveaway, and doing both gives you two chances to win.
First, enter by leaving a comment at the bottom of this post with your favorite thing about spring. Is it the start of a new TV show? The last snowfall? The new makeup lines?
My favorite thing about spring is that I can wear sandals. I hate wearing socks… My feet feel so oppressed in them, LOL!
Second, enter by subscribing to my updates by email if you haven’t already. They’re once-a-day emails with my latest posts on beauty product previews, makeup reviews, random weirdness and fun makeup looks.
(note: if you’re already subscribed, you’re automatically entered to win.)
I’ll pick the one winner at random from among the people who enter by 11:59PM PST Wednesday night.
Viva la spring!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Congrats to Kim, Susana, Tina, Alice and Christina — winners of the $90 Diva giveaway — and Luv J (MAC Hello Kitty nailpolish), Connie (MAC Cutester lipstick) and Evian (Stila Pearl Kitten gloss). 🙂

Hi, ladies. I got out of class early today, so I decided to head over to Longs Drugs to pick up a snack — strawberries and some Power-C Vitamin Water, yum! I’m cruising the beauty aisle right now and checking out the exotic-looking lines in the Skin Health Clinic section. I’ve got my eye on some items from Avene. Have you ever used any of their products?
Avene says their skin care line contains special thermal spring water from Avene, France. I read a bunch of reviews on Makeup Alley last night, and several of their lotions, cleansers, anti-aging creams and acne treatments received glowing reviews. I’ve been wanting to try the line but just haven’t gotten around to it.
Most of the items cost between $15-30, which is a lil’ more expensive than typical drugstore skin care products.

Just a quick followup to yesterday’s Stila Summer 2009 post. MBB reader Shivotra mentioned in the comments that MAC makes a Fluidline called Blitz & Glitz may work as a substitute for Stila’s new Smudge Pot 24K in Golden Noir (thanks, Shivotra!).
“I have a feeling it’s exactly like MAC’s Fluidline in Blitz & Glitz, which also has gold flecks infused with black liner.”
A girl can never have too many options, so let’s take a look at Blitz & Glitz ($15) and how it compares to Stila’s Smudge Pot 24K in Golden Noir ($20).
Both are essentially black gel liners/eyeshadows with golden shimmer. The most obvious difference has to be the price, with Golden Noir costing 30% more than MAC Blitz & Glitz, ouch!
Blitz & Glitz on left, Golden Noir on right. Swatches taken in natural light.
As for appearance, the shimmery golden bits in Blitz & Glitz are tiny, giving it a subtle, opalescent finish, and the black applies rich and dark. To get the gold to shine through I really have to pack it on, which leads me to think of Blitz & Glitz as a matte black liner with just the faintest whisper of golden shimmer.
Stila Golden Noir, on the other hand, looks totally blinged out, with a higher concentration of large golden shimmer bits — almost glitter-sized bits.

Hopeful. This week I’m trying a new strategy! Each day I’m going to take at least one small step to organize my life.
MAC Soft Brown! I can wear it in the crease with everything.
This fluctuates often, but as of last week it’s been Chanel’s Tangerine Dream.
Bumble and Bumble’s Curl Conscious Nourishing Masque. It smells divine and totes gets my hair to behave.
Pretty well, but I could have used a couple more hours.
Bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios, a cup of orange/mango juice and coffee.
How to handle stress better and figure out a to-do list system that works for me.
Still in jammies for now… but my outfit for the day will be green cargo pants, a white long sleeve shirt and a brown and white knit sweater.
I’m ashamed to admit it, but it’s Love Touch by Rod Stewart.
Develop a work schedule or a to-do list and stick to it, buy some gum and houseplants, exercise every day because yesterday I tried on some pants and they were a little too snug — so NOT crackin’.
Hey, honeys! How are you feeling this morning? Take a second to check in. Just copy the empty list, and paste it with your answers in the comments.
