Unsung Makeup Heroes: Sephora Radiant Luminizing Drops

April 20th, 2016 by Adia Goss 23 Comments

Sephora Radiant Luminizing Drops

The long-running Unsung Heroes series here on Makeup and Beauty Blog features some of our all-time favorite permanent collection products.

Like Jen, a lot of the beauty products I end up buying are things I’ve heard good things about from other bloggers and makeup lovers, and so they aren’t necessarily “unsung.” But I do find myself coming back over and over again to the Sephora brand products, because I feel like, in general, Sephora brand products are super underrated. Like, everything is really good, but it’s just like when you go to Sephora, you’re overwhelmed by everything else, so I feel like the Sephora brand stuff just gets overlooked.

There’s actually a Sephora right across the street from my job, which is both awesome and horrible, LOL. So, one day on my lunch break, I was just going to the mall to walk around, and I go into Sephora like I usually do to pass the time and see what they have, and I see this little display of the Sephora brand Radiant Luminizing Drops. There’s a pink one, a gold one and maybe a bronzey-colored one ($14 each), and I did a little sample of the light pink one, Starlight, right then on my hand.

Wow! It was super pretty! It’s this liquid highlighter that’s pink…but it’s, like, warm enough that it actually shows up as pink, and I love pink. It’s my favorite color, especially when it comes to makeup. Like, I’m drawn to anything pink and shimmery, but a lot of times on dark skin, pink, shimmery products appear white and super harsh, so even though I love the color, when it comes to liquid or even powder highlighter, when I see pink, I steer clear, because I think, “This is gonna look super chalky and just crazy on my face.”

So when I tested this on my hand and saw a really pretty soft glowing pink, I thought, “You know what? I’mma just buy this!” And I did! And I love it!

It has a really nice texture, and even though it’s a liquid illuminator / liquid luminizer kind of product, it’s actually really light. It’s not heavy on the face or super thick, and it doesn’t interfere with my foundation. Most of the time the way I wear it is I’ll put it all over my face, then I’ll put foundation over that, and it just creates the nicest soft glow.

And pink is a good color for brightening (and maybe because of the shimmer, it also kind of blurs my pores), so sometimes on the weekends, after I put on my moisturizer and sunscreen, I’ll just put this all over my face without foundation for an easy brightening glow. (Here’s it in action in my after gym makeup tutorial.)

I just LOVE these drops, and I really haven’t seen any other bloggers talk about them. I think they’re awesome.

If you’re looking for a luminizing liquid and don’t want to invest in something super expensive, or even if you don’t mind something super expensive, I think these Sephora brand Radiant Luminizing Drops are awesome (and they’re only $14). I honestly could not recommend them more, and I definitely plan to try some of the other colors.

I love how sheer this pink is, even on medium/tan skin tones pink highlighters can look chalky so I try to avoid them.

This is one of the only pink highlighters that actually looks pink on my skin!

I can relate to having a Sephora so close by, because the closest one to my house is less than five minutes away. ? It’s wonderful and terrible at the same time.

This product’s got me thinking about something similar form MAC called the Lustre Drops . Have you heard of them? I think you’d like Pink Rebel.

Yes Karen! I was actually just stalking this on the MAC website. Luckily there’s a MAC in the mall by me, so I’m gonna look for it on Friday ☺️

The pink is really, really lovely on your skin.

My closest Sephora is a minimum of a 40 min. drive…if traffic is good. I miss the days when I lived 10 minutes away.

Thanks, Rachel! And my goodness…40 minutes! But that’s probably a good thing because you can avoid impulse shopping 😉

I go through a hard time making people understand why, in spite of having oily skin, I love illuminators. I love shining in the right places. LOL.

I am keeping an eye on this one for sure.

And a Sephora right opposite of where you work? They could send my money straight there without bothering to hand it to me in the first place…

Seriously, it’s so dangerous! And there’s a MAC right next to the Starbucks…so basically my check should go to the mall instead of the bank!

I wanted to like this but it has too much glitter for my taste. I prefer a really natural sheen. I recently swatched the Hourglass ambient lighting powders and I seriously just stood in Sephora for about 20 mins. in awe. Also, the Smashbox Hollywood and Highlight cheek color is what I’m obsessed with right now. It’s so pretty and natural.

Oh, yeah…this shows pretty sparkly in the swatch! The Hourglass ones are probably the best super subtle highlighters. Definitely that “lit from within” look 🙂 That Smashbox highlight sounds really pretty. I need to check it out next time I’m in Sephora. Thanks for the recommendation!

I love luminizing liquids and I had no idea Sephora had a product like this! Sephora has really been upping their game with their in-house brand, lately!

I think Lustrelux has used the gold one and raves about these drops. I may have to drop by Powell and check these out as well…
I have pretty sensitive skin, so I’m hoping it won’t cause a reaction.
