Trader Joe’s Rose Oil Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream

February 21st, 2018 by Karen 43 Comments

No, girl, seriously, if Trader Joe’s sold this in life-size buckets or barrels, I would strip down and just dunk myself into them from toes to chin, and I’d do it every day — perhaps even multiple times a day — because this new hand cream (AHHH!) feels soooo good.

I got it at the store last Saturday. TJ’s has a few rose skin care products, actually. There’s also a rose oil and a rose facial toner, and this is the Rose Oil Ultra Moisturizing Hand Cream. It’s $4.99 for a 3-oz. tube and feels exactly like L’Occitane Shea Butter Hand Cream to me.

Both list Shea Butter as the second ingredient, so maybe that’s why.

It has that, like… How can I explain this? You know how your hands will feel good for about five minutes when you put on some hand creams, but then go back to feeling dry again afterward? Well, when I rub this stuff in, my skin feels quenched for hours.

It’s been really dry and windy here in Northern California lately. Before I started using this, the skin on my hands literally HURT, but this Rose Oil is making everything better.

It smells really good, too. Like rose hard candy! The scent is very light… You’ll be able to smell it if you get your nostrils all up in your hands, but the people around you won’t be able to catch a whiff

Next time I go to TJ’s, I’m going to grab however many tubes they have left on the shelf, if they have any.

I hope they do because, dude, I’ve been seeing this pop up on eBay for $13. Cray.

Love you, TJ’s!

In other news…

I know I’ve been posting less often than usual for the past few days, and there’s a good reason for that.

I’m still here. HI! Everything’s fine. 🙂 I’ve just been getting a new batch of products ready to launch on the connorclaire.com store, so I’ve been working on new designs for fun new cat and makeup-themed things.

ETA is within the next 2-3 weeks, so that’s what I’ve been doing between cat/baby duty and MBB posts. I’m still here and would love to chat about anything that’s on your mind, so please say wasssup and/or hi. Tell me about your cats! What you’re doing. What lipstick you’re wearing. You know, the usual things friends talk about.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

I love little hand creams to put in my purse, desk, nightstand, etc. Are there other scents? I’m not crazy about rose. So excited for new Connor Claire merchandise!

      Hi Rachel,

Unfortunately, no, I didn’t see any other scents. I wish TJs would make this product permanent! It really is so good.

Also… the rose isn’t too heavily rose, if that makes sense. Like you know how some rose scents smother you? This one doesn’t.

I love the hand cream rec. I just got a Moroccan Oil lotion sample yesterday and was hoping it would take away the dryness (and yes, painful knuckles!) forever. HAHA! I think it did pretty well for a couple of hours until I washed my hands. And it’s non-greasy, which I love. I’ll have to try to get over to TJs and give this one a try!

Congrats on the new Connor Claire merch – can’t wait to see it!! 🙂

      Hi Kim,

Ugh, I can imagine how much worse it is up where you live where it’s REALLY cold. You know what gets me? The combination between the dry, cold air outside and the dry, cold air inside. BAH!

I have a few cat lady things in the store that I’m hoping you (and the other feline enthusiasts here) will like. Meow.

      How have you been?

It’s pretty brutal but, I’ll tell you, warm air inside doesn’t help much either. We are in an old building and I basically sit on top of a space heater all winter. It’s a terrible recipe for dry skin and headaches! 🙁

I’m excited to see all the new stuff!!!

Busy, but good, thanks! The boys have a HS game tonight that they need to win to move on (Sectionals). Then we have tournaments starting on 3/9 (3 hours away) and 3/23 (8 hours away). In between, I’m in Italy for a week (work). When we finish with the tournaments, I’m in AR for work for 2 days and then fly home just in time (hopefully!!!) to catch a flight for our April break vacation. I’m not complaining but my March schedule is going to be ridiculous. And, I’m honestly quite worried about making my flight out with the family. Any delays will be a huge problem but I absolutely cannot miss the AR trip. 🙁 That said, why worry about things you can’t control – especially when they’re a month away? HAHA!

You’re gonna be busy but watch, it’ll go by so fast, and when it’s slow you’ll miss the bustle. 🙂 When you’re in Italy I hope you’ll take lots and lots of pics of your food. It’s the right thing to do. 🙂

Where are you guys going for your April vacation? Hawaii?

HAHA! I’m a bit bummed about my low carb. I don’t think it’s sustainable (nor should it be!) in Italy. 🙂

We’re going to Universal – we haven’t been in years since the new part of Harry Potter was added – then up to Tybee Island and Savannah. I wish we were going back to Hawaii! We usually try to hit an amusement park, do some boogie boarding and go to a city with historical value for vacation. Hopefully it will help the kids to broaden their horizons a bit. That is the nice thing about the East Coast – lots of history and most within a day’s drive (though, we’re flying because of the limited time).

