Totally Taupe-ular! Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Rose Platine

April 28th, 2011 by Karen 28 Comments

Chanel’s new limited edition Stylo Yeux Waterproof Long-Lasting Eyeliner in Rose Platine ($29) has a nice surprise to go along with its ultra smudge-proof formula (once it’s on my lash line, it stays on like Donkey Kong!).

The lone liner in the new Chanel Les Fleurs D’Ete Summer Collection might not look like much in its twist-up pencil packaging, but along my lash line it flashes from a shimmery silver to a peachy taupe when the light hits it right. I don’t think I have anything close to this peachy taupe in my stash o’ liners; it’s really unique.

I don’t think it feels as smooth as anUrban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil does, but after a quick burst of heat from my T3 dryer, the softened tip glides on without tugging. A few swipes along my lash lines — it takes about three to get a solid line — and I swear my eyes look brighter and more awake.

It comes with a secret sharpener!

It’s Chanel, and they ask a pricey premium, but if you have a taupe fetish and an urge to splurge, consider adding Rose Platine to your makeup stash.

PRICE: $29

Truly outrageous!

Well dye my hair pink and get my star-shaped earrings because Jem and the Holograms are coming back!

I don’t think I’ve been this excited about an old show coming back since a My So-Called Life marathon a few years ago (Jordan Catalano, le sigh!).

Jem was a cartoon that aired between 1985-88, and among my friends, it was THE show to watch. It starred a girl named Jerrica, her band mates and a super computer named Synergy. And, um, instead of asking Synergy to help her build a better mousetrap or achieve world peace, Jerrica had Synergy turn her into a rock star with big pink hair. Wait — it gets better. All Jerrica had to do to transform was twist her magic earrings and say, “Showtime, Synergy!”

I know it sounds totally cheesy, but my 10-year-old friends and I loved that show. I’d put on my biggest earrings, pretend to twist them and say, “Showtime, Synergy!”

Okay, I guess you had to be there…

The show’s coming back to a channel called The Hub (El Hub?!) on May 28. You better believe I’m DVR-ing that ish, boo.

Onward to Friday! I can see the finish line in sight. 🙂

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Hey Karen! I’m developing a fascination for taupe and of course I feel like I need this. I also feel like I have to have an obsession with everything in the make up world at least once. My cream blush obsession hasn’t even ended yet and I’m already moving on to all things taupe…

Oh, and I’ve always wondered why your husband is “El” Hub. Is he Hispanic? My boyfriend is Mexican-American and I always tease him because he doesn’t speak Spanish. Except for curse words for some reason…

i love this colour! bonus points for being smudge-proof, too (which i never would’ve assumed, to be honest). as gorgeous as it is, though, i don’t see myself splurging for it.

The eyeliner really is georgeous and I can totally sympathize with the whole cheezy childhood cartoon bit (this coming from a girl who was a HUGE Totally Spies fan lol)

Lovely color but a bit too pricey for eyeliner even if it is Chanel. I might start looking for a dupe 🙂
I need to check if we get this Hub channel bc i will totally watch Jem! i actually liked The Misfits more, they seemed to have more fun 😉

Oh, my! The liner looks like it was rolled in glitter! Very pretty. 🙂

I’ve never seen Jem and the Holograms but your story made me laugh. I remember watching Shmoo reruns on Boomerang years ago and being so happy. I didn’t think to DVR them and they haven’t been back since. I loved Shmoo in grade school and used to draw him on all my notebooks. Then again, I also liked Smurfs. I can’t believe they’re actually making a movie about them now.

I loved Jem! I had Jem, Rio, and Clash dolls. Clash had the best outfit, a glittery teal dress, a neon yellow, cropped fur coat, and her heels were either hot pink or metallic purple. I can’t remember whose shoes belonged to whom.

And K-rad, your face looks flawless. Im loving the new careblend powders too, on bare skin they dont look powder-y or matte at ALL but are really nicely pigmented!! Love it.

YES – LOVE me some JEM!!! But I loved the style of the Misfits better…it’s the punk rock girl in me!

This the one item I forgot to swatch at the Chanel counter.

DO you find sharpening this eye liner a challenge as well? It’s so delicate that I often find myself breaking the tip.

Karen, this is the only thing I picked up from the summer collection (besides a few Coco Shines). When I swatched it, it indeed showed up as taupe–but on my eyes it reads more silver–very unique and special! Thanks for the pics–I envy your photography talent!

LOL Jem and the Holograms! I had several of the dolls – Jem and one of her bandmates, and then I think two of the rival girl band (Misfits?) with the even MORE crazypants hair and outfits. They were awesome.
