What’s That Twinkling in the Sky? Oh, That’s a Satellite of Love! NARS Satellite of Love Highlighter Blush

September 5th, 2012 by Karen 30 Comments

NARS Satellite of Love Highlighting Blush

“Kitty Glitter Enthusiast.” I’m thinking about adding that to my business cards, which currently read, “Assistant to the CEO, Tabs the Cat Industries, LLC.”

Made for cat ladiesI looked around online for a place to play Kitty Glitter for free, but I don’t know… I don’t trust those online casinos.

The couple hours I spent hootin’ and hollerin’ in front of that penny slot machine last weekend filled my eyes with sparkles, and I’ve been extra obsessed with glitter ever since.

It’s either that…or NARS Satellite of Love Highlighting Blush.

Like a Snickers bar, this $28 illuminating highlighting powder, one of 22 pieces in the new Andy Warhol Pop Holiday 2012 collection, really satisfies. 🙂 It instantly brightens faces with its sheer, peachy powder and golden glitter.

Lately when glitter calls, I grab a skunk brush and carefully, lightly apply Satellite of Love on my upper cheekbones, down the bridge of my nose and atop my cupid’s bow. Careful is the key word, too; otherwise, we’re talkin’ disco diva territory (which I admit, sometimes I like).

Subtle or intense, depending on how many layers I apply, the shimmer shines the entire day.

If it sounds like something you’d like, try it paired with peachy blushes, like NARS Lustre, Madly or Lovejoy.

NARS Satellite of Love might not be right for every guy/gal, especially ones who prefer matte and satin finishes, but glitter lovers, you’re in luck.

PRICE: $28
AVAILABILITY: Coming October 1 to Sephora stores and sephora.com
MAKEUP AND BEAUTY BLOG RATING: B+

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

P.S. Happy hump day. 🙂 How’s your Wednesday going? Anything new to report?

That sounds wonderful. Was the water warm enough to swim in?

I know what ya mean. My pores can look pretty big if I’m wearing something too shimmery…the good thing about this highlighting blush, though, is that you can mellow the glitter out. Might be something to think about, or at least swatch next time you’re at Sephora. 🙂

This looks like a great highlighter, I like. Not necessarily for myself, but I’d definitely use it on models or clients.

It looks pretty but I wish the glitter was softer and more of a shimmering sheen, it looks lovely on your face though!

It looks very natural on you! I already own a lot of highlighters, and I prefer them with a sheen rather than glitters, so I don’t think this is for me.

      Hi Lulle,

Yeah, the glitter on this one is kinda big, so it might not work. How about something like Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector instead?

This is so pretty! A little bit of glitter now and then can be nice. 🙂

I’m behind on my MBB reading! I was on vacation last week and after getting back I’ve been trying to get caught up with work and life back at home.

Also, for the past couple of weeks we’ve been fostering a stray kitten my husband found at his work. When we found him he was about 8 weeks old and only 2 lbs! All the shelters we called were full, so we took him home with us. It was a bit tough at first trying to figure out how to get him a permanent home, but thankfully my sister-in-law is going to take him. I’m so happy about that b/c I’ll still get to see him on a regular basis.

I will make sure to share some pix. I’m a bit biased, but he’s pretty darn cute. 🙂

      Hi Ruchita,

How was vacation? Did you do anything fun? I hope the kitties didn’t miss you too much.

Vacation was fun! We went to South Beach and had a nice, relaxing time on the beach. The kitties did well while we were away. I think I missed them more than they missed me. 🙂

Glad to hear you guys had fun. I know you remembered to wear sunscreen so I won’t lecture you about it, LOL!

Were the kitties extra lovey-dovey when you picked them up? THAT IS THE BEST!

The color is just gorgeous–but man, Monsieur Nars REALLY needs to tone it down with the glitter in my opinion. It would be nice if he had more of a balanced mix of mattes, satins, and glitters. Instead, all of his blushes are really in-you-face shimmery/glittery. I guess that’s his thing, but it’s so frustrating for me because I love the colors of the blushes but they always emphasize my pores/add too much shine to my already-oily skin :/

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
