The Too Faced Glamour To Go III Palette: These Eyes Have It

November 11th, 2009 by Karen 38 Comments

Too Faced Glamour To Go iii Palette Review closed

The folks at Too Faced Cosmetics are making sure good things come in small packages.

Their latest Glamour to Go Palette (Glamour to Go III, $20) — the third in a series of travel-friendly sets for face, cheeks and eyes — is a lean, mean makeup machine!

Too Faced Glamour To Go iii Palette Review pocket palette

Too Faced nailed the “to go” part, stuffing this slim shady (I love the pink roses on the front!) with eight eyeshadows, a blush and four lipglosses. The sturdy palette easily fits in the palm of my hand, yet despite its diminutive stature looks like it could take a beating from phones, keys and random cans of cat food squirreled away in a purse. 🙂

Color-wise, I think the stars of this show are the eyeshadows. With a good mix of wearable neutrals and fun accent shades, the eight shimmery shades of gold, light pink, dark pink, taupe, black, bronze, silver and violet cover a wide range of potential looks, and I really like them for quick washes of color on my lids.

As for texture and color payoff, the smoothness and rich pigmentation of these shadows remind me of something Urban Decay would create. In other words, good stuff.

Oh, and if you’re a fan of Benefit’s Coralista, check out Glamour to Go III’s blush — a shimmery, peachy pink with a hint of gold that I’m guessing would look great with a snowboarder’s tan.

All told, I see a palette with lots to love, but I do think the lip products could use a little work. Of the four glosses (three lighter pinks and one dark rose), the dark rose is the only one that really caught my attention.

My sensitive nose also detects a strong synthetic-ish vanilla scent from these that takes a while to fade…

I may not be crazy about the lip products in Glamour to Go III, but I think Too Faced did a lot of things right with this palette. It looks good, travels well, and seems fairly priced for the amount of product you get. With fresh, fun products for eyes and cheeks, it’s a keeper. Makeup and Beauty Blog Rating: B

It is! 🙂 I bet it would look nice paired with a coral lipstick.

Just bought this for my mother in law, a present for her 50th bday. The eyeshadow are awesome and certainly a better payoff on light/fair skin as they stand out more.

Anyway now I’m jealous of her and I want to get the 3 of them !!

i have been given a too faced palette as a gift… the eyshadows were nice and silky, and the blush was quite nice, although the colors were not *quite* right for me.

however, i too was underwhelmed by the lip product, which was kind of gross to tell you the truth! not only does it have that disgusting taste you mention, the stuff balls up on your lips and goes all flaky after a few hours. the colors were kind boring, also.

btw, happy hump day, i’m in the library typing away for my term paper that’s due tomorrow!

I’ve bought the Naughty/Nice palette by Too Faced before & I noticed the vanilla scent in the lip glosses too.
This travel palette is much more worth it than the one I bought 🙁 There is plenty more product in this one than mine & the price is about the same.

Love the packaging of this set! I like the shadow swatches you’re showing. I have no experience with Too Faced products, so I have no idea if I would like the lip glosses. I do like vanilla scented lip stuff from MAC. Does this smell like that? Or is it just a bad vanilla smell?

      Hi Toni,

I know the MAC scent you’re talking about — I like it too. This stuff smells very different — almost like a mix of vanilla and new plastic toys. (UGH) I do have a very sensitive nose, though, so it might not be as big an issue for other gals.

The eyeshadows are gorgeous, but the lipglosses are a bit too light and sheer for me. I like more pigmented lipglosses.

Oh,gag! I have a very sensitive nose too (hubby loves to tease me about it constantly, but let’s just say that when I smell something, he better listen to me – especially after the leaky faucety/mold incident!). I would not be able to tolerate that vanilla/plastic toy smell at all. I had to throw out my Maybelline Stiletto mascara because of the smell. I liked how it worked, but the smell was just too much.

I’ve loved all the TF Glamour To Go palettes but have bought nary a one. Why? I’d really love them if they included a lip and eyeshadow brush. Nothing super high quality, but it’s a must for me when I need to grab just one palette and go out the door.
