These Little Discs of EOS Evolution of Smooth Everyday Hand Lotion Are a Joy to (Be) Hold

September 30th, 2011 by Karen 20 Comments

EOS Evolution of Smooth Everyday Hand Lotion in Nourish (left) and Refresh (right)

In a short story writing class I took for fun a few years ago the instructor said that inspiration sometimes hides in the unlikeliest of places. Dagnabbit if homegirl wasn’t totally right, because today I found inspiration in two tiny tubes of hand lotion.

These new Evolution of Smooth Everyday Hand Lotions by EOS ($3.99 each and available in two scents, Nourish and Refresh) could very well have the coolest hand lotion packaging I’ve ever squeezed.

I think it’s so cool when people re-imagine something that could have been mundane, like the packaging for a tube of hand lotion, and turn it into an object of beauty. Now THAT’s inspiring. 🙂

These little discs feel oddly soothing in my paws when I hold them, and I keep wanting to sling one across a glassy pond to see if it’ll skip…

But I’d never dare do that because then I’d be without the lotion! Which is also pretty good. According to EOS, the formula’s 97% natural, and I see some pretty cool compounds up high in the list of ingredients, like aloe, shea butter, oatmeal extract, and sunflower seed and macadamia nut oils.

Not bad.

The lotion leaves my hands feeling soft and smelling great, and it absorbs quickly without leaving behind a greasy residue that would probably interfere with my ability to hold these little shells in my hand.

I like both scents, but I think I prefer Nourish’s clean, soapy floral fragrance to Refresh’s cucumber, which smells more to me like bananas and cantaloupe.

More to like…

  • The formula is free of parabens, lanolin, phthalates and dyes (NOTE: It does contain dimethicone)
  • Highly moisturizing for a lotion, although perhaps not moisturizing enough if you’re constantly washing your hands or suffer from severely dry skin (in that case, you might be better off with a cream)
  • Wasn’t tested on animals, and it doesn’t contain animal byproducts

An effective, affordable hand lotion in innovate attire? Game on! 🙂 I wouldn’t have minded a little more moisture for my paws with cold weather coming, but even so, I think these are great.

PRICE: $4 each
AVAILABILITY: Available at drugstores, Ulta and also online

I LOVE these!! I use the Nourish in the hand cream and body lotion… I love the scent as well, it kind of reminds me of Miss Dior Cherie perfume.

I think that revamping packaging like this is so great, especially since EOS products themselves are quality too.

I’m addicted to EOS, if it says it’ll relieve dry anything I’ll buy and EOS is just one of those brands I keep coming back to

I’ve never seen these- thanks for the post. I like finding products that have great natural ingredients. incidentaly, the packaging reminds me of those round ladies razor popular in the 80’s (Flicker).

Lol, yeah I can see that. I liked the whorl in the center of those razors. My mom let me use them (kinda young because I insisted) because they were wire wrapped, ha ha.

I’m not so fond of Nourish or Refresh so when I finished up my little disc’s, I refilled them with the EOS Boost hand & body lotion. Best idea ever, the scent is so much more up my alley!

Boost is a very light coconut scent, a little powdery but similar to Vaseline’s Cocoa Butter.

I have the Nourish one and love it, and it’s about finished. How did you refill it, were you able to take the top off? I’ve been trying but have had no success thus far =(

The cap just needs a little bending room to come off so I took a butter knife, slipped it in between the cap & the bottle & it popped off easy peasy!

Thanks for the ingredient list!!! I can’t wait to try one of these. I am a nurse and I swear my hands *CRAVE* the healing of dimethicone and shea butter. I love products that have oat, too, for added anti-itch properties!

I have the EOS lip balm, which I love and have been wanting to try the lotion. I LOVE the packaging; it’s unique and practical. Will have to give this a try.

Oooh, I’ll have to try these! I compulsively take hand cream with me EVERYWHERE (I even have super itty bitty bottles to squeeze in a clutch), and this is intriguing. 😀

Funny coincidence, I showed these to a friend on friday night when we were shopping.

I bought the big bottle of Nourish to try and since the palm-sized ‘pebble’ is so appealing, I am going to buy one of those to carry around and refill!

I used to love cucumber scented lotions, etc. back in the 90’s when they first came into vogue, now, not so much. I preferred the scent in Nourish too. It smells earthy, nutty and slightly like roses but I like it!
I don’t think it will be a heavy enough moisturizer for winter here in NY but I like to buy ‘seasonal’ lotions anyway.
I like that my hands feel soft and not sweaty or greasy after I use this lotion.

Welcome to Makeup and Beauty Blog
Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, which I’ve been doing daily since 2007 (!), you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my four-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my torbie girl cat (Pretty Girl Rosie, a.k.a.
