These Boots Stay Perfect and Come in 22 Colors: The Boots $6 Eyeshadow Singles

July 26th, 2010 by Karen 60 Comments

boots stay perfect shadow review

Here’s a question I wish I could answer: why are some days easier makeup days than others? Seriously, some mornings I wake up with agile fingers and a mind filled with makeup inspiration; on those days I can bang out a blended look with six different eyeshadows and barely bat an eye. Other days, however, even the simplest look using a single color will feel like a Sisyphean task.

Whether or not the universe is conspiring against me, I know one thing for sure: whenever I feel like I’m making a fist with five thumbs, these Boots No. 7 Stay Perfect Eyeshadows ($6 each) are going to come in handy.

I started wearing Khaki (a sheer greenish gold powder) last weekend, and now I can’t wait to see the other colors in this permanent collection of shadow singles. There are 22 to choose from, and unlike the uninspiring Boots Breeze trio I tried last week, Khaki looks and feels smooth on my lids (the powder doesn’t look like it’s sitting on top of my skin).

Gals who love natural eye looks might like its subtle shimmer (it’s not as bold as a high shine frost). The effect reminds me of the light outside in the summer at dusk.

Wearing Boots Khaki

For what it’s worth, you may want to pair Khaki with a primer. I didn’t when I wore it to dinner and a movie on Saturday, and by the time I got home it had all but disappeared. Starting with a layer of a sturdy eyeshadow primer like Urban Decay Eden with it on Sunday extended wear time from about four to six hours (between touchups).

And I gotta say again — I sure do love the price (I found some of the colors at drugstore.com for $4.49!). Boots appears to have made an affordable line of eyeshadow singles that shouldn’t be missed. Available now at Target stores and online. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: A

If I had a werewolf boyfriend…

I’d want him to be like Alcide from True Blood, and not like Jacob from Twilight, because I think he’s cuter in wolf form.

Don’t you wish your werewolf boyfriend was hot like Alcide? Don’t you?

I didn’t think I’d be down with the red eyes, but somehow Alcide makes ’em work, Tim Gunn-style. 🙂

What are ya doing tonight? I finally got around to working on my fitness (had to make up for lunch), and now I’m about to watch the season premiere of Mad Men, WOOT! Alcide’s a wolf, but Don Draper’s nothing but a dog.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

Alcide is right up there with Mr. Northman on the True Blood hottie scale…and Mad Men is my second fave show…I need to catch the new episode and find out what Betty is going to do!

The shadow is such a warm pretty color, it would work so well with the neutral colors I’ve been wearing in my clothes 🙂

Love Mad Men! Side note: I met Christina Hendricks’ (Joan) mom at a Halloween party last year. She’s a lovely lady. We kinda hit it off and was chatting most of the night. I told her Joan is my fave character on the show and how I almost showed up at the party dressed like her but ditched the idea because I couldn’t find an affordable 60’s-style wig at the last minute. She told me a little bit about Christina’s lovely wedding which happened just a few weeks before.

As for Alcide, he is a cute wolf but I prefer his hot bi-ped self, thank you very much.

Actually, they don’t. I mean there’s facial resemblance and Christina’s mother has the same flawless, alabaster skin, but she is quite petite and not as, er, voluptuous.

That colour is lovely! I’m confused about how come it’s cheaper in the US compared to UK prices though? http://www.boots.com/en/No7-Stay-Perfect-Eye-shadow_51162/

This happens with a few brands and I’ve always wondered why

      Hi Kirsty,

Hmm, I’m not sure why. I do know that Target, the store that carries Boots, is known here in the US as a budget store. Maybe they secured some sort of a deal to get products out for cheaper on the shelves.

That’s true – there’s a definite lack of hair on all the characters! Poor Bill from TB was the only one I’ve seen with chest hair lately… which I’m not sure was helpful in his latest situation.

Does your Target sell groceries? Ours recently added a fresh and frozen section to the packaged foods.

Yep our Target has groceries – the one here by work has frozen + canned goods and bread, drinks, etc etc. The one by the house has all those + fresh fruit/produce.

That makes it pretty convenient for me – I can buy lunch and prowl the beauty aisles, just like you plan to do when you go buy `em hangers.

Oh speaking of hangers – I got a box (50 pcs in the box) of those non slip hangers @ Costco for 13 bucks, I think.

OOOH GOOD TO KNOW! I need to go to Costco more often. It’s actually in the same complex as the Target, but I hate going down there because parking is always a zoo. I may have to buck it up and just go because that’s a great deal. The Target ones aren’t bad, but they’re not that cheap. Thanks!!

Eden’s pretty good at smoothing the skin and keeping the shadow on. If you want something to bump up the richness of colors like Khaki, you might also want to layer something like a creamy pencil or a MAC Cream Color Base beneath. If you need any color recs let me know. 🙂