Mmmm, I may need to grab some of this ish! It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been to TJs… it can just be so harrowing going to one in the city, lol! But I’m all about a good (and inexpensive) hand lotion.
Trying to stay busy and awake today – kind of one of those “hurry up and wait” sort of days, y’know? But my lipstick is giving me life! I’m wearing a Sephora #lipstories lippy today (those ones with the paper packaging), in Off-limits, which is a matte grayish kind of purple (lurv). I was all about the Maybelline stuff you posted yesterday, and was going to go looking for it – but happened to drop by Sephora and saw this similar shade, and just decided to try it out! It’s hella comfy and shockingly easy to wear. I totes need to check out more of this line.
There’s something about purple lipstick that feels easy and wearable to me, more so than other “non-traditional” colors… while also feeling rebellious in a stick-it-to-the-man kind of way, lol. I’m all about it!

      Hi Shannon,

Totally get that. When I lived in SF I never went to TJs because merely driving into the parking lot would take off 10 years of my life.

BTW, how is work life with the new boss?

P.S. I saw that pic of you on Insta with your new lippie. Looks SO GOOD on you!

That hand cream sounds Divine. I can’t get to a Trader Joe’s but L’Occitane hand creams help. I use either the hand cream (big tube). Or the Milk Concentrate (big tub). I sometimes take an empty lip balm tub (like the Diot one-sturdy enough) and half fill it with the thicker cream for my purse. My kitty Chanel is kneading her blanket and meowing at me to pet her (yes dear) but not until coffee, lol!

We have actually traveled quite a bit in the last several years…I am really enjoying having my time for whatever I want to do! After working for almost 45 years, I was ready!

Are you at that point where the days of the week blend together? Whenever I talk to my mom on the phone ask she’ll ask what I’m doing, and I’m like, “MOM! It’s 10 on a Tuesday. It’s the middle of my workday!” She’ll then reply, “Oh, right. I thought it was Saturday.” LOL

The time has flown by with Connor! Her 2nd birthday is March 2, can you believe it? Seems like just yesterday she was a teeny, tiny peanut cradled in my arms. Now she’s a headstrong, outgoing toddler with opinions on everything.

Do you know how this compares to their regular ultra moisturizing hand cream? (the one in a navy blue tube)?
I love that one because it is moisturizing but does not leave a greasy feel on my hands. So it lives on my office desk but is close to empty now. TJs does really good with some of their skin care stuff – their midsummer night’s cream is a great body lotion too and I also love their jojoba oil.

This stuff looks amazing! I have tubes of hand lotion strategically placed at home, in my purse at work, etc. because my hands get dry to easily. I’ve never really tried Trader Joe’s skin care stuff, so thanks for the recommendation.

Mingy got to hang out freestyle in the yard for a little while. 🙂 He’s pretty good about staying close to the house. Ella got some time outside too, but there wasn’t much grass for her to eat (and throw up). Nina and Louis can only go out on harnesses. I don’t trust them as much to roam free. They are too fast!

We’re back to colder and rainier weather today. February is just kind of gray out here, but I’m looking forward to spring!

LOL about the grass. Seriously I spend half my day looking for pockets of kitty barf that I may have missed.

When do things usually warm up around your way? We usually have a few spring like weeks in February, then it rains through March and April, then gets sunny in May.

March is kind of iffy, but April and May are nice. It can get very hot June through August, but I’m not complaining! I’ve heard the best time for San Francisco is in September. Is that right? It’s still on my list of places to visit!

This moisturizer sounds like it feels and smells divine, I live in Southern CA and it’s been very dry and colder here as well and my skin feels it. My lips feel it too and even though I sometimes wear liquid lipsticks my lips are on strike right now. Only thing on them lately is chapstick and the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip shine, actually feels good on my lips. Your little one is so cute and so is your kitty. Cheers!

Oh, no no no no- can’t handle the rose scent. Rose, wisteria, and gardenia scented things make me queasy. Sadly, any skin-related products I use regularly have to be scent and dye free because of my sensitive skin. The First Aid Beauty line has been a god-send for me.

Let’s see… today I’m working on my monthly grocery shopping list and changing my mantle decorations from winter to spring. I’m not wearing lipstick (it just seems silly when I am {gloriously} alone in the house), but I do have on a honey-vanilla-chamomile lip balm that makes me want a cup of tea.

We live an hour away from any decent grocery stores, so I just buckle down and spend a day (or two!) making a big list. I do Publix, Sam’s, TJ’s, and sometimes Whole Foods all in one day. One thing that helps is that I’ve made a kind of Master List of meals that we all like and will eat over & over again. Then I rotate in seasonal meals- right now I’ve got a big month of grilling coming up!!!

I find it moisturizing and calming, with a hint of toning/firming/pore-shrinkage. I use it to try to help combat drying issues of retinoids. I use it right after I finish with washing and I spray it on liberally. Probably 8 spritzes or so. Then I layer on my toners and essence. If I’m using an acid toner, I’ll do that first before the rose toner.
