Creamy, Coco-Nutty Full-Coverage Too Faced Born This Way Concealer

Too Faced Born This Way Concealer ($28)

Apparently, my mind is in the gutter, because for the longest time I mistakenly thought that this Too Faced concealer was actually named Better Than Sex Concealer, and not Born This Way Concealer, HAHA!

And, of course, because of that, I thought, “How can a concealer be better than sex? I don’t even know… Then again, a good concealer can be pretty darned orgasmic…” LOL! Yeah. Dirty birdy.

Born This Way, which came out early this summer, is $28 and available in 10 shades.

Like some other Too Faced products, it contains skin-friendly ingredients, like coconut water (it has a very faint coconut scent too) and hyaluronic acid, which, Too Faced says, makes it more moisturizing and helps promote a smoother, more youthful appearance.

Truth be told…I can never tell for sure if skincare ingredients make much of a difference when they show up in my makeup, but homegirl does need all the help she can get.

Born This Way is a full-coverage concealer and feels like a fluffy mousse. Right off the bat, the consistency, the smoothing formula and the coverage remind me of NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, which was my errrything for many years, and I still love it.

But I absolutely have to set Born This Way with powder, which I don’t have to do with NARS Radiant Creamy, because if I don’t, the smooth, creamy formula scoots around… I think it might be right on the borderline, just on the edge of a tad too creamy for my combination skin. And sometimes, even when I do set it with a powder, it still shifts and settles into my fine lines a little more than I’d like.

If you don’t have to worry about fine lines, LUCKY! — you can probably pull it off. For me, though, I’ll probably have to stick to the big guns, like my current tried-and-true concealer love, Sephora Bright Future Gel Concealer. My eyes turn into emoji hearts whenever I touch the tube. ?

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

On a side note, I saw Nars released a few new shades in the Radiant Creamy Concealer. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find shade descriptions to compare to the older colors but Sephora has them available online now. 🙂

How funny, Maria! I’m actually working on my NARS post right at this very second, LOL!

Oh thank goodness! Looking forward to it!! 😀 The coverage on the Born this Way concealer was too light for my needs. Definitely going to keep an eye out for your Nars post especially since I’m in between shades!

I own 2 of these Too Faced concealers(because I have to mix the colors). Although, I wish there were more colors, I really like them. My under eye gets dry and this looks natural yet not “cakey.” In the heat and high humidity, they only last 6 hours though. I have combo skin too. (I dislike the Nars and Lancome cult concealers.)

I am going to Sephora today as a treat to myself for a loooong work day!!! I will have to check out those Sephora gel concealers

So many concealers coming out recently. I want to try them all! Since the Too Faced one is suppose to be hydrating, I may get it for the dry winter months.

These look so good! I probably would match medium or medium tan. Last time when I splurged on a concealer, it ended up being a wrong shade.

    Loved your review, Karen!

P.S : Even I don’t prefer my concealers to crease into fine lines. In Indian (hot!) weather, it’s one of the biggest makeup issues. Thankfully, we’re at the end of summers now.

Hi Karen! What shade do you use in the Born This Way concealer? You are the same shade as me, and I love when you review concealers and foundations because it saves me the difficulty in finding my match!

By the way, loving all your posts! I know being a new mom can be tough to get into the old swing of things, but looks like you bounced back pretty quickly!

I know this is not exciting to most but I was very proud of myself when I thought “isn’t Better than Sex a mascara?”. It’s nice to know that something aside from song lyrics and movie lines can stick in this head. HAHA!

I never use a concealer but whenever I read one of your posts about them, I think I should. 🙂 Oh, but not this one. My “fine” lines don’t need any company.

Their fairest shades are unfortunately still way too dark for me. Not really “fair” at all. I hope they’ll expand the line as they did for the foundation.

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a. PGR).
