True Blue, Baby I Love You: Sweet Fig Body Lotion Is Another Moroccan Hit

July 21st, 2009 by Karen 31 Comments

true-blue-morocco-sweet-fig-and-argan-body-lotion

Packaging junkies — pretty bottle alert! I’m loving this elegant glass bottle of Sweet Fig & Argan Body Lotion ($15) from the new True Blue Morocco collection by Bath and Body Works.

Looks expensive

The heavy glass comes embossed with a dainty diamond pattern at the bottom, and the colorful but minimalist label looks nothing like typical Bath and Body Works hearts/flowers/rainbows/puppies packaging fare. It totes looks like something I’d find in Neiman’s or Barney’s instead.

I’m thinking it has hostess or housewarming gift written all over it. 🙂

Highly moisturizing

The lotion itself works great. My dry skin needs real deal moisturization, and Sweet Fig Lotion delivers the goods. Bath and Body Works added hydrating ingredients like shea butter, argan oil (an oil rich in Vitamin E) and green tea (for the antioxidants) into the mix. The resulting lotion moisturizes like a rich body butter.

A warm, fall scent

To me, Sweet Fig Lotion smells like a mix of white musk, cinnamon and clove. It’s warm and comforting, like a cashmere cable-knit sweater or a cup of hot apple cider — more like a fall scent than a typical summer fragrance.

And I dig it a lot.

Lately at night I’ve been taking True Blue Morocco Rose Petal and Orange Flower Shower Cream ($15) with me into the shower and moisturizing with Sweet Fig Lotion after I’m done, ahh…

Bath and Body Works True Blue Morocco Sweet Fig & Argan Body Lotion

Price: $15 for an 8-oz bottle
Use: A scented and highly moisturizing body lotion with an elegant glass bottle — makes a great gift! 🙂
Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

You might like Sweet Fig Lotion if…

  • you have really dry skin that needs a lot of hydration,
  • you like musky, spicy “fall” fragrances, or
  • you have a thang for elegant packaging.

I’ve liked everything I’ve tried from the True Blue Morocco collection so far. Sweet Fig’s one of six body products in the line, and like the others it draws inspiration from some of the scents and symbols of the North African country of Morocco.

If you’ve been wanting to give these products a try, Bath and Body Works has a True Blue Morocco sale going on now — buy any two products from the line for $20, a savings of about 30% off the regular price.

One too many vampires!

LOL, I can’t tell you how many times I almost typed “True Blood” in place of “True Blue” in this post.

I’m almost finished watching Season 1 on DVD — just four more episodes left! We don’t have HBO, so I won’t be able to see the second season until it comes out on DVD. Shoot! I may have to wait, what, like a year? Sigh…

How’s your Tuesday coming along? Mine’s been pretty good, except that I’m having a little trouble concentrating.

Oh, well. It happens. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Well I am a packaging whore and I really love the shape and design of this bottle. I haven’t yet seen any of the Moroccan products but next time I’m near a Bath & Body Works, I’m gonna check ’em out!

I just finished season 1 on DVD also, le sigh. I was ALL excited because I went onto Netflix to get disc 6, then realized there was no disc 6! I too will have to suffer through this next year, booo. I’m reading book 5 now though at least.

      Hi Vampy Varnish,

Wow, you’re already on book five. I’ve been stuck on book two for the last week and a half!

Karen – that is an awesome bottle. Definitely good idea as a hostess gift.

Karen & VV – I know of a site where you can watch TB season 2 streamed. Don’t have to download anything. Let me know of you want the link.

I have absolutely no idea how fresh figs smell like. I can imagine they’re good…

Ugh, my Tuesday was stressful – I had to go get a license plate for my new car and it was a nightmare!

I love that lotion bottle as well – I love the white with the pop of color. I tried the honey & date body yogurt and totally loved it – I kept sniffing my arm all day. But, I resisted buying it since I have enough lotion to last me a lifetime.

I was in the same boat – no HBO, ran out of True Blood to Netflix – but then my hubby found a place to download the current episodes online, and then we transfer them to the tivo to watch them on our tv. It’s probably not legal – oops.

      Hi Tiffany,

Ah, smart! I need to do some detective work. I don’t mind watching shows online, but I’d much rather watch them on TV. I stare at the computer all day… I’d rather stare at the TV to relax, LOL!

What happened with your license plate? Did somebody steal it?!

Ahem, Karen? When you’re don with that bottle, could you rinse it out very, very well and send it to me? I’m so allergic to “musky” scents (well, 99% of scents in general) but the bottle is so pretty!!!

You are too funny. The bottle is super cute, huh? I’ve had it on my desk all day just so I can just stare at it.

And I’d like to mention that this whole collection is 2 for $20 right now! Immediately after reading this I drove to B&BW, purchased the lotion and the pink (Sweet Fig & something another) showergel, tweeted to you about it, and came back to comment! I’m loving this stuff!

    Hey Karen!

I like “fallsy” scents, esp Bath and Body Works’ other figgy one, Brown Sugar and Fig? Question: does the Morocco collection stuff come in a body cream as well as lotion? I lurrrrve a good thick cream! xoxo

      Hi Lucky,

The fig scent doesn’t come in a cream, but the lotion feels really thick — almost like a whipped body butter. You might like a thicker cream from the line called Honey & Date Body Yoghurt for $17.50. It also smells very fall!

Is your internship still going well? I hope so!

looks pretty… but the whole cinnamon/clove thing is not me i’m afraid. i like citrusy/bright or clean/fresh scents as body products.

    on an unrelated topic…

i took your advice and bought a dior creme de gloss… i found a color really close to the discontinued dior kiss (squeezy tube) hazelnut lychee – my HG nude! i bought 231 beige silk satin, which suits me better than the sweet praline or fig (both which turned a bit cakey/muddy, respectively) – has a brightening effect that would go well with both daytime and evening looks!

i can see it becoming one of my staple natural lip looks, along with NARS chihuahua & clinique bamboo pink. so pretty!

It is super cute. Y’know, if I got a gas mask (the ones the military wears when they tear gas a place) and went into B&BW for the bottle, paid for it and then emptied and washed it out (all whilst wearing the mask) then I could have the bottle for myself. I’d probably get a looooooooot of looks though! Just to think, when I rinse all that lotion out, I could just replace it with a horde of Aveeno lotion. Actually, that sounds like a good idea.

Note to self: Purchase pretty lotion bottle to make my Aveeno look even more expensive than it is all ready.

Well- here is my story: I had this thing for the Dolce & Gabana eye quad called : Stromboli. I finally purchased it from it’s elusive site saks.com for $56.00 Uh!
I open it, use it. and I am unimpressed with its lack of pigment content.
I have all of the new Cover Girl eye enhancers/ metallics/ quads that are maybe $ 5 or $ 6 dollars a pop with plenty of pigment and leave me with plenty of change.
So I say, Arrivederci Dolci & Gabbana and Hello Cover Girl!
You are now my favorite Drugstore find!

    Hey girl – FYI
this line is now 50% off!!! That’s right!
I bought this lotion and the honey/date body yoghurt…I think I like the body yoghurt more but I’ll have to give the fig lotion a fair trial.

My favorite fig scent is Fresh’s Fig and Apricot body cream. I could swim in that stuff I just wished it didn’t set me back $65 🙁
